The Cancun Bay All Inclusive Hotel is praised for its value, particularly for short stays and those conscious of their budget, although some guests feel the amenities and service could be improved for the cost. While the rooms are acknowledged for their cleanliness, noise and maintenance issues have been noted. The service generally receives accolades for staff attentiveness and friendliness, despite occasional lapses. The hotel offers a range of activities, but some guests express disappointment when amenities like the pool bar are closed. The lively atmosphere and evening entertainment are highlights, though some suggest the rooms could be refreshed. Its location is appreciated for its serenity and proximity to attractions, and the hotel's cleanliness stands out, with commendable maintenance of the grounds and pools, and consistent room service.

We arrived on 23rd December and Reggie on reception was really helpful and friendly. I had previously emailed the hotel asking them to provide my parents a ground floor room, due to my mum struggling to walk, they provided this and we were just above them, we overlooked the quiet pool, restaurant and night bar area. The only down side was if entertainment, you wouldn't get much sleep until finished, could not complain as they provided what I asked for. Drinks are served 11-11pm they are ok, Hubby and Dad said Beer was good, they've certainly tasted a lot worse! the vodka did have a strange taste but was passable, I drank the cocktails mainly especially the "Mudslide" that was lovely, Zuly around the pool area and her colleagues were great serving you all day, she certainly remembered our orders and was great. The hotel let us use their wheelchair from stores for my mum as she was really struggling, it was wheelchair friendly and it certainly was helpful. Dad has a massage on the beach and said it was excellent, best one he's had a while. if you do sit around the pool, often during the day, they will play water polo or basketball, so expect to get a small splash every now and then, but nothing huge. The room was ok, bed was comfy, room made up every day and clean towels provided. The shower did occasionally drop pressure while under it, once it built back up about 1 minute later it was fine again. great that the toilet was separate, the mini fridge was stocked with 2 bottles of water, couple of cans and juice, which was replenished when used. all in all everything so far was ok.
The only thing I wasn't over keen on was the food, most of the time is wasn't warm, we always had cereal for breakfast as knew that didn't need heat, as someone has mentioned, the waiters weren't very attentive at getting you tea or coffee in the mornings, often we had to go over to the station and ask for hot drinks also if you wanted any condiments you had to ask for them as well, I get there was someone serving your food to stop cross contamination due to Covid, but more that 1 person would stop the queues forming and you may get warmer food. We did always find something to eat. The snacks around the pool bar at 11am were warmer and we would often eat there for lunch and didn't really go to main restaurant, mainly hot dogs, burgers, chips. salad, nacho's and often pork bites etc.

I’m currently staying in a room with a beautiful ocean view. From the moment we arrived we’ve seen how hard the employees are working to keep the resort clean and safe. They just opened the day before we arrived after being closed during the pandemic. For the small size we are very impressed with the food quality, delicious drinks, cleanliness, entertainment, and informative lobby staff. The concierge, Sam, did a remarkable job explaining the facilities as soon as we checked in. He has stopped by and greeted us during the day to make sure we’re enjoying our stay. The server in the snack bar and pool area, Zuly, is fantastic. She makes sure we always have a drink. She’s fun and has a great attitude. The bartender, Angel, makes delicious drinks. I’m picky and he he has been able to make lovely tropical concoctions to keep me happy. Miguel who works in the restaurant and snack bar has been helpful and kind. Housekeeping works very hard to keep the resort clean. Our room was in perfect shape after we returned from a tour yesterday. The food is very good and fresh. We were surprised that even the room service food was great and there is a lot of variety on the menu. We really like the setup of the main pool; it has a good flow and is so close to the snack bar. If you are looking for a small, inexpensive resort I recommend Cancun Bay.

Don’t believe the hype. If you are a person that is used to staying at 5 star hotels then this isn’t the place for you. However, if you are looking for a decent hotel, affordably priced, clean, with friendly staff, well this is for you. Small resort on the Bay. I traveled with my family of 4 to celebrate my daughters 10th birthday.

Pros :
Affordable

Only one of very few hotels with family suites that accommodate up to 5 per room

All inclusive

"Beach" area accessible from pool

Affordable massages offered by the pool/ beach area

Italian Restaurant is reservation only but extremely good and way better than the buffet food. I had my daughters 10th birthday here and the manager Gabriel charged only $40 usd to decorate with balloons and provide a cake.

2 pools and a kiddie pool

Swim up bar at adult only jacuzzi

Gym

Cons:
Beach area is rocky and not the crystal clear pretty blue you’d see if you were staying on the ocean front

Pool Bar food is terrible: everything is over fried and over cooked ( hotdogs, fries, onion rings, calamari). *every day I went there they advertised hamburgers and had a whole garnish bar set up yet every time I asked for a hamburger they didn’t have one.

Breakfast: Caters to Hispanic/ Latin cultures. Yes we are in Mexico but you have to have options for your American and British tourist. Breakfast included some type of nachos and retried beans for example. Waffles and pancakes were slim pickings. I’d suggest Cancun Bay start including American staples: bacon, pancakes, French toast, regular scrambled eggs, etc.

Buffet: Lunch and dinner were hit or miss. Some days the food was really good and other days not so much. Again like mentioned above there needs to be some basic recognizable staples for American tourist.

Tipping: Most of the wait staff was very gracious for any tips as some families weren’t tipping at all at the buffet or bar. We always tipped. However, I tipped $10 usd on the $40 usd I owed Gabriel the Italian restaurant manager for decorating and he seemed bothered as if it wasn’t enough especially seeing I had more money in my wallet. It made me a bit uncomfortable. I ended up tipping him $20 on a $40 dollar bill and gave the waiter for our table $20 as he was really nice and said he did the majority of decorating.

Front desk staff can be rude

Did not honor my 2pm check in that you apparently get when you’re registered as a Cancun Bay member.

I really want to do this review because I choose this hotel because of the reviews that I read. First of all I am very disappointed with the resort because I was thought that every resort is good. In the lunch time always is the same menu if you stay for 10 days you are going to eat the same food at lunch time and the dinner is a buffet but but it is very poor variety and you cannot serve yourself and it only one restaurant. The bars open very late and the pool bar closed early at 6:00 and the snacks closed at 5:30. The pools closed at 9:00 when I travel I would like to stay late in the pool but this hotel I cannot. The worst thing is the beach this hotel don’t have a beach there is a location where the boats staying I just travel there to enjoy the beach and sadly there is no beach. The only thing I liked was the hotel room there is ruge .

I recently spent 10 Nights here, this was my third time in Cancun having previously stayed at The Riu Cancun, the last time being in 2020. I'd booked this holiday with TUI only a few weeks before departure, the hotel was the very last drop off point on the airport transfer route, I was the only one left on the coach at this point.
I arrived early evening local time which felt a lot later due to the 6 hour time difference, the check in was fine, I didn't have to wait long & was given a welcome cocktail before I was shown to my room (353) a Superior room on the second floor overlooking the pool and had a nice sea view. The room was spacious, clean, plenty of hanging space for clothes although there wasn't any drawers only shelves. The Bathroom was big with a nice walk in shower, I had an early issue with the toilet not being able to flush but this was sorted out quickly. There was a flat screen TV on the wall which had a very temperamental remote control that wouldn't work a lot of the time, the only way to turn off the TV was to unplug it, apart from that I couldn't have any complaints about my room, it was very clean & the maids who I left a tip for every day did a great job. I spent the first day around the pool/beach area, the staff we're lovely & made sure I always had a drink, the Jacuzzi swim up bar was nice but closed too early (18.00)
So, here are the negatives, the food! ! the daytime snack bar by the pool wasn't too bad, burgers, chips etc, they had a BBQ a couple of times which was quite nice. The main buffet restaurant was dreadful, same repetitive things every day, often cold & tasted awful! I saw many people fill their plates and then get up and leave after tasting it!.. After the first few days I stopped going in apart for some coffee & juice at breakfast time. The location of the hotel was between the main party zone, bars etc & Downtown Cancun. A taxi would normally take around 10/15 minutes & cost around $20 USD (£16) quite a lot of money, especially if travelling solo, the regular bus service was a better and much cheaper (30 peso/£1.20) Around the hotel, apart from other hotels there wasn't much in the way of Bars & Shops etc. The Main Lobby Bar, although there was some entertainment every night, lacked any atmosphere and it had all finished by 10 pm, the Bar itself closed at 11 pm so if you wanted to go elsewhere for a drink a taxi or bus was the only option. The best day of holiday was a trip to Isla Mujeres which I bought from one of the vendors just along the beach, the food we had there was lovely!
Overall, although I definitely would not stay here again, I did enjoy my stay but wish I'd paid more and stayed at different hotel nearer to everything, with more going on then would't have had to spend a lot more money on eating out and paying for taxis etc.

This is our second time visiting Cancún Bay Resort & our stay was phenomenal once again!! We love the service that was provided to us from our first day to our last, my family & I were well taken care of during our stay. We went last September & most restaurants in the hotel were close due to the pandemic which is understandable..now this time around every thing was open & the food was awesome! The meseros Guadalupe & Luis went above & beyond we really appreciate the great service we were given by them & once again we will be back to this great hotel hopefully in January. We stayed at the penthouse & it had a beautiful view to the beach & the person who was cleaning our rooms was great as well for always maintaining our rooms clean & fridges full with beverages. Thank you for your excellent service Cancún Bay Resort!!

I decided to try a smaller all-iclusive resort rather than my normal large resort. This came up and seemed right for the price. Room was ample, overlooking the large pool and bar (closes at 23:00, which was ok as long as you did not want/need an early night), bed was just right side of hard for me, Loved the Sushi Bar, have never really tried Sushi, but this has opened my eyes. The Trattoria had a small menu but was excellent, very tasty and well cooked, the staff were brilliant, Eme, Raul and Alejandra, thanks. Eduardo made the best Mojitos. Liked the small scale, eveyone was friendly from every country, well almost all. There was some youngsters who were noisy but containable, but you have to expect that from Cancun, as they say beach all day, party all night. Could always get a sunbed, but could imagine it being tight during "busy" periods. The buffet restaurant had limited choice but what they did was well cooked and tasty and leaning towards Mexican, well you are in Mexico so go with it. My one disappointment was due to the small size of this resort the choice in the buffet was small and no "chef" slot, maybe I have just been spoiled over the years, my staff choice here was Willy, what a great guy. Had 10 really good days here, booked a trip to Tulum express with the local agent in the hotel with Cancun Passion, was great. Nearby you have an amazing choice of water trips, catamaran, tri-maran, speedboats, you name it and it is next to hotel, try the jungletours for speedboat, but do not expect any jungle, but the mangrove in the lagoon were worth it. I would like to pass on my thanks to all thre staff, you made the holiday, from Chris, security to reception, the cleaning teams and the bar and restuarants. My suggestion would be that the large pool be reduced and have more space around it for sunbeds and larger outside eating area, whilst I was there the pool was hardly ever used.

The hotel is ok but I expected a little more from a hotel rated 4.5 on trip advisor.

The room I was given (in suite 200) didn't have a safety box, the minibar made a loud noise, the telephone and the air conditioning didn't work. I complained at the front desk and they called maintenance but there was no way, it was broken and beyond repair. The attached toilet box was leaking badly and I fixed it.

It may be that the other rooms are better or refurbished but this one disappointed me. Then I changed rooms and the one facing the sea was better.

About the restaurants, breakfast was good, with variety and quality. Except the juices. They are all very bad, there is no natural fruit juice. And they are all sweetened. They don't have a themed restaurant but they transform the pool bar into a Japanese restaurant and the beach bar into an Italian or barbecue restaurant. In these restaurants the food is good. Japanese is indeed the best of them.

Lunch and dinner ok, nothing special served.

Drinks are not good, the sparkling wine is too sweet. The next day I asked for a sparkling water with lemon and they brought a non-alcoholic margherita. But the water was salty. A salty lemonade.

The staff is mostly friendly, especially Yamili and Rodolfo, they are always trying to interact. Victor should teach more acqua gym classes :-).

The hotel has good beach and bath towels and sheets.

The location is ok, right on the sand and next to the pier where boats leave for Isla Mujeres. One important thing is they manage to keep two beach areas clean for swimming. On the sides there is a lot of sargassum.

In the end, it is not a luxurious hotel, but it has enough for a guest to rest.

My boyfriend, our 2 adult daughters and their boyfriends spent 3 nights at this resort. We were impressed with Cancun Bay from the time we pulled up to the front door. The bellhops greeted us and showed us to the reception desk. Checking in was a breeze, and because we arrived long before check-in time, we were invited to eat lunch and spend some time at the pool. While this is an older property, it has been nicely updated and all 3 of our rooms were very clean, had wonderful views of the ocean, and the air conditioners blew cold! The beach area is very small, and located in between lots of big boats. The pools were nice, and we really enjoyed the swim-up bar. The food was overall good. We loved the items offered at the snack bar, but breakfast and lunch got to be a little monotonous by the 4th day. Dinners were great as they changed their menu/theme daily. The staff was so welcoming and accomodating and we couldn't have asked for better service. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back!

This place was clean and everything was better than expected. The buffet and bar hours were nice and extended making it easy to not use room service (which has a fee). The room was nice (we had the master suite with 3 bedrooms), however, washcloths, paper towels, kleenex would have been nice additions. The pool area/bar was very nice and the snack bar was nice for when you wanted a burger and fries. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Would recommend as long as you understand this is not a 5 star resort, I do think its better than a 3 though. We would return. Definitely a good bargain for the price. We took our 3 sons, 16, 18, and 20.

There are two seperate buildings. If you’re in the main building, there is a lift but, it can be very confusing at times to use. The pool outside has stairs to get in, no ladders, but the shaded pool inside is only ladders (I think). The pool outside has a ramp also to get into the pool area. The beach area may be difficult to get to though. In terms of food, your best bet would be the fruit, salad, and bread. There is cereal for breakfast daily as well as a toaster. Some nights, pasta was an option but, not consistently.

The wifi works great, it’s true, there is no bacon or sausage for breakfast, by googling the hotel you can find pictures of the hotel and there are some pictures of buffet area, they do have a person, doing omelette’s or fried eggs made to you request , they have another area by the pool bar where I believe you can order a la cart , but we didn’t try it, we just used the main restaurant close to the lobby, and it is buffet , breakfast, lunch and dinner
