The Vista Encantata Spa Resort & Residences garners praise for its impeccable service, with a special nod to the personal butler service that enhances the guest experience. Cleanliness is a hallmark of the property, from the pristine rooms to the well-kept grounds. Spacious rooms equipped with luxury amenities like hot tubs and private pools are a highlight, despite a few minor drawbacks. The resort's comprehensive amenities, including multiple pools, a spa, and diverse dining options, are regularly commended. Guests relish the inviting atmosphere and luxurious ambiance, accentuated by personalized touches. While the hillside location offers breathtaking views, it is worth noting that it may limit nearby dining choices. The all-inclusive option is considered to provide good value, although some services come with a higher price tag.

Hotel's Favourite
TL;DR Overview: great location, beautiful grounds, wonderful people, food was meh, some logistics are difficult. Read on for details. I've tried to be super descriptive to include things I wanted to know before we got here but couldn't find answers to.

Here are the basics: there were 4 of us, 2 adult parents, 1 adult daughter, and our 15 year old daughter. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa on the first floor. We were on the all-inclusive plan and did not cook any of our own meals.

Details:
- Arrival - this was honestly the most frustrating part. We had arranged private travel through the hotel but I never received the confirmation email with how to find our driver when we arrived. After multiple calls to the resort the day of our arrival, I was at least able to confirm the name of the transportation company. After some back and forth with the travel company rep we located near the transport area, we figured out we'd been scheduled to be picked up the next day. It was quickly resolved and we were on our way. Our transportation was a suburban and the trip was about 35 minutes.
--------
- Check-in - our check-in was super easy. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming. We did get charged for what they said was a remaining balance but that was quickly and easily reversed. Everyone in our party was given a bracelet with a sliding plastic piece that served as our room key as well. Super convenient! We were never wondering where our key was or reminding the others to make sure they had their keys before leaving the room.
--------
- Timeshare Offer at Check-in - before they take you to your rooms from check-in, you are introduced to their timeshare sales team. They offer you a breakfast and discounts on excursions or activities for attending. They were extremely polite and after a couple of firm declines, they happily sent us on our way.
--------
- Villa - we were in a 2 bedroom villa on the first floor - 1453. The villa is gorgeous with beautiful paintings, decor, and amenities. There is hardwood throughout and tile in the bathrooms. Specifics:
- Laundry room - a stacked washer/dryer - no supplies provided
- Kitchen - full size fridge with ice maker and freezer. It comes stocked with several cans of Coke, beer, bottles of water, and fruit juice. If you are on the all-inclusive it is included. If you're not, there's a price list in the fridge. There is a sink, stove, microwave, drip coffee machine, Nespresso machine with a small selection of pods, a blender, a full set of pots & pans, eating utensils, cooking utensils, wine glasses of all sizes, shot glasses, and regular drinking glasses. There are plates, empty salt and pepper shakers, and an empty Oil & Vinegar set. There is also a closet for storing multiple bottles of wine.
- Living area - includes a round 4-person dining table, a couch, and a chair. The living area has a ceiling fan and a large TV with remote.
- Master bedroom - a King 4-poster bed, 2 chairs, a ceiling fan, and a large area rug. There are two bedside tables with lamps and outlets built into the floor and walls. Beautiful artwork and a corner cabinet with the TV. The bathrooms are the shining star of the villas! There is a large closet with a luggage stand and hangers. Also included was the safe and a scale. A large tub sits in the middle of the bathroom and was comfortable and easy to use. The toilet room and the shower have a door for privacy. There are two rainfall shower heads and the water pressure and hot water availability were always good. There are two sinks and a hairdryer is included, as well as a makeup mirror. The bathroom includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion. The towels were good and there are two cotton/linen blend robes available.
- Double bedroom - two full beds and a small sitting area. Instead of a closet, there is a large built-in unit along the wall that has two small closets on each end and a tv in the middle. The 2nd bathroom is also gorgeous and includes a huge shower with two heads and an area to sit, as well as a toilet room. There is no bathtub in the 2nd room but it does also come with two sinks, the hairdryer, and the toiletries.
- Toilet room - there is a small bathroom right inside the front door, so there were 3 toilets in the villa.
- The Patio - because we were on the first floor, we had a swim-out pool. It was heated and had an amazing view of the shoreline. The pool is 4 feet deep and large enough for several people to chill in. It would be perfect for one person to float. The patio itself included a built-in grill, 4 lounge chairs, and a 4-person table. The landscaping is beautiful! The pool does connect to the other 1st floor villas but there is a fair amount of privacy. The pools in the 1453-1455ish block can be seen if you're looking down from the 4th floor lobby railing so no skinny dipping unless you want to be seen! :)
--------
Pools - the resort has multiple pools but Vista's pool is on the 7th floor of the Vista building. This is where the Mestizo restaurant is and the pool bar is called Atico. We did not use the elevators in any other part of the resort but in Vista you have to use your bracelet to access any of the floors via the elevator. There are stairs if you choose to walk. The rooftop pool is a gorgeous infinity pool but the entire pool and patio area has very little natural shade. There are umbrellas that the staff will open for you and towels are readily available.

Mestizo is where the breakfast buffet is so it's convenient to come up in the morning, choose your seats at the pool, and then eat. Children are allowed in this area but the pool itself is large so we were never disturbed by the kiddos that were around. There is a large ledge on one wall of the pool that allows people to sit in 18ish inches of water and there are loungers that sit in the water as well. There is a square shallow part of the pool where most of the children played and there is also a large, square hot tub at one end of the pool. There are bathrooms on each end of the large rooftop area. There is also a separate rectangle shaped jacuzzi that is maybe 20'x5' on the opposite side of the rooftop. There is food and drink service and plenty of staff to bring you what you order. There is also a small patio with a few dining tables if you choose to eat there instead of at your loungers. This area is also where a large gym is located.

- La Pergola Pool & Bar - a large pool with a swim-up bar. This is also the pool that includes the kid specific areas. We did not ever lounge at this pool but the area was nice.
- Il Forno Pizza, Pool, & Bar - we hung out at this pool twice during our stay. There are traditional loungers and umbrellas but there are also beds and hammocks. The service staff at this pool was stellar! (shout out to Isabel) The pool is 2 levels so there's a wall where water from the top pool spills over. This pool also includes several shallow areas and shelfs for lounging and a jacuzzi. The Italian restaurant, Barolo, is in this building complex as well.
- El Patio Snack & Pool Bar - this area fills up super fast! It's the adults only part and there are loungers around the pool and on the cliff top that overlooks the ocean. We were never able to find seats at this pool and it had a pretty festive vibe to it. It's a large pool with a swim-up bar but it closes at 5.
--------
Food - we elected to do the all-inclusive option since we weren't going to be here long enough to justify ordering groceries and cooking and we didn't want to have to account for food and drinks along the way. It was worth it to us.

What to know - even if you are on the AI plan, they are going to bring you a receipt to sign. It took us a few times to get the hang of it since we've never been to an AI resort where they made you sign the check. But it also gives you a spot to add gratuity. More often than not, we didn't add the gratuity to the receipt but put some cash with the check. The prices are in pesos so be prepared to do some quick math to figure out how much to tip if you write it in on the receipt.

Tipping - Yes, it's supposed to be included. If you don't tip, no one is going to haul you out of the resort. But it's a part of resort culture and is something that has been a practice at the 6 other AI resorts we've been to in Mexico. We came prepared with $200 in cash in ones and fives.

Restaurants - the food is not spectacular but it's not bad.
- Mestizo for breakfast - the buffet is nice but not huge. There are plenty of options for pastries and several types of bread for toasting. There are pancakes and french toast, several types of breakfast meat, an omelet bar, and hot dishes. There are also meat and cheese options, along with fresh fruit, yogurt, and parfaits. Every morning there was green juice, orange juice, and a rotating juice. Rounding out the available choices was cold cereal and milk. They serve coffee and several types of espresso drinks, as well as alcoholic beverages.
- Mestizo for dinner - the view was amazing and the sunset was spectacular! This was probably the best meal we had and our server, Hugo, made the dinner all the better. It's a good option for dinner and we ended up wishing we'd eaten here more.
- La Trajinera - this Mexican restaurant was where we ate our first night. It was okay. The guacamole and chips were good but the entrees were hit or miss. They did bring my daughter a fun dessert with a sparkler on it since we were celebrating her 21st birthday. We sat on the patio, which was pleasant. There is a piano but no one was playing it that night. We did hear music coming from there on other evenings.
- Il Forno Pizza - the pizza was solid and only a little greasy. It's thin crust and wood fired. At this place during the day, they also have typical pool-side bar fare. The chicken nuggets were frozen and fried but my 15 year old ate them fine. The wings were okay and the sauce was spicy. The best server we had during the day was Isabel and she was at this pool. She was super attentive and responsive!
- Barolo Cucina Italiana - we ate here for dinner one evening. It was - just - odd. The dishes sounded like elevated cuisine but the food was bland and inconsistent. It was fine and certainly edible but the dessert was the best part of the meal. We all agreed we didn't want to go back there and one visit was enough.
- El Eden Tequila Bar - this is the taco bar and we had dinner here one night. It was a solid option, though some of the meat was a bit chewy or fatty. All in all, the casual atmosphere and no need for reservations made it one of the better meals we had.
- Juice Bar - 2nd floor of the Vista building. The juices and smoothies were good and the sandwich we got from the juice bar was pretty tasty.
- Room Service - just don't. It's not worth it. I know room service is hard in a large resort as it is but the quality was not great and the food was cold and soggy by the time it got to us. We were being lazy but a quick jaunt to grab a couple of pizzas would have been a better move. Your mileage may vary. :)
--------
Excursions/Activities - our daughters rode horses one afternoon and they had a good time. This was the only excursion we booked through the hotel.
--------
Spa - I took advantage of an offer we received ahead of our stay. I got a cranial and foot massage, a chocolate full-body exfoliation, and a moisturizing facial. My husband had a Swedish massage. We both enjoyed the extra amenities of the jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and the spa pool. The therapists were good and the spa area is pretty and clean.
--------
Final thoughts: it was a great week with lots of places to make good memories with our kids. The grounds and buildings are fantastic! The staff is marvelous and seem to enjoy working here. The things that kept me from making it a 5 star review:
- The ticketing system for food and drinks was easy enough to navigate but something that continued to be annoying. We totally understand that's a personal preference so it might not be a big deal for others but it's not this way at all resorts and it was just tedious.
- While we still think the all-inclusive plan was worth the spend, the food overall was just meh. It was worth it for the convenience and the drinks but only our dinner at Mestizo stands out to us. Better food would put this place over the top!

We had the best experience at Vista Encantada August 7-14, 2020! Starting with Nestor in Reservations to Ricardo who greeted us upon our arrival and Trinidad who Escorted us to our most beautiful 2 bdrm Villa that night. I have to tell you our glorious tale of a perfect vacation. We felt safer at Vista than we do at home. The staff are all wearing masks, gloves and practicing social distancing. But most noticeable, every single person we passed greeted us with a Hola, Buenos Dias, Buenas Tardes, or Buena Noches...

We did purchase the Premium All Inclusive Package, which turned out to be a very good choice. Upgraded meals and drinks were included at all the restaurants on property and at the Golden Zone restaurants at the marina. The food was excellent and the drinks were always tasty and refilled promptly.

We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Our personal Butler Josue was very attentive to our every need-from dinner reservations to transportation to town and the airport. He was available anytime via text or phone. The Spa was lovely and Beatriz the Manager took good care of us. Make sure to go and enjoy the Jacuzzi and the relaxing Spa pool, comfy lounges and stunning view. Our favorite spots for most the week were the rooftop pool, hot tubs, and the rooftop restaurants Atico and Mestizo. We were spoiled with the superb service of Abel, David, Mario, Samuel and most special Chef Oscar! I really don’t want to carry on anymore because I want to keep Vista a secret. We loved it so much we have already booked another trip in March and bringing friends. How many resorts offer a meal of your choice to be prepared and served in your private villa? Vista Encantada does. Chef Oscar and superb mixologist Mario treated us like royalty. While Chef Oscar was preparing rib eyes and lobster on the grill Mario was creating the very best fresh margaritas served with delicious guacamole and chips. You get the picture WOW!!!

I would be remiss not to give a shout out to some of the other staff that made our vacation amazing. The concierge staff of Mauricio and BeverLey and the restaurant staff of Claudia and Israel were a pleasure. Claret in Housekeeping was so sweet. Paula in the sales department was so nice to talk with. Celina did a great job on a much needed pedicure/haircut in the salon.

Thank you all Vista Encantada staff you are the very best in the industry!!!

We planned a couples trip to Cabo San Lucas prior to January and like many were hesitant to go given our new normal. After much discussion and research, we decided to take the plunge ... we're so glad we did! Upon arrival at Vista Encantada we were greeted warmly with festive drinks and "masked" smiles. We were then asked to walk through a sanitation tunnel, take our temperature, wear our masks and also put our shoes in a solution prior to entering the check-in area. No complaints - this made us feel confident management and staff were doing all they could to provide a safe environment for guests and employees. While at the resort, our experience was a 10/10. Omar, our butler and "go to" person for everything was informed, responsive, courteous, and fun! Maria kept our villa tidy (better than at home), Abel served us fantastic drinks by the pool and Carlos put us to the test on a bike adventure and water aerobics. Vista Encatada pool is serene with breathtaking views, the spa is not to be missed and the rooms were lovely with great amenities. I highly recommend!

My husband and I traveled to Cabo for another vacation that was absolutely spectacular! We are writing this review to give them much deserved recognition to the beautiful Vista Encantada /Hacienda Encantada Resort and staff.
We stayed for eight days and seven nights in the Vista residences which was absolutely beautiful! To complement that our butler concierge Daniela was absolutely outstanding!! checking in with us daily, making sure we had everything that we needed continually , following up on reservations and making all of our reservations for every meal that we had during that time Weather on the property or off the property. We want to thank her so very much her professional demeanor and her kindness which is so very special.
We also want to think Miguel who took care of us every single day for hours at a time at the El patio pool bar and restaurant. Miguel is an amazing multitasker and is serving several different people throughout the day and yet every day when we arrived he knew exactly what we needed before we even asked and had it at our table before we could even settle in. He is the rockstar of servers and made us feel so at home and special!
We also want to thank Benjamin at Mestizo restaurant which is on the property. It is absolutely beautiful and is on the top floor of the Vista residences. Benjamin took care of us on several nights during our stay. The food was impeccable every single time absolutely delicious and any dietary needs or changes were 100% accommodated happily.
There are so many other people whose names I do not know but during our whole stay everyone we encountered was so kind and more than happy to help. The Beautiful chapel on the Property is a must see with us being from California all of our churches have been closed so it is the first time we’ve been able to attend a mass in several months and we did so on our first Sunday there and it was absolutely magical and quaint.
The entire property which is very grand is absolutely spotless on every level there is continuous manicuring of the grounds going on. All the rooms are sanitized daily and they are doing I believe a much better job than we are here in the states. we could learn quite a bit from their methods that they are taking to keep there guests safe and healthy during the pandemic.

You all made our wedding Anniversary a very memorable one
A big Thank you to all of you!

I was impressed with overall property, experience and staff. The resort is well kept, was clean and overall was a great experience. They go above and beyond in sanitizing, providing sanitizer, wrapping towels in plastic wrap and taking all other precautions. The staff was quick to anticipate our needs and provide the service we needed. I would highly recommend.

We spent three weeks at the Vista Encantada. The service on the pool deck was incredible. Roberto Colin, the pool concierge, was so hospitable at all times while we enjoyed the view, sunshine, leisure time, and swimming. He brought us refreshing fruitsicles, cucumbers for the ice, cool towels to freshen the face, and a mini hor'duerve for a mid-day snack.

The waiters, Jorge, Adrian Alcocer, and waitress Beth we second to none. They made sure we were getting plenty of fluids and food!

We loved our days on the pool deck and the beautiful views.

We had an amazing time at the resort. The staff went above and beyond for us. They were all so nice and helpful. Right when we got there we got upgraded to a huge suite that came with a butler, Mauricio Vista made sure we had the best experience in Cabo. He helped us with reservations for dinner and excursions. It was my husband birthday and he made sure everywhere we went he did something special for him also giving us bottles of champagne to celebrate. He made our trip unforgettable.
It was so clean, hand sanitizer everywhere the staff wore their masks all the time and everything was packaged before we used it, like our silverware, towels, food was covered and house keeping was always super clean. I cant get over how nice the staff was not one person was rude to us or pushy. We will definitely be going back soon. Thank you for making this trip so amazing.

We took our family of adults and teenagers to the Vista Encantada Spa Resort in Cabo San Lucas over Christmas. Without question, it was the most remarkable vacation we have ever taken. First, the resort exceeded every expectation in providing the perfect balance of luxury and quaint comfort. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food for AI. Our first night we had dinner at MESTIZO DEL MAR and our server, Mario, and the wait staff turned service into a delightful production, with plates landing on the table in sync, and a table side caesar salad that was as impressive as it was delicious.

Secondly, the service allowed us to truly let go and be on vacation, something I have never experienced together. Omar, our butler, ensured every detail was aligned - from scheduling shuttle transfers to excursions and dinners. He made us feel at home, encouraged us to catch the sunrise (one of our favorites) and remembered the names and details of our family members.

They took COVID precautions to new heights. Upon returning from town, we'd walk through a sanitation tunnel and have our temperature taken. Silverware was wrapped in plastic and handed to us using tongs. Even the pool towels were wrapped in plastic. Housekeeping would do a deep clean of our room every day. Not just straighten things up and make the beds, but hours of sanitation. In short, we felt appropriately distanced and safer than in our hometown.

Our first visit to the new Vista Encatada at hacienda Encatada did not disappoint. First Of all the location is amazing. All the rooms have a beautiful view of the ocean and balconies are totally private. We had a two bedroom which included a plunge pool and a grill as well as lots of shaded outdoor seating. The rooms are first class and extremely roomy. Bathrooms are huge with double shower heads and walk in showers. Master has a beautiful soaker tub. Kitchen is well appointed with all appliances (no oven) and nesprsso machine for a nice touch. The Vista Encatada has approximately 36 rooms so is quiet and not crowded. The rooftop pool looks both towards the arch and up the coast. We could watch whales from our room and the pool area. Amazing gym, great restaurant and impeccable service. Only downside is the room Service. Limited menu and extremely slow service. A resort of this caliber should have a much better room service selection.

This place has beautiful rooms, so nicely decorated. The art work is awesome!
The people are so nice and helpful for the most part. They have all inclusive as an option here but based on the meals we have had here, I’m glad we didn’t choose it. We are not big eaters and drinkers so thats not our thing.
Improvements they could make: they charge $14 per person round trip into town. With a few people in your party that gets to be a bit much if you go into town often, which we do because the restaurants are better. Also why should I have to pay to go to the marina to eat at one of their “golden zone” restaurants, the restaurants that are part of their place? There are so many good restaurants in Cabo, that out of principal I will not eat at theirs. When a place is in an inconvenient location, they should provide free shuttle service to town. Pueblo Bonito Sunset has free shuttles for everyone not just those who are on all inclusive plans.
You are not even allowed to have personal water bottles at the pools. They want you to buy their water bottles which is wasteful and not good for the environment. I also need electrolytes in my water. I have never had someone tell me we couldn’t have our own water. Also the music at the pool is loud and the same track all day, every day. We have talked to others who also have asked them to turn it down, but they don’t listen. We have memorized all their songs after being here for a week.
They have a tennis court on property which is nice but we were told it was first come, first serve, but when we got there the first morning, someone was playing and she had reserved it. We made a reservation for the next day and same person was there. They had messed up on our reservation which was the next day after that. Now today we went for our reservation and they had finally washed the courts! Why did they have to do that when the court was reserved? Pickle ball can be played on a wet court, but tennis can’t. That makes 3 times we have gone to play and couldn’t.
Decks are beautiful and large but there is construction going on so you can’t sit on your deck because of the noise. My understanding is that it will be a year to a year and a half before this is done.

So yes the place is gorgeous, but they have some issues they need to resolve before I would come back.

Dear Melissa P, thank you so much for sharing your vacation experience with us. We cherrish it very much as the idea here is to learn on how to deliver a better service on a daily basis. We appologize for the restriction in bringing your own beverages and food to the Swimming Pool area. This is a resort with specific rules made for everybody's comfort and safety. In Cabo there's a very strickt taxi union that doesn't allow us to have free shuttle services between properties. Other resorts in town do include these shuttle services into their room rate, so the guest still pays them. We will continue delivering the best services for your enjoyment and appologize agaain for the confusion. Cordially, Jean-Louis and team.

Based on the prices during our recent stay, the $80 would be for two people, not per person. We called the representative who sent us emails prior to our arrival (there are several emails from several entities, this was from customer service and was specifically about all-inclusive) and discussed the all-inclusive options. He mentioned an all-inclusive option that did not include alcohol, but we did not end up taking that one so I don't have the details. I don't think we saw anyone on that plan while we were there, but you could inquire about all-inclusive with no alcohol.

There are two AI options for seniors if purchased before you arrive - one is for food only; the other is for food plus non alcoholic beverages. Contact the resort for details

If I remember correctly, I was able to lean my arms on the infinity edge and look over. There is a splash area beneath and then a steep drop off. But it did not seem unsafe to me. Certainly not safe for a kid to be climbing on that edge but not an issue for just swimming in the pool. But there is not a glass wall or any fence.
