booked a 2 night stay as we were skiing at snow valley
room and hotel smelt like they were spraying fabreze around to mask an underlying odour so it was over powering.
bathroom & room dated and tired so went to bed early only to be woken early hours of the morning by kids running up and down hallways and idiot in room above stomping around (god knows what they were pacing up & down for???) until 4.45am
checked-out next morning after complaining to front desk (looks like we were not the only ones to complain) got $50 off our one night stay and an apology from the lovely girl on reception.
breakfast was good eggs bacon, cereal, waffles, toast, bagels, coffee, tea, juice etc

All in all it’s ok you get what you pay for.

At check in there were 2 staff present unfortunately 1 was actually working and the other was more interested in playing on a laptop and talking to the other employee than both checking in the customers.

Room itself was ok bed comfortable the fridge was noisy and they had left the heating on high so I had to open the window to cool the room down.

They have a pool and hot tub only noticed the hot tub when l was leaving otherwise would have checked it out.

Breakfast is ok kept small scrambled eggs and sausage toast jams etc.

Another hockey-tournament stay.

No complaints about the staff, they were great. Our room was clean and freshly painted, though there was damage to the walls that wasn't repaired first. "Lipstick on a pig" comes to mind, but the room was comfortable.

We were allowed to hang out in the lobby with drinks and pizza all evening. The pool was kept open late and opened early for the kids, and the kids were allowed to hang out in the hallways.

But yes, hookers use this place. At least four, while we were there. There were homeless people coming in and out - though fewer than other reviewers reported. Bathrooms in the lobby were locked, so maybe that's why. Saw no drug deals, but there were drug users either in a room or in a hallway.

All in all, I will skip the Days Inn in future, especially in Barrie. Heard great things about the Holiday Inn.

I have also recommended that the tournament organizer remove this hotel from its booking system, because it's not an appropriate place for kids.

Upon check-in a female breezed by the reception desk and said “you got toothpaste?” She was handed a tube and I thought this must just be a service offered. After booking two rooms I went to unlock the patio doors and was greeted by a couple waving to me from lawn chairs.
I then returned to our vehicle to what looked like a possible drug deal being completed and my daughter saying we have to get away from here. We nevertheless drove around to the back where the rooms were, passing many young people lounging on stair steps and around the hotel. Meanwhile an Ontario Works van dropped off many more of these young people.
We had 2 children with us and would not let them stay in this environment and I cancelled the rooms.
While it is good that we are taking care of those in need the hotel is not a good place to bring young children.

Absolutely disgusting. No hot water, staff not really knowledgeable and the water didn’t drain in the tub. Had to be here as the hockey tournament we were at forced us to be (likely some deal they have with the hotel). Cost was $200 a night and manager wasn’t even on location. After asking front desk three times over a 12 hour period, finally got someone to come up and unclog the tub.

We were FORCED to stay here as part of a local hockey tournament. No hot water, no heat, tubs wouldn't drain, black mould at no extra charge. Many left feeling sick and "off". No response from staff despite repeated attempts. Price was over $200/night and it was one of the worst experiences EVER at a hotel. Despite the fact that this hotel was recommended and on the preferred list of locations for the tournament it was a rip off and unsanitary. Do NOT stay here you are better to sleep in your car.

We needed a place to rest while passing thru Barrie & the price was fair. The hotel was under construction. We realized threre was no access to main entrance, and no signs how to enter to check-in. We found an open door around the side and made our way to the front desk. Check-in was easy, staff was friendly but the door to our room wouldn't close without lifting and slamming. From the late night sounds of slamming, others had the same issue with their room doors.
We went out to get food, and check out the sites, and realized that the back door was propped open as well. Seems like there may be people who live at the hotel.

The staff are friendly, the jacuzzi and pool are nice and clean. The rooms are mostly clean although they are definitely older and in need of some TLC. Sound from the hallways can easily be heard inside the room.

The breakfast is ok, but it does lack selection and flavour. There is a Tim Hortons nearby if necessary.

The water from the faucet did come out brown at first every morning we stayed there.

Visited 4 years ago. Very different now. Hot tub was cold. Room was not dusted. Hall smelled like marijuana. Breakfast counter was sticky. Looked like street people hanging around. No coffee maker in room.

Despite being billed as a 'smoke free hotel' it was anything but. I've never stayed in a worse smelling hotel. Add to that the noisy neighbors (past 4am), unresponsive manager (didn't reply to two emails), and evidently a clothing-optional policy and it became a memorable stay for all the wrong reasons. I shudder every time I pass by it on the highway.
