Due to the Coronavirus my girlfriend and I stayed at Granada Beach Resort for 2 months to escape the lockdown. Staying at this amazing resort instead of in Cebu city proved to be a great decision! The owners Mike and Lisa, along with the other staff, took excellent care of us and treated us like family for the duration of our stay.

The resort itself is one of the best we have stayed at in the Philippines; the rooms are spacious and beds very comfortable, the pool is clean and refreshing (thanks to Mike’s endless pool cleaning), the beach area is private and relaxing with a nearby reef for snorkelling.

A particular highlight of our stay was the food - Lisa provided us with delicious meals which will make great additions to the new menu! The restaurant overlooks the bay and is a lovely place to eat the tasty and very reasonably priced food. The bar is well stocked and has plenty of drinks and cocktails to choose from.

I can’t recommend this resort highly enough, it’s a must stay when visiting Cebu. A big thanks again for taking care of us and we’ll be sure to return in the not so distant future!

I have been meaning to write this review for months!

My husband and I were due to spend our honeymoon in March 2020 in Cebu and surrounding islands, however COVID put a stop to this and we actually got stuck at Granada for over a month. But what a month it was!

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed in to resort life, the tranquillity of the site and the calming sound of the waves meant we were able to completely relax.

Sadly a couple of days in to our stay, the island and then the country, were put in to total lockdown and so our plans got cancelled. This did not stop Mike and Lisa (and their beautiful dogs) from moving in with us and 5 other Brits. Granada became our home and the other guests with M&L became our family.

The rooms are spotless, every amenity that you could wish for is available in them and if it was not there then the staff would do everything they could to make sure we were comfortable.

The food is fantastic, there were so many options and we had the luxury of eating fresh every day with a choice from a wide variety on the menu. The bar was fantastically stocked full of beers, wine, spirits and soft drinks so there is something for everyone.

The location is idyllic. Sat on the edge of the peninsula, you have an undisturbed view of the ocean and other islands around. There is a stunning, untouched reef with the most wonderful 'drop off' that is teaming with life. It is so rare to find a reef in this world that is not bleached. The water is warm and completely clear - if you are lucky you will find the resident turtles.

If you are looking for a mainstream hotel then do not stay here. HOWEVER if you are looking for a hotel that genuinely cares about their guests and will ensure that you have the most magical time - whether it be 2 nights or 2 months, Granada is the place for you.

We were lucky enough to stay with Mike and Lisa at Granada and found friends in them as well as wonderful hosts. We can't wait to come back to see you as soon as we are allowed! Thank you for everything, you kept us sane and happy in such a tough time for everyone!

It's perfectly solemn and exclusive in there. The owners are very hands on and the staff are super friendly. The food is top class and at a very reasonable price. The amenities they have on the place is accessible and they've made sure that everything is sanitized after every use. What amazed me is that you can go snorkeling with the complete equipments for FREE. Yes free. Whatever you may have spent on some other resort just to snorkel, you can save it. It was my first time snorkeling and I have immediately fell in love with it. The view underwater is stunning, the reefs at Granada is definitely something to look forward to. The view from their bistro is breath-taking, imagine eating heavenly food with an ocean-ly view, perfect right? From that view in the morning, you could see the locals doing their routine daily swim trying to farm fishes and it's very interesting. Now let's talk about the room we chose, we chose the one with four poster bed obviously. I was with my boo, and take note there is no tv in the room, it was the perfect time to disconnect to reconnect. Granada gave us the time we need to rekindle our flame(it wasn't dying, it just got way hotter haha). The balcony is marvelous as well, you can definitely feel nature there. And to close this review our trip was supposed to be for the month of December last year but Odette happened and they were kind enough to let us choose our preferred date at a much later time so after 7 months from the original date, we finally made it. And boy am I glad we did. Granada, definitely a night to remember and a place to treasure. Kudos to the management and the people from Granada, you guys are gems. Definitely coming back! xoxo

Me and my wife stayed here for 4 nights I February 2020.

Staff and management was really helpful and at the same time they did a really good and professional job.

Resort is small, cozy and authentic. A piece of history with the old spanish watchtower on the edge of the pinnacle where the hotel is located.

Food and drinks is good and at resonable prices. Everything we tasted was delicious.

Tours with their own hotel guide can be booked. We did the whale shark tour to Oslob which was a major succes.

The private beach and the house coral reef is the icing on the cake. So much living coral, a lot of fish and some turtels.
The hotel offers free rental equipment for snorkeling (fins, masks, snorkels)

Go here if you want to relax, have a good time and slow down time.

If we return to Cebu, we will for sure visit again.

Hello Peter Thank you for the wonderful review of our property. It's a good feeling to receive such generous feedback, but it feels even better to know that we contributed to your relaxing holiday and much needed down-time. Not everyone knows how to switch off. You and your wife showed us the simplicity and joy of "being in the moment." Thank you again for staying with us at Granada. We look forward to welcoming you back. With best wishes.

Since my first visit to this place in Sept 2020, I’ve been going back monthly because I keep finding myself missing the view, the ambiance, and wonderful staff who have been consistent in the service they give. Granada Beach Resort has this intimate feel to it that even if the resort is fully booked it never feels crowded at all. I absolutely love the personal touches Mike and Lisa (the owners) put interacting with guests, they’re a very hands on couple that ensures their guests are satisfied and they’re open to suggestions and recommendations too!

There are so many things I love about this place. I love how each room is different with it’s interior but at the same time it’s the same as the rest when it comes to it’s feel and comfortability - the view in itself is breathtaking because if you open your door you’ll have the ocean view and if you open your balcony door a forest view awaits you. I love their food because it’s consistently prepared and presented well and the specials for dinner is something to look forward to! And oh, the best part is you can top it off with desserts that never disappoints: cherry cheesecake, butter bread pudding, apple crumble, and my favorite from their list is Lisa’s carrot cake - on first bite you know no ingredient was scrimped and it tastes soooo good! And oh, their spa services are topnotch too! I love the massages Ging-ging gives and the Banana Leaf massage that Manilyn does was so relaxing and rejuvenating that I look forward to getting another one when I come back.

I absolutely didn’t mind waking up at the crack of dawn and just hanging out by the bar with the sea view and just watching the horizon change colors or watching the sunrise by the tip of the peninsula by the watch tower. There is something magical about this place and I will definitely keep coming back!

We've become regular visitors at Granada Beach Resort, quite simply we can find no where better. Yet again we have relaxed in this peaceful, tranquil setting. Even though the resort was almost full, on many occasions we had the whole of the beach to ourselves. Who could ask for more. The service is always very good, and the new staff had obviously been well trained and indoctrinated in the Granada way. The restaurant and bar provide an intimate setting and commanding views of the bay. The food was delicious, presented in a top class way, and with the daily specials, offering plenty of choice. Housekeeping is always first rate.

For us, this small, very well maintained, value for money resort has everything we need for a getaway to remember. The owners remain dedicated to providing the best service and environment in which to enjoy. We've already booked for Christmas - it'll soon be here.

We stayed at Granda Beach Resort for 1 week and from the moment we arrived in the parking area we were absolutely blown away. We were welcomed by the staff members standing and waiting for us to enter with a ginger refreshment beverage and ice cold ginger infused towels to ensure the check in is absolutely pleasant. We were given a tour by the owner's to show us all the amenities and to our room's. The rooms were absolutely beautiful. A mixture of modern and a touch from nature. The food was out of this world. From flavor to texture to plate set up, the food is spectacular. From relaxing on the private beach, to snorkeling with turtle's, to experiencing private spa treatments over looking the ocean , to having a private candle light gourmet dinner on the beach, to being greeted by the friendly experienced staff everyday, to having a walk through a private jungle all I can say is WOW 10 out of 5!!! Thank you Granada for an amazing experience and see you soon.

We enjoyed Granada Beach Resort so much last September, we couldn't wait to get back. This peaceful resort is perfect for a relax and recharge. The private beach gave us hours of pleasure, and on more than one occasion we had it completely to ourselves - luxury. The pool, gardens, bedrooms and buildings are very well maintained and the Housekeeping staff keep the rooms to a very high standard indeed. We loved spending the evening having a cocktail (and there are plenty to choose from) before sitting down to a delicious meal. The food is great, very well presented, and with an additional special dish each night we were never short of choice during our 11 night stay. In our opinion, this resort is also excellent value for money. The staff are very attentive, friendly, and polite. The resort is closely and carefully managed, and the owners certainly made us feel part of their Granada family.

We have travelled extensively around the Philippines over the last 13 years and would rate this resort as the best we have stayed at. We are already planning our next visit. If you are contemplating staying at Granada Beach Resort, we would say give it a try, it certainly has our strongest possible recommendation.

We were in Alona , met an English couple who raved about Granada and recommended a stay IF we were lucky enough to find a free room. They were right - it is fabulous.

Mike and Lisa made us very welcome and despite not having a single free room for the 3/4 nights we stayed, they were able to move us around so we had some time in 4 different rooms. All were clean, well-decorated and quiet.

The views from the hotel are lovely. The beach private and secluded, the pool area relaxed with comfortable furniture, the restaurant excellent.

But what sets this resort apart is the standard of service - everyone wanted their guests to have a good time which is a testament to the management of the owners.

I loved that the hotel is adult only. Having just been in a resort hotel in Panglao filled with shouting children we were delighted to relax into the quiet of Granada.

We had a massage which was very good and highly recommended. Rented a scooter from Fast Eddie (a delightful chap) and explored the island.

We would have chosen to stay longer but unfortunately the hotel was full so Mike found us a hotel nearby and even took us there. Way above the level of service I have experienced elsewhere.

If you are lucky enough to find a room free at Granada Beach book it because you will not regret spending a few days at this super hotel.

My wife and I spent 3 days and 2 nights at this resort from Jan 16 to 19, 2020. We went to Cebu to go whale shark watching. We made reservations about a week before. Luckily they had a cancellation. We were picked up at the Cebu Airport by their friendly driver. First thing I noticed when we arrived at the resort was the fantastic view of the Strait of Cebu - breathtaking would be an understatement! The property is on top of a hill overlooking the Strait. There is a "Baluarte" or bulwark which is about 400 years old, near the edge of the cliff. We were greeted by a super friendly staff. Immediately, they processed our reservation and took us to our room that had a view. Room was very clean. We were told that breakfast was still available if we were hungry from the 4 hr drive from the airport. The first day was spent just lazing around, enjoying the view of the sea and the sea breeze that was constantly blowing. Later that day, we met the owners, Lisa and Mike. Lovely couple. The staff made arrangements for us to go whale shark watching in Oslob - next town from Boljoon, where the resort is located. After whale shark watching, we visited an old church that was built in 1599. There are lot's of other activities one can enjoy, like swimming and scuba diving. The best one for me was just laying under the coconut tree and enjoying the sea breeze. No TV, limited internet which is what I was looking for. Great getaway from the daily routine that all of us go through. I wish we had more time to stay but needless to say, we will be back. Not to forget - it's not an expensive resort to stay.

Thank you for contacting us. As business owners, we love dogs and have strong advocates about animals in general. In fact, we have adopted and rescued stray and abandoned animals ourselves. But as a business, Granada Beach Resort promotes peaceful and relaxation ambience for our resort guests. It is for this reason that pets are not allowed as guests at the resort. Best wishes!

Hello how far is the ride to the oslob whale sharks?
Answer from GranadaBeachResort
Good morning Maddy, Granada Beach Resort is approximately 20 mins from the whale sharks by van/car, 30 min by bus and 45 min by tricycle taxi. If there is heavier traffic such as around a holiday the commute can be longer.

Good morning Taryn, Thank you for your question and thank you Bev for the accurate reply about the distance from the airport, I don’t think I could have said it better myself. :-) About the waterfalls, I am assuming you are referring to Kawasan Waterfall, which is one of the better we’ll known waterfalls in the area. We are approximately 1.5 hours by van, or 2hours by bus. As for the second waterfall I am unfamiliar which waterfall you may be referencing so I am pretty sure it is not near us. Some of the other waterfalls in our area are Tumalog (15min), Aguinid Waterfall (45min), and our hidden gem, “Secret Waterfall” (50min). Hope this helps.

Good morning, thank you for your question. Currently at this time we do not allow day use. Our resort facilities are for resort guests only. Our Cliff Top restaurant is however open for lunch guests for dining from 12 noon - 3pm.
