The Grand Bliss at Vidanta Riviera Maya boasts a vibrant atmosphere replete with live music and family-friendly activities, nestled in a lush, picturesque setting. While the resort's array of amenities, including pools and restaurants, is a hit among travelers, some mention the hassle of navigating the spread-out facilities. Guests are divided on the rooms, with some finding them spacious and others pointing out the need for modernization and improved cleanliness. The staff's friendliness is often highlighted, despite occasional service hiccups. However, reviewers frequently express concerns over the high costs impacting the overall value of their stay.

We are members and have been coming here for several years. This year is better than it has been, because of the hard and friendly working staff. The resort is kept very clean and is well maintained, although the planks of the boardwalks could be better (they are uneven in places so I tripped a few times and even broke a flip flop).

Check-in takes a while by time you go to the central lobby and are actually taken to the Grand Bliss. It probably took an hour by time we were escorted to our room. We had a mold problem with our room but the front desk worked hard to find a new room for us.

We enjoyed the Beach Club daily, although we didn't like having to get there an hour before it opens to wait in line. However that said, Luis did an amazing and professional job trying to accommodate everyone's needs; Gilberto was also excellent! It was always a pleasure to see Dahlia every day as well when we got our towels. The service by Anselmo, Wilbert and Efrain was absolutely perfect, everyday. The rest of the waiters were so friendly as well, and we always enjoyed seeing their smiling faces every day: Julio, German, Orlando, Oned. In addition, it was so nice to see concierge Karen again, as well as meet Wendy and Geli this year. I do wish that more chairs had shade so that we didn't get sunburned. (Ouch).

We went to the Spanish restaurant which was very good, Frieda (which was ok), but the best restaurants were Quinto (server was Andres).and La Cantina. The problem with the restaurants is that as many said, they are New York pricing, but in Mexico, so we did go to Playa del Carmen several times for excellent and more reasonable meals.

I also the stretching class and aqua aerobicas with the Joy Squad who are getting better and better. Victor is so much fun with Aqua aerobicas, Rueben's stretching class is amazing, Emanuel puts over 100% into stretching and water aerobics, and Ariel's Zumba classes...omg! Cynthia and Valeria were also excellent!! Such a professional and friendly team!!

Some other key people who deserve recognition are: Beatriz (concierge at Grand Bliss, Roxana (front desk at Grand Mayan), Emer concierge at Grand Mayan were all helpful in resolving bills and answering questions. Reyes, the manager at the Beach Club, and Mayra at the Brio Gym ( I think that was her name) was always very helpful and professional. And it is always so nice to see Raul waiter at the Grand Mayan pool year after year.

So, if Vidanta would get more umbrellas and chairs at the pools, and really not allow people to reserve their seats at the pools, they could earn that 5th star from me. The question is....will management make that small investment for the happiness of their customers.

We were booked to stay at The Grand Bliss, but fortunately, they upgraded us to the Grand Maya section which was more central and closer to open amenities. The resort is very large and buildings are connected through wooden bridges. We got lost a few times the first two days walking around the premises, signs are not very consistent and there are not other visuals guiding the way (arrows, color coding). We stayed in a 2 bedroom suit. The room was clean and with enough space for 8 family members. The kitchen was a good size for our needs. Although only the main pool was the only pool open due to the contingency, there was enough space between us and other visitors. The food in the restaurants was good and prices reasonable. The tennis courts were open, but too hot to play for long (maybe misting systems could be installed in the perimeter of the courts, the same could be said about the transportation stops).
I was talked into attending one of their informational sessions about their timeshare because I was told it would last 90 minutes and I would get 50% of the amenities fee back, 10% discount of room charges, and $55 USD golf rounds. Everything was going very well until the 90 minute mark was getting closer and it seemed like we were not close to be done, I reminded our representative and he said "You should have told me, we could have skipped breakfast" (the presentation was during breakfast), he kept presenting us information, so I reminded him again that we had a commitment to go back to, and he went to get another representative (Alejandro) who got very pushy and aggressive in his demeanor towards us. Finally, they let us go but it was very uncomfortable, so I don't recommend attending their presentations.
The beach area is beautifully decorated and with lots of things to enjoy, including corn hole and ping pong games.
We also, attended their Joya show. The food was delicious and the show was good. It was not as big in production and musicalization as other Cirque de Soleil shows, but it had the basic elements.
In general, it was a very nice trip in which we could enjoy each other's company in a safe and fun environment.

This is basically a very nice resort, but with a catch. They demand a US$420 "amenity fee" in advance and refund half once you have attended a high pressure sales presentation. Our stay was spoiled by the location of our apartment, which had tractor propelled shuttle trains roaring by every few minutes for 21 hours a day, from 5 am until 1:30 am the next day.

We stayed at the Grand Bliss as part of a timeshare exchange. The resort is massive and is located in a lush jungle setting. We were concerned about mosquitoes, but did not find them to be a problem. The rooms are a bit dated, but well maintained. There is a transportation system that runs throughout the resort that is reliable. The transports are quite noisy, so make sure your room doesn't back up to a road on which they travel. Food quality at the restaurants is good, but rather pricey. There is a very small grocery store on site that had basic items not outrageously priced. The resort staff is friendly and eager to please. We did have to pay a $420 resort fee, which covered quality internet service. Make sure to check your bill as we were charged separately for the aforementioned internet service as well as some water bottles we didn't use. Those were corrected when brought to the concierge's attention. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

We love this resort! We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with 2 boys and had so much room. There are 2 pull out couches in the living room so you could easily sleep 4 more. Both bathrooms had a jacuzzi which was fun. We brought some staples and supplemented the first night with basics from jade the on site store. You could easily cook in your room with basics from Jade-they even had frozen chicken strips and frozen steak filets. The prices were really high for snacks but other stuff was reasonable. We did go into town for dinner and bought everything from Soriana. We did breakfast and lunch in the room (or packed sandwiches and fruit for the pool).
We were on the first floor which gave us a terrific view of wildlife from terrace. We did eat in Salum 2 times and it was delicious and so beautiful and relaxing in the evening. I don’t understand the negative reviews. This resort is beautiful and so clean and taken care of. Every person we met was ready to help us in anyway possible and tolerated our attempts at Spanish.
I highly recommend coming to feel fully relaxed and away from your normal busy life.

Tips: if you want to swim in ocean bring water shoes it is rocky. Bring goggles or snorkel gear there are cool fish to view in ocean. Be prepared to walk and enjoy the stunning grounds. You can bring in your own food to pools except beach club so if you are on a budget do that. Happy hour drinks are great and boys loved a daily pina colada. You can do laundry for $6 a load-they provide detergent. Bring reusable water bottles to fill in room.

Our room had a mini kitchen that had 2 hot plates which made it possible to cook ourselves. We found that the prices of the on-site restaurants were very high. But the resort food that we did have was very good. The grounds were beautiful, the staff were friendly, and shuttles available to get to and from locations within the resort were great. Just wished for once that we wouldn't be hit on by 'time share' people to listen to their presentation.

First the good...service is exceptional, the room is very nice, love the long walks to get to the beach on the elevated walkways but can skip the bugs in the jungle. Bring bug repellent!!!!

Luis at the beach club is so friendly and always remembers your request and looks to help at all times.

The bad part is arriving and waiting for a ride to check in. The process adds at least an hour to your already tiring day. Then you go to your room and wait for your bags. This setup may be good for the resort but is a major pain.

Anselmo and Efraim are the best waiters at the beach club. Try to sit in the area one of them are serving and you will be able to see what truly great service is.

The internet is good as long as you are not vacationing on Christmas or New year when the resort is full.

The food at the resort is USA City price. Playa Del Carmen is full of great restaurants that are really inexpensive and much better. Don't be afraid to go to 10th or 20th Ave for better price.

Initially purchased this stay from a Facebook ad during the pandemic and hoped that the low price was not a scam. Since I have lost more in a week playing scatch tickets before I gave them up I figured take the gamble. It definitely paid off. The greenery of the property with refresh your respiratory system. If you are going into Cancun for excursions look for ones that provide transportation to and from as the 45 minute drive can add up in taxi fare but more of an inconvenience than a reason to stay elsewhere. The staff is truly amazing providing everything you want or need with a genuine smile on their faces. Something most places have forgotten how to do in the states. Comparatively we paid almost as much to park our car at the Disney Dolphin earlier this year and the only way to get maid service was to request it at least 24 hours in advance. Here the room was done while we were in Cancun and a knock on the door after dinner to make sure everything was okay and to see if we needed anything else before wishing us a good night. Even had a nice floral arrangement waiting for us when we got back. Still have a couple days left but wanted to make sure I did the review before I go home and get back into the work grind that doesn't leave me time for it. Never in 30 years did I play a scratch ticket that return was as great. Thank you to all of the staff that have made it the vacation of a lifetime in the first half of our stay.

Check in was not good, no clear direction to our main check in lobby, we got lost!
Immediately after check in we were approached by the timeshare person. For attending a one hour presentation we were offered $300US credit to our prepaid food and beverage credits. We’ll the timeshare presentation was extremely high pressure, way longer than one hour, closer to 5 hours! And when we said no to their offer we were sent to the next manager/director over and over. We spoke to no less than 8 people before they finally honoured their end of the offer. In our opinion the timeshare people lied to us and did not respect us. When we declined their offers they became blatantly rude.
We disliked the prepaying for food option. None of the staff could fully explain how the system works or how the remaining balance is calculated. We found it very misleading. We would never choose this option again.
All of the food, drinks and stuff in the gift shop was over priced. Yes everywhere inflation is causing prices to go up but here it was just too much.
In our unit we found the maids were quite noisy very early in the morning and inconsistent in cleaning our room. Various towels, bathrobes and linens would be in the room one day only, but gone or moved the next. Pillows were not placed on the beds everyday, sometimes scattered around the room??
It’s too bad, the resort was otherwise nice. Our room was upgraded to a unit in the grand Mayan, and most of the staff are pleasant.

I am a Vidanta owner and have been coming here since 2010, three times in recent years. This is a beautiful resort with friendly service. However, it’s important that your expectations are set. The resort is huge and distances to pools and restaurants, even with shuttles, can be long. I am 71 and still enjoy walking so the long walks on jungly boardwalks are a plus for me. If someone in your group cannot walk far, consider renting a motorized scooter. However, we found the shuttles were reliable to the lobby of the Grand Bliss. The beach is so-so, but the pools are beautiful. If you want to go to The Beach Club, be prepared to arrive 45 minutes in advance to get a poolside spot. Beachfront cabanas are still open a bit later. If coming on a time share trade, make note if you will have to pay a resort fee and go to a sales presentation. On a two-week stay, I did an owner’s update to get the 10 percent discount and it was not as onerous as in the past.

The food was uniformly good, but also pricier than my last visits. Prices (in pesos) can be reviewed on Vidanta app. Consider taking shuttle into Playa del Carmen for groceries. Also i suggest having big meals before some less expensive
restaurants close at 5 pm. On second visit to Tramonto, we shared all our courses and had plenty of food.

Service was good, but not as perfect as in the past. I assume it may relate to staffing up, post covid. Nighttime maid service was erratic and sometimes very late; pool bathroom floors in need of swabbing. Service slow at some restaurants, but we are on vacation.

We love the jungly atmosphere and privacy of our unit. We also loved encounters with wildlife. If you don’t want that, go elsewhere.

Everyone of my guests has raved about Cirque de Soleil as well as the creative dinner. We also treated ourselves to a cabana at Jungala, which seems to be largely empty. Also consider sampling the Mayan menu at Nektar—different from home.
