We decided to stay here for 4 nights as part of a staycation. It was new, close to downtown, and easily accessible to the arterial routes. Parking is outdoors and usually there is a fee per night, but ours was free.
We had reservations and the check-in was extremely smooth and quick (Thanks Becca). We noted the cleanliness of the hotel as soon as we entered. Careful explanation was given as to breakfast (ordering in advance), and the COVID precautions taken by the hotel including the changing of linens/towels. Upon arrival at our room, we noted the door seal on the door and frame that it was sanitized. Nice touch!
The room was spacious and quite comfortable. Bed was quite comfortable too. Considering it is located on a main thoroughfare, it is very quiet. Our room only had a shower, no tub, but that was great with us.
We enjoyed the 4 nights there. Check-out was as smooth as check-in.
We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will definitely be coming back soon.

My husband Travels frequently, using the Hilton as his place to stay. Therefore he is now a diamond member and often gets enough points so that he can stay free. I have stayed at this location approximately four times since January. Although it’s nothing outright, I have noticed the quality of the cleanliness of the rooms has gone down since coming to this hotel. I’m not sure if it’s because it was new when I started to come here or if they are short staffed, But there were several things in my room I actually had to write down because of the cleanliness. There were visible handprints on the glass window. When I went to use the washroom initially there was Toilet paper in the toilet, as if someone had used it before I came in. There was garbage debris near the coffee station, they were also hand prints that were visible in the shower. There were several places on the floor when I first arrived in the room that had road salt on it. There was a wind ring from a cup that was not washed off the surface. As well as several hairs on the same surface. When I used one of the towels to dry my face in the morning, there was a distinct foul odour coming from it. I had to re-wash my face I was so disgusted.
One other thing to note is that the restaurant still doesn’t have menus. Which makes it awkward when you’re trying to order breakfast and they have to list off what they serve. The previous time I had stayed before this day, I don’t know if it was close to being over but when I went down to breakfast it was very obvious they were starting to close up the kitchen. My breakfast was slapped together- eggs were not what I asked for, and was given microwave bacon.
Positives of this place are that the staff are quite friendly, especially at the restaurant. The pool is nice, not as warm as they advertise but it’s still nice. And when the rooms are actually cleaned properly, they are really quite lovely. Someone made a comment about paper cups, I would have to agree that maybe they should consider an alternative.

The lack of cleanliness in your room concerns me as we have had great cleanliness scores out of the gate for a new hotel. We pride ourselves in cleanliness and service and I will speak to my housekeeping Manager to see where we missed the mark with your room. That definitely is a one off. I apologize. We have menus for all meals now. We were changing our menus and we finally have menus approved which we are using . We have some great additions to the breakfast such as steak and eggs, eggs benedict, etc. We are hoping to be able to start our Buffet everyday as well. i am delighted that the team took such great care of you however. Booked a night via the Hilton Garden Inn website to include breakfast which was $121 per night. Upon check in was advised the kitchen was closed due to covid (totally understandable) however they have a “take away” breakfast available. The next morning when we picked up our “take away” which consisted of a breakfast sandwich juice and cereal bar all the breakfast sandwiches were cold and covered in mold, they must of been at least a week old. It was absolutely disgusting. Customer service was terrible. Customer service would not refund us the cost of the breakfast ($30) and charge us the regular room rate for that night ($89). Instead only offered free parking at a cost of $7. No where near equal the cost of the breakfast! How can food be offered without checking it first!
Would not recommend and will never stay here again! Horrible service!

We stay at this hotel on a regular basis and generally don't have issues, but it seems over time that the service has slipped dramatically. The rooms are quiet and clean and of course, comfortable.
While COVID has brought about many changes, lack of communication is not one of them. Upon check-in we asked for housekeeping daily, something that is clearly posted in the rooms, which we knew so we requested upon check-in as was suggested. Unfortunately, there is a major disconnect between the front desk staff/system and the housekeeping staff/system. Every evening we had to go to the desk and request it AGAIN! That in itself is frustrating. There should be no need.
Now this time we visited the restaurant on a Friday evening. We had placed our order with the server and within a few minutes she came back and advised us, " we have no hamburgers, nothing that is made with cream and a shortage of chicken." It is a Friday evening around 7 p.m. and you are out of items which account for over 50% of items on your menu. Absolutely disgusting and embarrassing for the server, let alone, as guests our selection was extremely limited now. Now keep in mind, we were one of perhaps 3 couples in the whole restaurant. You just cannot depend on the menu. Absolutely terrible.
We may be generous in even rating as average, but again it seems the service is rapidly declining. I should note, we have in the past brought our concerns to the management of the hotel but seem to get the standard response. Really too bad, there is so much potential for this hotel.

I cannot fault this hotel for cleanliness or staff attention to detail.
Every staff member has been incredibly friendly and welcoming (especially breakfast where they help to brighten your morning).
My only gripe is with the rooms that are amongst the dingiest that I have ever stayed with.
Unless you venture to the backfield of the volleyball court sized rooms with a torch - the switch that will illuminate against the modern dark decoration and prevent your imagination from counting elves and orcs in the prevailing darkness beyond will never be found!
(I should also mention that any residual elves or orcs will be scared away from your room by the loudest aircon since concordes engines stopped for the final time)

This hotel has been one of choice in the last few years. It is close to downtown and next to the Harbour Arterial for easy access.
The hotel is generally very clean and quiet. Check is is always smooth with reservations. Check out is easy as well. Parking has a charge, but it too is very reasonable.
The restaurant has provided us with great meals, and many times we are fortunate to have Angelina as our server. Just a great server, she is super friendly and knows the menu very well. Food is great and the menu does vary from time to time.
The only negative point we have is related to housekeeping and that can be directly attributed to the COVID protocols. Our last 2 visits, it seems that communications between the front desk and housekeeping were a bit askew and we had to get the front desk to get housekeeping to take care of our room. Again, this can be attributed to COVID protocols, as we never had problems before.
This is very minor in nature and not a deterrence whatsoever. We will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend.

We are usually big fans of the Hilton chain but our recent experience at this particular location has made us rethink our loyalty. It was, by far, the worst customer service we have ever received. The staff at reception were blatantly unhelpful. Requests for cleaning and supplies as basic as toilet paper were ignored. They blamed all their short comings on COVID. We were on the road for 5 weeks, no other hotel continued to use the pandemic as an excuse for anything. The breakfast was below standard and service again was lacking. There are many hotels in St.John's. I recommend you give your business to others who care about making you feel welcome and taken care of.

This was our first time staying at this Hilton location. Hotel was very clean, great downtown location. However, there leaves lots of room for improvement.

If you do breakfast included (currently room service only) I suggest ordering your breakfast at least 30 minutes early as it was consistently late (15-40 minutes) and there was something missing or wrong with our order each morning but the quality of the food was good most days... Was really only an issue when we we had a plan for our day but had to sit there waiting for our pre-ordered meals to be brought up. Also had our breakfast orders misplaced so we had to re-order and wait even longer again. Never received an apology or any acknowledgment.

There was a younger girl at the front desk in the afternoons who had a very bad attitude but for the most part staff were friendly. We had requested a late check out at the front desk with this girl but on our final day this had not been communicated to house keeping so they showed up anyway (as we were still finishing our breakfast that had arrived 40 minutes late and was missing a full meal).

Overall, we were disappointed with the inconsistency and lack of organization and communication. I was made to feel more like a burden when calling to correct our order, rather than them apologizing for the errors.

I can't say enough about how great the staff was at this hotel during my recent stay from my late arrival @ 3 am to when I needed a cab to catch my 5 am flight they had everything arranged and taken care of. They even had fresh cookies for my late arrival (every hotel is always out of those for late arrivals).

Meghan in the restaurant was great and attentive with refills of coffee, water, and making sure we had anything else we needed.

Great location and well kept hotel, keep up the good work.
