A nice hotel on the edge of the good and bad sections of town. We felt safe if we came in at a decent time. Security seems to come out in the evening. It is very centrally located to skyway, pier, Gastown and Canada place. Many restaurants close by. Very clean and updated.

An excellent place to stay, especially if you don’t want to be in a nondescript chain hotel. Firstly, the reception staff of Amanda, Chloe & Gabriella we’re very friendly, efficient & helpful; thank you. Secondly, the location is excellent for exploring Vancouver and in particular it’s on a quiet road rather than a main route so quieter than most of the alternatives that I was looking at. Thirdly, the rooms have character, massive plus point. Fourthly, whilst not every bodies cup of tea, the shared bathrooms were fine with very good showers; bathrobes in your room to get there & I never waited to use them. Personally, I didn’t find this an inconvenience. Fifthly, the breakfasts are more than sufficient (unless you want a cooked one, in which case there are a number of independent cafes within 5 minutes or failing that, Tim’s) with a good selection of tasty breads, pastries, cereal, yogurts & drinks. Finally, I didn’t realise the extent of the homeless issue in Vancouver but I felt safe when walking back to this hotel. I recommend staying here.

What an amazing stay we had at The Victorian. From the moment we walked in and interacted with the front desk employees, I knew I had made the right decision when choosing a hotel in Vancouver.

The rooms were beautifully decorated with everything we needed (Nespresso machine, bathroom toiletries, etc). Even a goodie bag of Purdy’s Chocolates for Easter! Talk about good hospitality.

The Victorians COVID protocols made me feel extremely safe throughout the whole duration of my stay. Everything from the room keys, to the furnishings in the room was sanitized before/upon arrival.

The central location was also a huge plus. Located about a 6 min walk to Gastown, we enjoyed a stroll down Water St. and ate a delicious seafood dinner at The Flying Pig.

I would highly recommend The Victorian for your next getaway in Downtown Vancouver.

What a wonderful gem in the Gastown neighbourhood of Vancouver. Originally built in the late 1880’s the hotel has been renovated keeping the old world charm of exposed brick walls, high ceilings and furnishings and couples it with modern bathrooms. To reduce cost we took a room with a shared bathroom which was absolutely fine. Room 29 overlooks the backlane which while not scenic was wonderfully quiet. It was also adjacent to a powder room and two washrooms with showers. Our room came equipped with a sink, soap and robes. The bedding was impeccably clean and comfortable. The hotel was a very manageable walk from the Granville sky train station even with a carry on suitcase. The neighbourhood is also right in the thick of things with restaurants, food trucks, shops and attractions. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and the complimentary breakfast was a great start to the day. Various savoury and sweet danishes, yogurt, fruit and granola were served in the front lounge which doubled as secure luggage storage. Even though we checked out in the morning the hotel staff were happy to keep our suitcases all afternoon while we enjoyed the area. We would absolutely return and recommend to others.

We were two of the first parties in the hotel on its reopening during Covid-19. The staff were welcoming, charming, and very helpful. We were lucky enough to be able to park on site in a secure lot, and the location was perfect for our needs as we helped our son move to Vancouver to attend school in the downtown. The room and bathroom were spic and span, the bed was wonderfully comfortable, and the 55" TV was glorious. (We couldn't figure out how to get a light quiet flow from the air conditioner). Although we were only there briefly, thanks for a wonderful stay! It was a total bonus to be able to stay in an historic building dating back to the era of the Klondike Gold Rush--but now beautifully modernized inside.

The hotel is located in downtown Van which is close to many of the restaurants we visited. At max it was a 15-20 min walk depending on where we went, which is fine with us as Vancouver is a walkable city. Some of the places that we visited included Botanist (Brunch and abit pricey if that is your thing but the aesthetic is great), Black and Blue ( 5 min drive), and a few other places. I do recommend getting a car, which we did but note that onsite parking is $20 plus tax a day, which is annoying but they provide you with your own key fob so you can come in and out.
Regarding check in, it was pretty seamless as I booked and paid on expedia. I did have to put my creditcard down for the $100 dollar damage hold but that is to be expected.
Going up the steps with my suitcase, i did wish there was elevator but luckily we only had our carry on. Regarding the rooms, they were smaller then what i expected, end of bed is not to far from the wall, so minimal walking space ( and there was 2 people in the room). Outside of that the room was good, the bed was comfy and the linen was clean. Again based on looks it was pretty cute. Bathrooms are cleaned i believe every morning and besides a few hairs seen in the bathroom, it was pretty clean for it being shared with other people.

Note to others - please be aware that if your hair sheds, pick up your shed hair and throw it out. It is quite disgusting seeing hair particles on the counter, floor when brushing your teeth.

Towel were always stocked so you never ran out.

would i visit this hotel, yes. i like the location and the friendliness of the staff

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights during Rugby 7's. We really liked everything about the hotel starting with the very friendly and helpful staff. They answered all of our questions and even helped me sort out a bike rental. The location was perfect for us as it was a short walk to BC Place, Gastown, Float plane base, Convention Centre and craft beer houses. We stayed in room 210 and I would recommend that side as the rooms were very quiet. The rooms had Nespresso Coffee makers and the breakfast was perfect. The front desk always seem to have a plate of croissants on it as well. I would stay there again for sure.

I inadvertently booked a room with a shared bathroom so, I was a little concerned given my past experiences with shared bathrooms at other properties. To my surprise, there was nothing to worry about. The bathrooms were cleaned multiple times throughout the day and because there were three bathrooms, I never had to wait to use one. The room had a sink in it which was helpful and reduced the need to use the shared bathrooms. In addition, the staff were very friendly and the location is great if you want to be near Gastown.

Me and my husband had a great stay in the Victorian hotel this weekend.

The location is unbeatable, rooms are large & decorated with a mix of well maintained vintage and modern finishings furniture & amenities.

All the staff were world class friendly and helpful.

The bed and pillows were so comfortable.

And the cleaning staff ensure top quality cleanliness throughout your stay.

Fun fact, we learned that the Victorian hotel is the longest running hotel in Vancouver.

We absolutely will be visiting the Victorian hotel again when we come back to Vancouver.

I stayed in the Superior King Room with private bathroom which was perfect to hang out in when I needed to get some things done on my laptop. Would stay again!
Highlights: included breakfast (fruit, yoghurt and pastries), comfy bed, warm and amazing staff (so helpful and they also sorted a quick wash of my laundry so I could have it back and dry before I left for Whistler).
Things to note: I had read other reviews saying that the hotel could be a little noisy so I made sure I had my earplugs and when I booked online I asked, if possible, to have a quieter room. I was on the second floor far from the main stairs and I didn't have any issues with being woken up, and I am a very light sleeper. There is no elevator but the staff immediately asked if they could take my bags up the stairs for me.
Possible small improvements: it would have been great to have milk instead of powdered creamer for the Nespresso coffee in the room, and I could have done with a couple hooks on the door for my jacket and towels.
Altogether a wonderful stay, would recommend.

There is a place called "Jam" on Beatty Street. Get there early as it lines up. Also the White Spot across the street from us has a good full breakfast. For a classic-old school place, The Smile Diner just around the corner is a low cost alternative for breakfast.

I am 70 yrs old. No reason to be negative and han never previously seen or spoken to this man .My first encounter with him was his banging on the door. My injury was serious enough for me to have to buy a business class ticket for the return journey so that I could lie down. I needed a wheelchair assistance at the airport. The last 3 days of my trip were spent on the bed unable to move, with 2 pre paid tours missed. His words to me were ( I Don't Care) I am still having to take very strong pain medication as it turned out I had damaged the sciatic nerve. Obviously it's his word against mine, and he's never going to admit it as his job would be on the line, unless he's related to the owner

I did both recently. Taxi was around $35. Train, if I recall, is $7.95 for two zones. I'd opt for the train for sure. If you plan on taking the train anywhere else that day, just pay $12.95 for the day pass.
