Working in the area, I had to spend three nights here because it is very affordable. The Redwood is not a luxurious place, but it is clean, the beds are comfortable, everything worked, lots of hot water for a shower/bath, reasonably quiet and easy access. Breakfast is what you would expect... typical things such as juice, milk, muffins, fruit, toast, boiled eggs, cereal and coffee available starting at 6 am so you can get an early start. Close to shopping and restaurants, not far from several bars an off-sale. Staff was extremely friendly, courteous and efficient at both check-in and check-out. I would stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here recently and found it warm and comfortable. Cheryl and the office staff was very friendly and helpful. Coffee is on all the time and the room has a fridge and microwave. I've stayed there before and never had a bad stay. Besides I like the outside and inside entrance ways!

I stayed at the Redwood with my wife since the rest of our family decided to stay there too for a function we were all attending. Here's an overview of the good and the bad sides of the Redwood:

GOOD

-Location is not bad, on 18th Street fairly close to downtown Brandon, the Trans-Canada Highway and the various stores and attractions on the north side. (This could be a problem if you need to be in the south side, though)

-In a city where room rates are very high, the Redwood's prices are decent - about $80 to $100 on average, from what I could tell.

-Plentiful free parking

-Good selection of TV channels

-Free coffee and cereal (not quite what I'd call a "continental breakfast", but whatever)

-Beds were pretty comfortable

-There were a couple of computers set up off the lobby and the place advertises free Wi-Fi (which I didn't use so I can't vouch for)

BAD

-Poorly maintained property with a number of things left damaged and unrepaired

-Some of the worst towels I have ever seen in a hotel room. Seriously, you can buy cheap hotel towels by the bushel and they would be an improvement over these rags. This would not be a big deal if the room were $40 a night, but at double that rate (which is what we paid) I would think the owners could part with a few bucks and provide some decent towels and toiletries.

-An overall dingy and shabby feel that you simply would not expect at this price. The owners clearly try to go the extra mile with wi-fi, a continental breakfast, a hot tub and some other frills, but they fail to deliver on the fundamentals.

Unless price is a major stumbling block, I'd say shell out the few extra dollars and go for a better hotel. Normally I'm fine with the cheaper alternative, but the Redwood is not cheap and still doesn't really manage to deliver a pleasant stay.

Stayed here while driving through the province. Checked in and was terrified of the area right away. The room was filthy, absolutely disgusting. Smelled of smoke all over the property, locks very unsafe. Floors heavily stained and the bed and couch were dirtier than imaginable. Furniture unstable and filthy as well. Very un safe as people loitered around the hotel and were screaming at the staff. Threatening to shoot them because they were being asked to leave. WE had to leave before spending the night and stay at a safer much cleaner hotel in the area. Asked for a refund and this hotel declined. This hotel has been reported to the tourism and hotel board of Manitoba. Should be closed right away.

I would never stay here again as my last experience was really unpleasant. Besides finding bugs on the mattress, the atmosphere is grimey, they do not properly clean the rooms and when they do attempt to clean the rooms they do it in a way that you wonder just how clean it really is. I won't ever stay at this hotel again AND I will never recommend it to anyone. They clain to have wireless connections in the rooms but when I went to use my lap top there was no connection..... did ask personal at the front desk about it and they acted like they did not know what I was talking about.

A nice quiet hotel with entrance from outside and inside the hotel. Pool and hot tub, breakfast area with cereal, toast, juice, etc. open every morning. My one-bed room had a good-sized fridge, a wonderful tub/shower, a couch and tv. No coffee makers but there is 24-hour coffee and tea just down the hall. Friendly staff and cheap rates in this day and age. I would stay here again!

Our stay was enjoyable since, as chemically-sensitive people, we didn't have many allergic reactions. We were even able to use the bedding (aside from the decorative pillows and bed runners which were mildly scented). By the looks of it, there have been no recent "updates" besides new LCD televisions and generously-sizes bathtubs, so that counts towards its non-toxic points as well.

There is absolutely nothing "fancy" about this motel; however it is practical, clean, the staff are very friendly and efficient, and the price is right. I will be staying here again.

The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. There is a tv and wifi in all rooms. The bed is one of the more comfortable ones that I have slept in whilst travelling.

Breakfast is included with your which I found to be ok. The plates and cups provided are plastic and small and are more suitable for a children's camp venue as oppose to a motel.

It is located within walking distance to the downtown area. I would stay at this motel again if I were in Brandon again.

I can't answer directly, but I did see visitors that had pets in their vehicles one night. I'm not sure if they allow pets but it would seem like it is kinda okay
