I admire the proprietor’s efforts in this remote place, with close access to lovely hotspings. The accommodations offered are sparse rooms, which we expected. The rooms were moderately clean and stiflingly hot. Despite cool air outside, a small window, and fan, it was an uncomfortable night in the room. There was a boil water advisory, so the provided bottled water was appreciated. The restaurant was closed, but they had sandwiches and snacks for sale. When we checked in, the host said they offered coffee and muffins for breakfast in the dining area - I misunderstood this to mean they were included in the stay, but she meant that they sold them. There was coffee and muffins set out on a buffet table in the morning with no signage or prices. I was confused when asked to pay for breakfast on our way out. It was a misunderstanding and I willingly paid, but felt shamed by the cashier for being confused. Awkwardness on both sides could be avoided by posting a menu of offerings and prices above the buffet table. The lodge itself is a cute place. I hope they are able to address the airflow, update the bedding, and offer more friendly customer service to make this a more attractive place to stay.

We last visited this Lodge when it was run by Trapper Ray. It was homey and the food was great. Now it has a different owner and that has resulted in a drastic lack of quality and attention to tourism needs and remote Highway issues. We weren’t told two crucial points when we phoned to book our room; the restaurant was not open and there was a boil water advisory. For the price of $169/night I think this was crucial information. They did have sandwiches available. The beds feel like they haven’t been replaced since our last visit twelve or so years ago. The lady running the lodge was apologetic. But that doesn’t fix the high price and no amenities. This is a remote part of the Alcan Highway and I think some services are crucial. Stay at the Rocky Mountain Lodge at Muncho Lake instead

We had the nicest time staying here for a couple of nights on our way back home to the Yukon. We used to stay in Ft. Nelson or Muncho on our overnight but decided to stay here this time.

The price was very reasonable and it’s right across the way from the hot springs, literally walking distance! The hotel has all you need, a warm bed, hot showers and a restaurant that’s open all day. Don’t judge a book by its cover, although the rooms are rustic, you will be very comfortable. Perhaps bring some ear plugs as the only downside I found was the walls are thin (at least in our room). This was no big deal as the other guests were quiet at bedtime and respectful of each other.

The staff were also all so kind and hospitable! We spoke with a staff member, a lovely lady named Germaine (spelling ?) and she told us of all the people she has met travelling through. I always enjoy hearing those stories and she clearly loves working here.

Give this place a chance and you will not be disappointed, we most definitely were not!

See you again next time Liard Hot Springs Lodge !

The staff went above and beyond the service call in my experience for a rural area motel/hotel. The cleaning person was super friendly and with a smile got us extra towels when asked. There was a water boil notice and they gave us some bottled water without asking. Gave some tips about the sights in the area and things to do. Didn't order any food but overheard a couple saying it was good.

Where to begin? The Springs is what drew us there, the staff and Lodge is what will bring us back. The lodge is open 8am to 8pm (same for gas). If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, you are not going to find it. But if you like simple and easy and rustic, this is your 5 star. The beds were super comfortable and the breakfast (not included, but very reasonably priced) was the best on the trip. You can’t beat home cooked meals!! The hot springs were magical and relaxing. Recommend driving and parking at the entrance during winter months, but the walk is doable and scenic!

Maybe we just got unlucky and got the worst room in the place, but of three weeks traveling across the continent staying in a variety of hotels, motels, and B&Bs, there were only two we ended up leaving even though we had already paid for the night. This was one of them.

The lodge was what you would expect, rustic but nice. However, the door to our room opened right into the busy sitting area where people were watching television. We could hear every word they were saying, so obviously they could hear us as well. There was not even a tv in our room to block out our voices a little. There also was no internet. What tipped the scales was the bathroom with just a sliding curtain for a door.

Again, there were rooms upstairs that were probably much better than ours, but our room had zero privacy from inside with no bathroom door, to outside with people sitting right outside the room door.

The check in is done in the cafe. There was one person and she was delivering food, answering the phone, and checking you in. I had called and made a reservation which she found immediately but then took a call and made me wait. Not a big deal but it was at the end of a 12 hour drive for us. The room we got for $149.00 was pretty shabby. The water is not potable so she gave us two bottles waters to drink. There are two short staircases to climb with your suitcases. The ventilation was one small window that faced their RV camping area. Pretty noisy all night long. They close everything at 8 pm. Dining and gas. Not open again until 8am the next morning. We tried to buy gas before they closed but they were too busy with the cafe so we had to either wait until 8 the next morning or drive 80 miles to Muncho Lake. We were on a schedule so we chose the later option. The Hot Springs are $5 a person admission but nicely maintained and worth a visit. The spring is not affiliated with the lodge. I parked our pickup truck behind the lodge and got cussed out by the owner as he was taking out the trash. We weren’t blocking anything but he purposely drove extremely close to our truck even after I offered to move it. There was no reason for this to happen at all. I offered to move the truck when I saw him driving to the area. Then he chose to cuss at me instead of being a normal person. I would not stay here again. Muncho lake lodge is much nicer. I would use the hot springs and drive another hour or so for better treatment. No TV and Wi-Fi only works for email.

We ate many of our meals over a 3 day period at the restaurant at the lodge. We spent our 15th anniversary camping at Liard Hot Springs, and treated ourselves to breakfast a couple of times and dinner and lunch as well, during our stay. Every meal was delicious, prepared with care, and they keep their place very clean. The staff are so lovely. We got to know a few of them by name and shared a few stories back and forth. We enjoyed reading the letters, learning about the history of the place, admiring the pictures, all which they had displayed on their walls. They helped make our 15th anniversary that much more special!

We just had our first expire at the Lodge and it far exceeded our expectations. The lodge was clean and cozy and our room had everything we need with comfortable beds and pillows. I believe they somewhat recently had a change over in staff and the ladies and gentlemen running things now are awesome!! Germaine was who we interacted with the most and I haven’t met a kinder more genuine person. No odd request of mine had an eye batted at it and although we packed and prepared all our own food the restaurant smelled amazing!
Definitely worth stopping and if you have been disappointed in the past, give them another shot, you won’t be disappointed.
Oh and the hot springs are a 15 minute walk from your room!!!

Was forced to stay at Liard Lodge on a very cold December day because of a flat tire. It turned out to be a god-send. A beacon in the wilderness. It was minus 30 outside and my car got a flat and started acting up because of the cold temperatures. Smokey (Wilf) and the cook had just returned from a brief holiday. As luck would have it they were amazing and got me back on the road by the next afternoon. I had a very nice stay in a basic room that was clean, comfortable, and cozy warm. The food was basic and good as well. Wilf was fantastic with his knowledge of tires and cars in general. He went way above and beyond to get me back on the road. They made sure I phoned when I got to Watson Lake to make sure I was safe and sound. What a couple of great guys and a great place.
