I booked Casa Dorada based on the location to Downtown Cabo. While I did read many reviews of hotels in that area (and this was my 3rd visit to Cabo, 2001 being the first visit), I was happy with my choice. Here's a run down of what I experienced.
Service/Hospitality/Reservations: Reservations were flawless. Terrific communication before and during my trip. I chose to upgrade from a garden 1st floor suite, to a "1 bedroom ocean view room (4th floor)" a week before my arrival. I highly recommend doing that. The garden rooms have no view and no private patio enclosed. You can only see the pool from your room. There are buildings that block the view of the Sea of Cortez from the 1st floor. See below the photos from our balcony. Note: Ocean view rooms have 2 balconies with patio furniture (one from the living room and one from the bedroom). LOVED IT! The men at the valet area (front of hotel) were extremely friendly and helpful daily with taxis and directions. The men who drove us from and to the airport from Casa Dorada were very friendly and kind. The car they picked us up was clean, safe and very nice.
Food: Loved the breakfast buffet food items and flavor. Great service in the Maydan and terrific ocean views as you eat. I did not get the All-Inclusive (I just added on the breakfast option which was terrific economically because they offer it from 7am-12pm so I could eat well in the morning and then find terrific food for dinner in downtown Cabo).
Alcohol and Water: Tip: There is a tiny market 1/2 a block away from Casa Dorada (see the yellow market front below in pics). They sell bottled water, snacks and beer/wine for very cheap. The room has a fridge in it so I would go there and stock up on lots of beverages to store in my fridge and I saved lots of $$$$ that way. While Casa Dorada does offer a 2 for 1 special on alcoholic drinks on Tuesdays from 11am-12pm and 3-4pm, the drinks are very expensive. $16 for a small Pina colada in a plastic cup (ummmmmm....). Buy your drinks in town not at the resort to save $$$. Lots of TERRIFIC yummy restaurants (do your homework first before arriving to Cabo to see which eateries are economical, sanitary and delicious).
Beach/Pool: Pool was comfortable and not over crowded, but people place towels, magazines and books early to grab chairs and do not even go to the pool to fill those chairs physically until later. So that can be a bummer. The beach is ok, and is roped off from vendors but you are somewhat cramped next to other Casa Dorada patrons. The scenery is pretty and the action is cool to watch but a little cramped. Service for drinks/food at the beach was terrific.
Noise: the grounds are loud, but mainly from the restaurants on the beach which have nothing to do with the hotel. The Office, Omega and Mango Deck have a lot going on which is great if you want to walk over a short distance to party and eat/drink on the sand on the beach. There is music at the pool at Casa Dorada continuously which could annoy some patrons, but it was not too loud, but you will hear it.
Jewelry Store: Terrific customer service. Bought a GORGEOUS ring. Loved the selection and prices were reasonable.
Overall: This hotel was perfect for our stay, but the cool thing about this destination is there are a lot of hotels, resorts, hostels options to choose from. Casa Dorada is one of the more expensive options, but we knew that going in.

Just visited Casa Dorada for my 24th birthday, from Sunday to Thursday, and my mom and I had the most incredible time. Unfortunately, we did not dine at any of the restaurants on the property but that is only because the location is so incredible. This resort is walking distance to the downtown area of Cabo, as well as the Marina, and because we did not book the all-inclusive package with the resort, we were inspired to venture through the town. If you prefer a quiet and easy vacation, the all-inclusive package is certainly a great option. However, as I mentioned previously, the resort is surrounded by endless restaurants and bars of all kinds (which, in my opinion, can be more fun and allow you to see more of the beautiful city).
The massages and spa treatments seemed to be a bit overpriced so my mom and I booked massages at another location.
The beach service is really wonderful. (The service at the pool seemed a bit slow but on the days that it felt slow, the resort was relatively empty. I'm sure that during the busier seasons, or on the weekends, they likely have more servers).
Getting back to the beach service, I feel compelled to mention Luis! I am unsure if he is a manager or not, but he genuinely went above and beyond in his service. I did not see a single guest need to move their own umbrella, adjust their lounger, or get new towels while he was on the beach. His hard work and kindness will not be forgotten.
The room was absolutely stunning. I booked a junior suite but we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite upon arrival. The room had two balconies (one in the living room and one in the bedroom) and the views were breathtaking.
Cons: not the best lighting which makes it difficult to do your makeup at night and the last two nights of our stay, there was a very loud group, presumably a family with children, in the room above ours. They began making lots of noise around 6am both mornings... (obviously this is not the resort's fault though so I suppose next time I will just ask for a room on the top floor.)
Overall, the stay was wonderful and I plan to return with my boyfriend (hopefully sooner rather than later!) This resort is a perfect mix of tranquility and liveliness in that there are areas that feel perfectly peaceful and other areas, most of which are on the beach, are energetic and active.

If you want to be close to all action in Cabo, Casa Dorada is tough to beat. We had a two room suite and it was really more of an apartment than a hotel room. It had a living room, dining table and kitchen with refrigerator, toaster, 4 burner stove etc. It was impressive and one of the best rooms I have stayed in. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food at the restaurant was awesome. Staff was masked up and cleaning all the time so we felt very safe. There were many families enjoying the pool most of the day. This is definitely a family friendly resort. We also took advantage of the spa and got massages which were great. The downside of being close to all the action is being close to all the action. The beach in front of the hotel is very busy and located near a very popular bar that appeals to the spring break set. Where you have tourists you will have vendors. I have been to Mexico many times and have seen vendors and understand why they are there. However, there were ALOT of vendors, dozens constantly walking by. The hotel has an area on the beach roped off where they cannot enter but they will stay just on the other side of the rope blocking the view. That said, many tourist were buying from all these vendors so I can't blame the vendors for being there. If you want a massage on the beach laying on the blanket you just bought while getting your hair braided next your new nacho bowl full of fresh churros listening to mariachi music until its time for your jet ski rental you can't beat it. If you want to listen to the waves crash all day while reading a book-look elsewhere.

On the beach as you describe there is all kind of activities and things to do or see, once you got done of that can go to the Pool Area and relax reading a book on a relax area having that convenience and the best service provided Casa Dorada it os the best option to be in Cabo. I will start with the positive. The employees who clean this hotel, work in the spa and work at the pool & beach are outstanding!!! Luis who was a lifeguard went above and beyond to assist us daily! Now for the bad part..... When we purchased our time share at this resort we (and others we know) were told The Mango Deck would be torn down. Wow! Were we fools to believe that. Not only is the Mango Deck still there but it has expanded and gotten significantly louder. The ME Hotel (which is 2 hotels to the left and owned by the same company) has increased the size and scope of their speakers. They are louder, they play into the morning hours. The base radiated into our room with the windows closed. The beds in the room are extremely firm, to the point where you cannot sleep on your side. The towels are paper thin. In our 2 bedroom until with a kitchen there we n o dish soap and the resort no longer gives you a starter roll of paper towels. Finally, the resort now allows the cruise passengers to use their pool and beach area. This over crowds these areas and is intrusive to the people who are paying for a room at this resort. Very disappointing! Over all, we have stayed Casa Dorada since the first year the resort was opened and the quality has decreased over time. There is absolutely NO WAY this resort can be considered a PREFERRED RESORT. The best thing about Casa Dorada is some of their employees and the weather. At this rate Medano Beach will be Cancun in no time. :-(

The Casa Dorada is a good 4 star hotel. The location of the hotel is exceptional, and only a 5 minute walk into the main harbor area, although you do not need to go that far for some fantastic restaurants, there are quite a few right on the door step of the hotel.
It has a beautiful beach and you are only a few steps to one of the few parts of the ocean you can swim in. I have to give a shout out to Luis the life guard, but he is so much more than that. Luis was a part of our holiday, he took care of us every day, and was always checking in on us to make sure we were ok and had everything we need, always with a fabulous smile too. There is waiter service at the beach and they are all fabulous, bringing food and drinks of your choice whenever you want it. Ramera was our waiter most days and was absolutely fabulous!
I read a few reports about the noise from a bar called the Mango, it is right next to the hotel. So here’s the thing, it’s a fairly busy area of the beach, boats coming in and out and some water sports, the Mango bar plays music during the day time but it really didn’t bother us at all, it just adds to the hustle and bustle of the beach. It’s a lively beach section but it’s not a party zone. Good for families and great for people watching as there is always lots going on.
We ate at the hotel restaurants a few times, food was always very good. We had breakfast included in our rate and there was enough choice to cover all of the things we like to eat.
If I had to give some constructive feedback on anything, I’d say the hotel looks a little dated inside, and could do with an upgrade on the decorating. However, our room was clean, and the maid service was brilliant every day. We slept very well, beds are comfortable and the views of the ocean are just amazing, it was beautiful to wake up up every day.
We would definitely stay here again, maybe not quite as well presented as some of the 5star hotels it competes with, but for value for money, a perfect location, all the amenities you will need and a staff who are wonderful and very eager to make sure you have a good holiday, I’d say this hotel is a great choice.

We purchased a week through interval international but knew we would arrive a day late. The resort was notified. Caborides picked us up at the airport and returned us for 130$. Check in was very easy, again, as we were late. We were given room 125 on the bottom floor. The room was very dark and we asked to move up a floor or so. Nothing was available until the next day when we moved to 325. That was SO much better. Construction around the pool was daily, there was a bit of noise. But we are beach people, and the water is clear and warm, and the service excellent by the staff who serve the crowd. Yes, vendors walk buy selling their goods, but they are polite and really kinds of fun to see whats selling. I brought yoga clothes, seeing that there were classes on Monday and Wednesday for 25$. But the spa said there were no classes. I was so disappointed. The gym was very air conditioned and was a fair substitute. A mask must be worn inside, and the resort employees were above and beyond in cleaning and wearing masks. Must wear a mask in the gym, Im used to doing so anyway. We're an active couple in our late 60's and while I might return to Casa Dorada I could do without the music, etc from next doors Mango restaurant. Weekends were rather loud. My kids might be right, we are too old for Cabo!!!! We never sat by the pool, but chairs and umbrellas seemed to always be available. We ate most of our meals on site. Coffees in the morning from the sports bar with croissants or cinnamon rolls, lunch or dinner in the restaurants. Pizza was excellent, great sushi and ceviche, mustard chicken with mashed potatoes good too. Time share people approached us as we finished check in. Maybe not the best time to do so, as they promised 300$ off our bill, and massages, etc etc. but really we were starving from no food on our early morning flight, and just wanted to change clothes and put down our luggage. Somewhere, online, i saw a September special at the spa but when I asked the spa receptionist I was offered 20% off treatments. Then was told i had $120off a massage if I wanted. We never did use the spa. We had a relaxing few days at Casa Dorada, and its worth checking out as to my knowledge there are few swimmable beaches in Cabo and we got what we asked for at beautiful Casa Doraada.

First, for all those concerned about COVID and safety precautions, we felt very safe and were impressed with the cleanliness and the staff's health protocols. It felt easy to comply as well and most guests were cautious without complaint. We took advantage of many, many of the resort amenities versus venturing out and we are very glad we did. Maydan breakfasts are great as always and they did a great job with individual portions that were still inviting and fresh. The pizza is always good and the servers and bartenders such as Pepe and Pablo were helpful as always. I painted with Manu and practiced yoga with Claudio. I will be sure to paint with Manu again and am anxious to try out some of his pointers on a painting when I get home. Claudio has inspired us to try yoga at home for both the relaxation and the stretching. I had two massages that were different but each was fantastic. I highly recommend both Edgar and Gladys. Finally, we felt like family when the staff helped us celebrate our anniversary and my husband's birthday. Such special memories. We are sad to leave but we will be back as soon as we can.

Our first time visit to Cabo San Lucas and to Casa Dorada. We were very impressed by the seriousness they took on cleanliness by wearing masks and taking our temperatures when we walked into the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful especially during Hurricane Genevieve. The food at their restaurants was delicious and we were never disappointed. The sushi was fresh, steak cooked as it should be and fresh ingredients used in all of their dishes. We stayed at the junior suite with a mini kitchen and for the two of us, it was plenty of room. Of course, the highlight for us was the ability to walk to a swimmable beach and just relax, swim in the ocean, and relax under the umbrella.

We grabbed a quick 5 night stay at the Casa Dorada on Medano beach in Cabo...this was a great decision. This property is right on the beach and has a private area for guests with really comfortable lounges, This area is managed by senor Luis who is not only the resorts lifeguard but an amazing host who greets all visitors with a smile and helps with everything - digging in umbrellas, moving lounges, sorting out towels, cleaning beach - amazing service. If you want to stay in a well run resort with a beautiful safe kid friendly beach, I highly recommend the Casa Dorada - you won't be disappointed.

We've been visiting Cabo San Lucas for a number of years and Casa Dorado is by far our favourite place to stay.
The location is directly on Medano Beach and is one of the only swimmable beaches in the area. It's also close enough to town that you can easily walk.
However, it's really the staff that make this a standout resort. The main lifeguard, Luis, feels like family and even brought our kids some empanadas that he'd bought and knew that they'd enjoy. You know that you're in good hands with him watching out for you and making sure that you're protected from the both the sun & waves.
We also love running into Emilio every morning near the pool and his smile is always a great start to the day.
If you don't want to stay at a typical all-inclusive on the "corridor" where you are separated from everything, there is no better place to experience Cabo San Lucas.

Not sure if the pool is heated since it was super hot when I went, I know the jacuzzi for sure is heated though. There are 2 pools, one adults only and one for everyone.
