Each month of May (our favorite time to visit) we celebrate a birthday! We've been coming to the Buganvilias Vacation Club for many years going from the studio to the Presidential to the Imperial and Sky Suites! Puerto Vallarta is our favorite Mexico destination of all the others! You can walk to the Malecon from the Buganvilias or take a bus for a quick trip. The town is very family friendly and has amazing restaurants.
When you arrive at the Buganvilias you will notice their most recent addition...the new sports bar and restaurant and inside, an asian restaurant. Their newly remodeled lobby has the most impressive design of any Mexican resorts that we have stayed in. The employees take such pride in their work environment and many have become friends over the years. The reservations staff are very accommodating and easy to work with. The guest relations director, Patricia Delgado manages an amazing staff and is always on board, welcoming and helpful. I can't say enough about these people!
The Sunday champagne brunch is something we have never missed in the beautiful open air restaurant. The selections get better each year. The wait staff are amazing! And the musicians are so very talented!
As you walk through the gardens there are always grounds people at work and always with a friendly "hola!" Our suite(s) are impeccably taken care of daily, always with little added touches! From the moment we arrive until we sadly leave, our needs are taken care of!
We have watched updates taken place in the accommodations each year and really enjoy our Presidential Sky Suite and newly acquired Imperial Suite. Two weeks to look forward to every year! Can't wait to be back in our favorite Mexican city!

We have been owners for over 20 years and every time we visit our experience is different. Sometimes good sometimes bad. I wish it could be more consistent. Once good thing they recently have done is updated the lobby and added a bar/grill out front that is very modern and clean looking. They also added a nice spa with pretty good prices with the discount they offer from the staff working the pool to advertise.
Pros: My kids like the pottery painting station. Nice break from pool time. New clean spa. Pool waiters are great. Happy hour 2 for 1 drinks is the best by the pool. Not far from town (the Malecon) Close to grocery and Walmart for shopping. Rooms are good size. All rooms face the ocean. Fireworks a few nights a week are fun to watch.
Cons: The maintenance fees over the years have increased 300% which is why we can't wait to be done with this place. Beach is rocky (go somewhere else) Food is ok. Buffet is expensive and terrible for vegetarian choices. (But they did offer a few Gluten Free choices.) Rooms haven't been updated in 20 years (but there is construction always going on so slowly they are updating). Kids club is lame and geared to toddlers. Pool was slimy and I questioned how often they do a deep clean!!!! Hot tub was green in the grout and gross. Needs a good cleaning.

I received a call from manager Guillermo Urtiaga, last week, inquiring about my health and updating me on the coming season. He verified the weeks that I have during the winter and informed me that the Club would reopen June 1st. I have booked my ticket for the weekend of Nov. 28th from Newark Airport. Cancellations are allowed at the resort through October 2020, with no penalty. UA will also allow cancellations with no penalty.
I left the club on March 22, after spending a wonderful winter, Dec. through March. It was the first time that I was there alone, since my husband passed away the previous May. The entire staff were solicitous because they knew my husband and me for more than 25 years. I renewed my contract three years earlier but couldn't vacation in 2018. I kept some items in storage, and although during the renovation storage items had been moved to another location, everything was intact, and the items were delivered to my room upon arrival. The head of the porters staff, Manuel Barragan, took charge of the move and was very efficient and courteous throughout my stay. For many years, I've also benefitted from the services of Jorge Zarate Urritia, who was my trainer at the gym and who now supervises appointments at the Spa of the hotel, to which Club Buganvilias also has access. I've had great massages and hydrotherapy there, and it is a beautiful spa. I hope that, once it is safe, the spa will be able to resume its services. We often don't acknowledge the importance of management when an operation is efficient. My experience at the Club Buganvilias is that leadership comes from the top. The owners, members of the Garciarce family that have operated the Sheraton and the adjacent Club Buganvilias since their opening, hire efficient personnel.
Puerto Vallarta has been diligent about closing down for 2 months, including bars, restaurants, stores other than those serving food for takeout, hotels, resorts, and schools. P.V. is opening up as of June. The Club Buganvilias is now undergoing a thorough cleaning. I'm in contact with Mexican residents, and I learned that, at end of March, cars from Guadalajara and Mexico City had been barred; flights had stopped because the two cities had cases of the virus. My stepson and his wife, who reside in P.V., report that people are social -distancing and wear masks in town. I am confident that the resort will be managed carefully going forward.

This is a beautiful resort with grounds that are like botanical gardens. We have stayed here over the years for a total of over 5 months. They are always improving and updating. I would give it 5 star except for the customer service. Almost every single time we have asked for a different room or location other than what they have assigned, we get excuses and lies as to why they cannot accommodate us. You have to keep asking and the 2nd or 3rd person will usually help you with your request. It really makes me angry and am tired of that part of this resort.

I was very impressed by three of the employees at the Resort:
Marco M. the waiter at the timeshare pool was impressive! He was very friendly, attentive and provided information on all of the restaurants at the resort.
Christina Mora, our housekeeper did a great job on our room and returned to the room to find whimsical animal shapes out of our towels. She went the extra mile.
Giselda, the young lady at the pottery painting palapa was extremely friendly and helpful to us when we painted our ceramic/pottery luminary. She took our elementary painting project and made it look like it was professionally done.

We stayed in a two bedroom/two bath unit with full kitchen and the space was more than adequate, well maintained, and very clean. There was daily maid service (Briyith was super] and the elevator service up and down was very efficient. The heated pools and various restaurants were great. I would highly recommend doing the Sunday Brunch as it was fabulous. During the week I used the Maiave Spa and Beatrx provided a great service. Lastly, all the staff were all so cheerful, accomodating, and helpful with any and all our needs during our stay. A special shout out to Manuel, Bellman Captain! We hope to return again.

Great location and views but outdated rooms. Loved the view from Room 2264 as it was a spectacular view of the ocean. Location of resort was an easy walk into downtown or back to hotel zone and it's many restaurants and shops. Restaurants and pool area was very good to excellent. Staff was friendly and great service and support from bell staff. The room was poor however. Everything in room was outdated. Room was of a two star quality. Crappy hot plate that took long to warm up even to just cook a few eggs. Cheap toaster and coffee maker and cheap plastic furniture to sit on well you enjoyed the fantastic view. Shower stall looked unclean but wasn't. With Sheraton now part of Marriott we were dissapointed especially as Gold Members as this did not meet the quality of a room we were expecting. Although we wre told The Club is not part of Marriott by the staff there. Yet throughout resort they welcomed Bonvoy members. We had a great week at the hotel and enjoyed the area but unless you get one of the updated rooms I would choose a different place.

we stayed here for two weeks in february 2020 and loved every minute, The room has a lovely sea view and was fresh and clean kitchen area small but well equipped the nine ninety bar was nice and the food reasonably priced and tasty. The larger pool bar staff were excellent Marcos and Alejandro looked after us very well we really felt relaxed from hour one. We did the tour and had a good breakfast also making friends with the rep who we spent a great day with as he took us to beautiful Yelapa a day we will not forget thank you Raphael :) No complaints from us at all cant wait to go again.

We had a 2 week stay and were told at chechin to apdate room keys at end of 1st week. When we went to update keys we were told we had half an hour to vacate room and move to another room. We were furious but quickly packed up and returned to front desk at 1030 am to get new room keys. We were told that the room was not available until 4 pm . We demanded to speak to the manager. We told him that we had a refrigerator full of food and this was ridiculous and unacceptable to have to go through this. We should have been booked into a room for the 2 weeks without a change. Amazing the room became available. The new room had a safe and coffeemaker that didnt work but coffeemaker was immediately replaced. Management also allows for pool and beach chairs to be draped with towels at sunrise and not be used until after lunch inspite of the signs stating chairs cannot be saved and towels will be removed after 2 hours unattended. That policy was never enforced. The plus side is the resort is beautiful and so close to walking into town as well as being right at the bus stop. The sunday brunch was wonderful .

First of all, the recent renovations are fabulous. When you add the great rooms to the perfect location (walking disance to town) it is hard to go wrong.
The response of this resort to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis was incredible - they went above and beyond industry standard to assist travelers with unprecedented last minute cancellations beyond their control....waiving penalties and rescheduling as possible. That was not necessarily the case with other resorts - for that reason alone I would recommend booking with Buganvilias.

There was people at a couple of desks as well as an info desk when you first come in. I would assume that one of them probably does help to book tours.
The "A" building (Tower) - The ground floor is number #11, the top floor is #25. Floors 24 & 25 are completely renovated. Two mid-level floors, I believe 16 & 17 are completely renovated. Two floors, I believe 18 & 19 were undergoing complete renovations as of Dec 2022. Floors 22 & 23 had updated linens and appliances but the original floorplans. Below 16 are the same today as they were when we first arrived in 2002.
There are more places to choose from in the Puerto Vallarta area.
