Another place that doesn’t believe in TV. Want to watch anything – you can watch U-Tube, Netflix etc. My room had a bizarre A/C with a huge venting tube that went outside. Strange musty smell. Old, dilapidated furniture and average amenities. Very poor breakfast - cereal and yoghurt , toast and coffee. Couldn't sleep because of the noise at an adjoining pub until very late. Even if it is a 2/3 star you expect a basic level. Not here..

The desk and chair in the room didn't fit together, lol so I couldn't write at it. There were multiple photos of a breakfast room on the listing, and breakfast foods, but no breakfast at site - they they discontinued it 3 years ago. Haha. If I had mobility issues, I'd never be getting out if that bed - I'm still there now.

It’s old and needs upgrades but It’s a place to put your head down. The room has a microwave and mini fridge. Shower is old school stand up. It has a TV with chromecast. The room is clean just might not want to sit in the chair. And take off the comforter which you know they don’t wash often and you’ll be good. Oh and free parking (first come first served).

This place is disgusting. Used syringes on the ground outside and a couple smoking a bowl on the steps when I pulled up. Room was full of flies. The topmost blanket on the bed looked and felt to be from the 90s, was coarse and pilly and was covered in burn marks and holes. Minor stains on the other bedsheets. Stains and scuff marks on every wall of the room including brown streaks on the ceiling. The mattress was squishy and uneven. Under the bed hadn't been cleaned and there was garbage there including somebody's discarded face mask. There were Bed Bug Interceptors on the floor, those plastic dishes that are meant to go under each of the legs of the bed - but only one of them was actually even in place, the other three were just strewn about. There is a working but loud ac unit, a minifridge and old microwave, and a television but no cable. They charge you the deposit beforehand, and then refund it to you at checkout, after inspecting your room while you wait - something I've never experienced before in my life. It was too disgusting for me to feel comfortable staying the night, so I wasted four hours instead trying to find an alternative accommodation and it ended up basically ruining my stay. Basically just overall a completely unacceptable level of cleanliness, especially in COVID times, they've let the building fall into complete disrepair. This place was a hundred bucks. For an extra $33 I stayed ten minutes outside of town at a real hotel and I would suggest that you do the same.

Whene booked this hotel the online photos give a false impression of the hotelwe arrived at the hotel only to be greeted buy drunks and drug user at the main entrance. On walking inside the place looked very shabby and grim. Carpets are thick with solid grime so not a good start.

We booked in got key for room and we went upto first floor carpets on stairs where very dirty not been scrubed in yrs same goes for the corridor too.

The big shook was the room it smelt musky in there there was a TV in there but it did not have any channels very small fridge that was used as a bedside cabinet bed was very soft and lumpy. There was waiting on the walls and where dirty marks

There was not kettle or brewing gear, but breakfast we went for on our first full day we walking in and turned around and walked out it did not look clean at all and the breakfast was toast younger and fruit with coffee yet they stated Continental breakfast we never eat in there even though we payed fir breakfast

We went to the restaurant next door for food but what finished it off fir us on 3rd day out side having a smoke we so 2 huge RATS running around yep you read right RATS 🐀 thank God we onky had 1 more day

Last day we got up early to book out so we coukd get out of the place. The smell we think came from the drain as the sink in bathroom stuck to high heavens. We had to ask for clean towels as they nit been changed in 2 days to be fair its onky time house maid entered out room

We will be in no rush to stay here again as guest there looked very undesirable people any one else with common sense would give this hotel a wide birth 👍

I used Hotels.com to book this property for one night. I chose the higher rate to not pay at time of booking, but to pay directly at the property, I've done this countless times. Within minutes of my reservation confirmation, my credit card was booked the FULL amount (not even a Pre-Auth - the full amount was charged days ahead of my arrival date. I immediately called the property directly and asked for the manager on duty and was told their wasn't one. I asked why my CC was charged the full amount, in direct disregard for the terms of the reservation and I was told because that's what they do. I asked for a full refund ASAP and canceled my reservation through Hotels.com. I'm still waiting for the refund to show up on my CC online statement, Apparently this property doesn't refund as fast as they charge. I've also contacted Hotels.com to see what action, if any, they will take as this hotel is completely ignoring the terms and conditions of the booking site, in this case, Hotels.com. I will never use this property and I would advise you the same

Since I worked at a small motel for 3 years, when given the chance I choose to give my business to other small establishments.

We have stayed at the Commons Inn about 5 times in the past and it has gotten worse every time. We continuously try to be patient, be flexible, and give them the benefit of the doubt. After our last stay we will not be returning.

During check in the worker accidentally charged us twice. Even after repeatedly requesting it, she would not give us any form of proof of cancellation of the charge placed on our credit card. This left us wondering if the charge really was cancelled (we are still waiting to find out).

We checked in to a room which smelled upon arrival. The bathroom door wouldn't close but we didn't mind. We found a Kleenex box squished between the headboard and the wall, which made me wonder how well the room had been cleaned. If they didn't clean up something so obvious, what else did they miss? When leaving for dinner that night we realized the main door to our room didn't latch properly: the slightest push could open our "locked" door. Since we were staying 2 nights and didn't want to leave our belongings unlocked, we brought it to the desk workers attention.

She moved us to another room which also smelled. The only form of television is chrome-cast, but this room was missing part of the hardwear required. My partner made the front desk aware, as we didn't want them to think we stole it and end up being charged for it.

After all the hassle, we explained to the worker that we had stayed at the Commons multiple times before and asked if there was any chance we could get a small discount for our troubles. She simply responded, "no".

This hotel is shady. They offered me a credit when my travel plans were cancelled (due to pandemic restrictions - completely out of my control) but now are not honouring the credit. They are quite literally evading me and denying the offer: the manager is away, there is no available space (even though I can see online there is), and most recently “they are not honouring credit in August.” Very disappointed with this interaction - especially given how hard so many businesses worked to accommodate and support people over the past year. This place is ethically questionable and other reviews suggest the quality isn’t that great anyhow - I would not give them my business.

we had booked this hotel for 2 nights, under the impression that it was a clean and safe place. unfortunately upon our arrival there were many heavy drug users coming out and going into this hotel and had a Local resident who had seen we had ontario plates on our car and strongly suggested we do not stay there that it was not a safe place. so we left and called the hotel and our booking company ( expedia ) and they were no help to us at all and kept our money. so we had to get another hotel which was great ( delta ) with no help from the booking agents. expedia and the commons were both very rude and ignorant. i strongly reccomend to stay away from The commons and deal direct with hotels do not use expedia or any of there partners. stay safe out there

We booked this hotel for two nights as we had medical appointments in Halifax and wanted to be close. The place has a serious mouse problem which they are well aware of. We tried to cancel as soon as we got there so we could switch hotels but they would only refund our second night. I asked for contact information for the hotel manager so I could call in the morning to see if they would refund us for the room we could not use and the Front desk girl Anni told me the manager doesn’t want their email or office number given out. Worst service, dirty hotel.

It's a little sketchy. The lot has limited spaces and is between the inn and the next building, like a city home's tucked away driveway. We were a bit wary of leaving our car out there given the neighbourhood, but nothing happened. The inn office overlooks the lot.

Late response to your question, but public transit is an option too. Bus stop is right at the airport, and can take you right downtown. Early AM service as well. About a 15min walk from the downtown stop to the Commons Inn. Bus trip took just over an hour.
