Finest Punta Cana By The Excellence Collection All Inclusive receives mixed reviews, with guests appreciating its picturesque location and the plethora of amenities, particularly the options for families and the immaculate resort layout. While the atmosphere is praised for being both vibrant and peaceful, some guests have concerns regarding noise and unexpected charges that detract from the value. Rooms are generally celebrated for their space and luxury, but cleanliness and service inconsistencies have been noted. Service, however, is often lauded for its staff's exceptional care and professionalism.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here for 1 week in September 2023 as part of a 2 week trip to Punta Cana (see my other review for the first week which was spent in Iberostar Coral Level).

Please bear with me on my long story but I just want to show how the hotel managed to turn an OK vacation into an amazing one:

Service:
10/10
First impressions of the resort are beautiful, high class, elegant. You get the usual Excellence welcome (anyone who has been to an Excellence resort before will know what I'm talking about) with the sparkling wine and cold towel, and then you are directed to your check in.

Checkin was fast and easy as I had already checked in online. We were offered a paid upgrade but it was too expensive as we had already paid to upgrade from the basic Junior suite to the Swim up suite.

Well... we got to our room and it was such a disappointment. The swim up suites are on the east side of the resort and they are currently facing a construction zone. There is a new hotel being built next door (Secrets Tides) and of course you can see and hear heavy machinery, lots of construction workers talking and music being played from boom boxes. They did not advertise this on the brochure!! Needless to say, I complained immediately as this was not set up for a quiet relaxing week for my wife's birthday. The bell boy used the room phone to call the front desk for us and say that I was not happy.

At that moment, all they could offer us was a slight discount on the paid upgrade to a Family suite (finest club) with Private Pool, which they wanted $800 for for the 7 nights. No way was I about to fork out that much money when I was essentially missold. The manager kept telling us that the construction was not from their company and that there was nothing they could do. I unhappily stopped arguing, and after talking with my wife we decided to accept the room and try to live with it. So we unpacked, and stayed the first night in that room. I used the swim up pool but started to notice that all of these swim up rooms are not kept in the best repair. The decks are tired and in need of new paint, the hammocks are old and algae stained, and the pool in general did not look as clean as I would expect. Lots of dead bugs and leaves. I took some photos with a view to strengthening my complaint the next day. The noise in the morning was not audible with the door closed but as soon as you opened the patio door, you could hear the diggers and other loud noises.

In the morning, I returned to reception and spoke with Jimena (whom I had been speaking with the previous day also, and that I spoke with on the phone when she called me after my initial complaint asking me if we still wanted that paid upgrade which she had managed to discount further. I politely declined again as I wasn't in the mood to be sold anything.), I showed her the photos of the disrepair to the swim up area, and she warmly said, "sir, we have managed to get you a complimentary upgrade due to you being loyal guests". I was showed the room which was a perfect family room with seperate bedroom overlooking the L-shaped family pool and smoothie bar. Very happy at this I accepted, and the holiday started to improve again!

The next day was my wife's birthday and I had discreetly arranged with concierge to book dinner with the usual flowers on the table and birthday song (a bit cheesy but something that the kids would enjoy). This was easily arranged by speaking to concierge, and so we booked into the steakhouse. Dinner time came and we had a nice meal, although we had to wait outside for a while as there was a queue (even though we had a reservation). I went to speak with one of the waiters that we had a reservation, he checked and confirmed but did not ask us to come inside, so we waited further. Anyway, we enjoyed our meal but the service was quite slow and mixed-up - they didn't clear our starters before serving our mains, didn't top up our wine etc. And to my surprise, we were served desserts without even my wife's birthday cake/song like a lot of the other guests seemed to be getting.

Slightly embarrassed and annoyed, we left and then the next day I complained about the situation and that my wife was left feeling disappointed on her birthday. Again Jimena was at the front desk, and she conferred with concierge and managed to rearrange it for us and make it extra special on that night (not the night of my wife's birthday so not quite the same), and as I was looking to book the spa for my wife, I managed to secure a discount on a treatment for her (although still very expensive)!

Later that day, I received another call from Jimena to apologise again and to say that she had managed to waive the charge for the massage as an apology. I was flabbergasted and surprised at such an amazing gesture. My wife absolutely loved her spa treatment and then in the evening, she had an amazing birthday celebration with handmade cake which was delicious. Jimena even personally visited the restaurant to wish my wife a happy birthday. How's that for amazing service. Just when we thought that things couldn't get any better, the dinner was complemented by a bottle of Moet, courtesy of Jimena also.

The rest of the week we were just blown away by how we were treated, almost like royalty. They kept calling our room to ask how we were enjoying things and asking if we needed any more special dinner reservations. We declined as we sometimes like to wing it at dinner. On a couple of occasions we noticed that as soon as we announced our room number we were met with even better service - not sure if Jimena had enrolled us onto some VIP service programme but that's sure how it felt!

So that's the story of the service, how's the rest of the resort?

Well,

Food:
9/10
Most of the food we had was delicious, and way better than what you would expect for a hotel in this price range (although it is one of the most expensive resorts in the area, it's cheaper than some of the more known ones like Hard Rock, Lopesan, Live Aqua, Nickelodeon, and even it's Excellence sister hotels). The only thing that slightly lets the food down is the breakfast buffet - we didnt feel that there were enough healthy options. For example there was no breakfast cereal or muesli, dried fruit, nuts, or anything like that, only sugary cereal like froot loops and frosties. My kids aren't used to eating that rubbish so we mostly just gave them bread. I did once ask for corn flakes but nobody knew what I was saying and eventually someone who did went away for 10 mins (when we were finishing) only to come back with a bowl of rice krispies. Not good enough, there are much cheaper resorts with a better breakfast selection. The quality was good however. Another thing of note is that a lot of the labels were missing especially at the pancake station. All of this is not a biggy though, and just some observations to someone who has been to a fair share of all-inclusive resorts.
Special mention to the pizza trailer near the beach which did amazing fresh italian-style pizzas and the coffee shop for their amazing ice cream, coffee and juices.

Drink:
5/10
This is I think where the resort falls short and needs to up its game. Although they do have on display various premium liquors and spirits, you have to really ask for them, and even when you tip, you sometimes have to remind them that you don't want the cheap stuff.
All of the cocktails are insanely sweet and not only that but they are inconsistent from bartender to bartender, meaning you could enjoy one drink, go back up for another one made by someone else and it would be disgusting or a completely different proportion of alcohol, mixer, etc.
They need to stop using these dirt cheap liquors (gin, vodka, rum) at these resorts, especially rum that is made in the Dominican! Last week we were at the Iberostar who used Barcelo Anejo as their cheapest rum and when you asked for premium, they remembered your preference! I had my cocktails made with Stoli vodka all week without having to remind them.
This was especially annoying in the lobby bar where the drinks are more alcohol based and not sweet and syrupy like the frozen ones. Who wants a martini made with dirt cheap vodka at a resort as nice as this? Yuck!

Pools:
9/10
The pools here were amazing. Very relaxing, just the right temperature and depth. Coming from the hot-tub-like pools at the iberostar, it was amazing to cool off from the hot sun in the ones at the finest. My only gripes were that the small plunge pool on our room's terrace was quite dirty with dead bugs and leaves, even though it was cleaned daily. Badly designed filtration system? This and the main pools tiles around the edges of the water lines were quite dirty and worn even though the resort was only 3 years old.

Beach:
9/10
The beach is beautiful here. Aquamarine coloured water, and the sand is golden (as opposed to white at the Bavaro beaches). The waves were a little bit bigger than in Bavaro, so they did knock you over if you went in too far, so you need to be a confident swimmer to go into the sea here.
The beach was spotless and any seaweed was cleaned up every day in the morning.

Restaurants:
10/10
Other than the food I have mentioned above, the restaurants had amazing staff, decor and ambience. The best part (for parents) was that they had a kids mini-club attached to EVERY restaurant, meaning that if your little one gets a bit bored at the dinner table, you can pop them in there for a little while to play with toys and balloons, supervised.

Kids club:
10/10
The facilities for children are amazing. From the balloon/trampoline things in the pools (very fun for adults also!) to the kids club water park, it was amazing. Our kids are almost 3 and loved it all. You can put your kids into the kids club from 10am-10pm every day if they are aged 3+. As ours were just under 3, we stayed and supervised them ourselves when we needed them to burn off a little energy. Special shout out to Eimy in the kids club who was very attentive to our twin daughters and played with them :)

Entertainment:
9/10
If you are into that kind of thing, there are shows on every night in the theatre at 9:30. We have seen all of these kind before (Michael Jackson show, circus show, dominican show, acrobats, etc) and our children are very young so we didn't bother seeing most of these.
There was nice music playing on the plaza just outside the theatre every night from 7:30 to 9ish, we enjoyed that.
The sports bar has a badass Iron Maiden pinball machine which is free to play! They also have a pool table. The sports bar was never busy but September is always the quiet season I guess.

My only one other major gripe that I haven't mentioned above. NO PHYSICAL MENUS! Everyone is glued to their phones at the bars and the restaurants trying to get the menus on the app. At least at the iberostar they had a physical options for those who couldn't be bothered using their phone at the dinner table. This really detracts from the experience of being somewhere upmarket and feeling leatherbound menus. I really hope they change this in the near future.

To summarise, we had an amazing stay and after an initial hiccup over the room and birthday celebration, it was all wiped out of our mind and we enjoyed every other minute of the stay. We wouldn't hesitate to come back here as they have so much to keep everyone entertained, fed and occupied.
The main things that I hope they improve are the drinks quality and consistency and the upkeep of the pool areas, especially in the swim up side of the resort.
The staff are this resort's absolute asset.

Special shout out to Jimena from the Front Desk - you made our stay extra special and we will never forget it! We will be happy to come back and say hi next time!

We experienced excellent service from the following other staff too so they deserve a mention:
- Johanna and Anny always with a smile at the coffee shop
- Lelena, a cleaner in market kitchen, smiling and keeping our kids entertained. Spoke well English too .
- Samuel who always made sure our minibar was overflowing
- Alexis at the pizza truck, nice guy and made good conversation while making the pizzas in the blistering hot van!
- Dahiana at the imagine kids club at the melting pot for keeping our girls entertained
- Claudio our regular waiter at the market kitchen, he always had a smile and seemed professional
- and last but not least, Amauris, Guillermo and Jerison at the swim up bar for always having a smile!

We stayed at Finest Playa Mujeres a few years ago and had thee best time. So when booking a last minute trip and saw Finest Punta Cana opening, we decided to give it a whirl. Disclaimer: We went in with an optimistic mindset but also prepared for potential speed bumps.

We upgraded to a honeymoon oceanfront suite with Excellence Club knowing the Excellence Club gives you upgraded areas to dine and drink and are open to adults only. See attached pictures for our room and views (5 stars for sure). The technology in the rooms is neat - do not disturb button, housekeeping button and motion sensors light so your not fumbling around in the middle of the night.

We had a seamless check in with the help from Aurora (our favorite employee of the resort by far) not to take away from any other member of the staff. They worked so hard and it was apparent that they genuinely cared about the resort and the guests experiences on it. Shoutout to Carlos from the pool bar in the Excellence Club for always keeping our glasses full, Johan for bringing us to our room and giving a great tutorial of the room and Bryan from the entertainment department!

The restaurants staggered their nights open due to minimal guests at the time but there was a nice variety. Minor note would be for Finest to have their menus printed in both English and Spanish. There were some times where the servers had a hard time understanding our orders in English.

The entertainment department did a great job with various activities throughout the day. We particularly enjoyed the fire show followed by the silent disco party!

The beach was relaxing and water very warm to frolic in. We’ve been to our fair share of tropical destinations but we never had such a beautiful landscape of palm trees. The closer you sit to the water, the more you’re exposed to the vendors which were usually pretty understanding if you weren’t interested.

In summary, the positives outweighs the negatives. Within a year this place should have their kinks ironed out, but we would not hesitate to go back.

I chose Finest because I had an amazing experience at Excellence Oyster Bay in 2019.

This was my first trip as a solo traveller (female in her 30s). It was meant to be a relaxing and quiet vacation and it exceeded that and more.

The resort is beautiful, clean and laid out wonderfully. I felt extremely safe during the day.

Try not to forget anything, the Resort store is very expensive. I had to purchase sunscreen (needed a stronger one) and they charged $48USD for one bottle.

I would recommend upgrading to the Excellence Club which is adults only if you are not travelling with kids. The main resort is very busy and full of families, however the adults only side was so quite and very relaxing. The Excellence pool is very nice and there are always a lot of beds and tanning chairs on both the beach and pool. There is also an adult only beach as well.

Room: booked the Excellence Club Junior Swim Up Suite. The room was beautiful and the swim up pool was very clean and where I spent most of my time. Great bathroom, shower had great pressure which I have had issues with at other resorts in the past. Bed was comfortable and you do have a selection of different pillow which I did order two new ones and they came really fast.
One compliant was the noise in the halls outside the door. You can hear everything and everyone walk by. At one point there were a group of workers walking by and talking very loudly and that woke me up.

Food:
My absolute favourite restaurants were Duke’s Lobster & Seafood, beautiful scenery and amazing food, I went there a few times. Dommo was delicious and very classy.
Best lunch spot was the food truck -La Playita Food Truck, the fish and chips were to die for!
The Market Kitchen buffet wasn’t that great, I went there for breakfast one day and was not happy with the selection.
Room service was delicious and never took more than 30 mins to receive. I ordered at all different times of the day and never had an issue with waiting too long or the food being cold. Great selection.

I went to the Tropical Juice Bar daily; they have a wonderful selection of juices and smoothies.

I did request a late check out because I was alone and they approved it with no trouble. It really made my last day enjoyable to know I could relax before my flight.

Their app has a chat and everything I requested always got a quick response, whether it was new towels or needing something printed for me. The concierge and at service staff were wonderful!

All Employees are fully vaccinated and wear masks.

Covid testing is still free for USA citizens and results are returned by mail in just a few hours well within the requirement for travel back to the USA.

If you do test positive the hotel offers a complimentary stay for up to 11 days for isolation in a separate part of the hotel. You can get more information on the Finest Punta Cana hotel web page menu Go to the top right of the page to find the menu and then hit "Covid 19 Information"

Hotel guests are not required to wear masks but this hotel is so large and wide open we never felt uncomfortable about being to close to someone.

The best part of being at this hotel during Covid is the Chief Concierge Marlon. He is a no nonsense compassionate bull dog when it comes to his customers safety and well being. Know that Marlon will always have your back.

The food at the resort has improved a great deal since November. The food was good when we were there in November but we never had anything we'd consider delicious. We had many delicious meals this time.

The beach at this resort is amazing. You won't have trouble finding a really cool Palapa to lay under to enjoy the beautiful scenery and ocean. The sand was soft and clean and extended out into the ocean. I never felt a stone or piece of coral under my feet when walking out into the ocean. The ocean is very easy to swim in and enjoy. We've stayed at all three Excellence resorts in Punta Cana and The Finest, in our opinion, has by far the best beach.

The people that work here are also amazing. They are hard working, considerate, always in a great mood and very eager to make sure your happy.

Alejandro was one of the people that coordinated fun things to do at the beach and pool. Great sense of humor and a lot of fun.

The spa is excellent, I spent a lot of time there. All the people were fun and had a great sense of humor. Thanks to Julia, Mary Jane, Maria and especially Milagros for getting out all my knots.

Thanks to the Bellmen Wilfredo and Edward for helping with our bags and anytime we had questions.

Thanks to all the waiters and waitresses that were always making sure we had anything we wanted. Jensi, Juan, Reynaldo and many more.

Thanks to the bartenders for making anything we could imagine. Especially Rafael

New York City, New York
This was honestly a fantastic trip. I'd like to start off by saying that this resort is BRAND NEW. This is one of the reasons we wanted to stay here, and it did not disappoint. Everything is so well thought out from the floor to ceiling marble, touch screen lighting in the rooms, toiletries, alcohol and snacks, not to mention the champagne and cold towels you receive upon arriving.

My partner and I went to celebrate her birthday, one of whom is vegan, the other is lactose intolerant so dairy was a no for us on this trip. They had so many options for a vegan diet at every restaurant. They had so many different types of cuisine; Italian, Mexican, steak, French, Japanese, Chinese, American, fine finding, buffet, food trucks, and fresh juices, smoothies, and coffees available all day. The staff is so remarkably friendly and attentive to every detail.

When we booked we were deciding between getting a room with a private plunge pool and paying extra to be a part of the "Excellence club". This is the adults only club which gets you access to the adults only pool, excellence club restaurants which you can have breakfast or dinner at ONLY if you are a part of the excellence club, and private section of the beach. We barely used our private pool so in retrospect we would've loved to have had the additional restaurant access in order to try new dishes, and have a non-buffet style breakfast, and be away from the kids at the pool some days. There were vegan dishes in those restaurants that I would have loved to try as well but none of this took away from our vacation as there was plenty to do.

I've read some reviews on here about people complaining that the staff will ask you for a review during your stay. This is true. These folks don't accept tips, and work day in and day out to provide a positive experience for us. It was absolutely a pleasure for me to receive this request from them. This is a new resort and receiving positive reviews from guests is a way that they can retain their position on the team. If you enjoy a staff member, you will be asked about it in your review. I kept a list of mine and made sure to shout them all out once I arrived home.

If you are planning an anniversary or birthday though be aware that you will have to follow up with the staff upon arrival. When we arrived they had no idea I had put us down for a birthday, and I had to follow up with them 3 times. Be adamant but also patient. They will get it done if you remind them.

My daughter was getting married and wanted to have a relax and fun wedding with famly and friends. The wedding was including family and friends from Canada, USA and the Republic of Panama. The waether and location was beautiful. The resort was getting members arriving on Tuesday thru Friday and the wedding was on a saturday. The staff was great they were welcoming, friendly and the rooms were great, clean, they have a mini bar and the restaurants were amazing and the food in the Market Kitchen was amazing for breakfast. The servers was great especially Antonia who remember the type of tea that I requested every morning. The staff was very accommodating for the large party of people every morning. The family and friends were so many that the staff got to know some of the family and friends that coning to breakfast was a family affair. The entertainment was great every night and the staff that was in charge of the entertainment at the pool was amazing and encourage everyone to participate in the activity. The bike tour was amazing with Enrique Amicion was a great guide and ensured that everyone was safe during the ride.Chanel was another staff mbr that provided great information during activities during the day and good entertainment during the evening shows. The staff on the beach like Ronicet (Dunas Beach house) and Mary (Oasis bar) made sure that we always had a drink or food when they came around to see if we needed anything. The housekeeping staff always made sure that we had what was needed and our rooms was cleaned and fresh towels daily. We spent a lot of time on the beach before the wedding on Saturday. The area outside of The Dunas Beach House was were the wedding and reception took place on the deck and framed gazebo. The weather was great and the beach in the background was amazing and beautiful that some of the guest and family members is thinking of make vacation plans to return with their family. The servers at the wedding were Naomi (Legends), Alejandro Santana (Dunas beach house) and RiquelmyRosario (Dunas Beach house and the Romantic dinners). Another person met on the Beach was Yajaira Semphil she was amazing with the free sample of the massage offered at the Spa. Several guests wanted to be able to get a massage from her hands since she had hands that were very smooth and tender during the massages she was providing to get the guests to sign up for massages and some declined if they could not recieve a massage from her. Yajaira did explained that she was the one promoting the massages at the spa, but could not provide massages in the spa. The bachelor party was done at the Shoji restaurant and Arturo was great with the hibachi and the food was great. The staff at the restaurant along with Benjamin and others that name escape me at this time did a great job setting up the room for the all girls party. Overall everyone had a great time and even those that took their children had a wonderful time. Thanks to all for an amazing time. Hope to see all soon

The resort itself is beautiful. The architecture, design and decor are amazing. The staff is also top tier. Oscar was amazing, Alexa at the sunset pool bar had great service and the spa staff was great. When we arrived we were greeted with champagne welcome drinks. The check in process was pretty slow. We checked in online so the process would be quick however it still took about snd hour to get from the front to our rooms. We were in the finest/excellence club so there is a different lounge for checking in there and once they realized that we had to walk to that Lou he to complete the process. When we got to our room, there was fruit, chocolates, champagne and a nice honeymoon sign on the door and that was a nice touch. Some things that we loved about this resort was that the premium meals were included and a few resorts that we’ve been at there has been an up charge for certain Items. The staff did try their best to give amazing service but all of the items weren’t available yet, making it hard for the staff to give quality service. We also found that the staff wasn’t very familiar with the menus and we were brought the wrong items on multiple occasions, some of which were items that are not in my diet. They do ask what food allergies/ dietary restrictions you have before sitting at each restaurant, however if they still bring you wrong items that are in that category it’s not very helpful. One improvement would be the ability to make reservations on the app and order room service on the app. All of the menus are on the app and the restaurants are on the smaller side so I can see the restaurant wait times being an issue in the future if that feature is not available once the resort it at full capacity. The food would be given 3 stars at best. The best service and food combination we received was at the Lizo Mexican restaurant, Dukes was good but service was slow and food was cold and Shoji was okay. There needs to be dress code updates on the lunch restaurant located on the beach/ pool. If people are drinking on the beach and at the pool, guests shouldn’t be expected to have on proper clothing. There should be somewhere that casual lunch will be available. We were supposed to receive nightly turn down service and only experienced that 1 of 4 nights. The worst issue was that the room started to smell of waste/sewage on the 3rd day. It is brand new and has never been used to that capacity however, the only the offer to rectify the issue was to spray the room with air freshener and maintenance never came to the room. The kid play areas and pools are beautiful and are areas that children and adults can enjoy alike. Once improvements can be made, I think this resort will be perfect.

I see people comparing a resort only opened two months to more established Excellence properties that have been open for years and I think it's ridiculous to expect everything to be on par. First of all you booked a brand new resort during it's soft opening with rates that reflects this. If you wanted guaranteed perfection then don't book a new resort, even though I have seen reviews that food and service are not up to standard at the other resorts either.

Now to my experience, I had a great time. I stayed 6 nights, in a rooftop terrace suite in Excellence club.

The rooms and entire resort is gorgeous, everything is brand new. The RTT had a great view of the pool and ocean, large living space, walk in closet, bathroom area with privacy/door and the plunge pool is perfect.

I had no issues with wait time at the restaurants, I had some great meals at Dommo, Dukes and Gusto, the club restaurants were especially good. Room service was poor as in they almost always got the order incorrect, sending too much food when I said for one or sending food with items missing ( no pita bread for the hummus for eg.) I didn't have a bad meal but items missing at poolside service was another issue, food truck tacos were good as well. The Dominican buffet for lunch has the most "Caribbean" type food it was actually enjoyable though pretty busy.

I don't understand the person below who said the beach was tiny, you can literally walk for miles in either direction along the beach. There was se seaweed a few days , the staff cleaned it up all during the day. There were also a few clear days. The beach was very windy, waves were rolling but people still got in the water .

The pools here are great, with a main pool and two club pools all with swimup bars. Beach and pool service in club, were good, not overly attentive as at Excellence Playa Mujeres but they did come around several times to bring drinks and you could order food.

Overall service was good, I am really not the type of traveler who is comfortable with all the overlay attentive service, take care of me then leave me alone. But I did see the staff getting towels, making up loungers/beds for those who couldn't do this themselves.

Overall you will have a great time unless you are expecting perfection, if so book and go to a resort that has been opened for years.

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Finest Punta Cana and here is our overall review:
Let’s get the BAD out of the way first. We booked a specific room type months in advance and did NOT get what we reserved. Unfortunately, this seems to be a fairly common occurrence between the Excellence Punta Cana properties. We booked an Excellence Club Beachfront Honeymoon suite with a private pool and were given an Excellence Club Terrace suite with a plunge pool, that sadly directly faced Dukes and Las Dunas. The view from this room was not what we had hoped for.
Now for the good. The room itself was vey spacious and well maintained. We did not have any issues with mold or a musty smell. Air conditioning worked very well and kept the room comfortable. Maid service was efficient and the person that restocked the mini bar went above and beyond to make sure our requests were filled.
The resort grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained and all the outdoor staff (bars, beach, pool and groundskeepers) were very polite and friendly. And a special shoutout to Argenis (Excellence Club Beach Concierge) who went out of his way by saving oceanfront palapas for us and making our stay memorable. On our last day, he shared a hug with us and really made our day !
As for the restaurants, due to circumstances beyond our control, we only got to try three: Dukes, Brass and Insieme. Dinner at all three were excellent. The night we ate at Brass was my Birthday and they had a cake for us and the whole staff sang Happy Birthday in both English and Spanish. Market Kitchen (buffet) had so many choices for both breakfast and lunch that you would never walk away hungry. Room service was inconsistent on quality, but arrived in a timely manner. Only tried the daytime food truck, and for typical “diner” type food, was quite good.
On a scale of 1 to 10, we would give Finest an 8 based on the fact that we did not get the accommodations we booked. And if we’re being honest, unless they can GUARANTEE us that we will get the exact room we book, we’re not sure we would return to an Excellence resort in Punta Cana.

We stayed at the Finest PC for 9 days. Hacing been to the Finest Playa Mujeres many times and always being blown away, we Were very curions to try this one.

The resort is Beautiful. The main pool is very spacious, more then enough chairs for everyone. We did not have to show up early to réserve a chair which makes mornings stress free. The climbing mountain in the pool is a lot of fun for the kids. There are also other pools that are more peaceful. Our room was in the Finest Club so having Access to the Finest Club pool pas a very nice perk. Located right next to the Beach and the main pool, you han Access to everything while being a Little secluded from the action of the main pool. Leondy, the butler at the the Finest pool was the best. He han our chairs ready every morning and always made sure we han everything we needed during the Day. He surprised us with a nice surprise on our Last Day.
The spin and pole classes in the adult pool lots of fun. It would have been nice if the SUP yoga class pas offered more then once during the week.

The Beach pas beautiful and not too crowded, The ocean was clear of seeweed and the Waves Were lots of fun. Again, never and issues to cet a chair. My kids had fun doing the Banana boat and tubing (not included but very reasonable)

The tennis and padle court Were never busy when we wanted to play. The bike tour was disappointing as it takes you on the main road.

The spa is Beautiful and the water circuit was so enjoyable.

The staff pas very friendly and wanted to make your stay as good as it could be. Language was sometimes an issue in communication.

Where it gets a Little tricky is the food and restaurant situation..... The Buffet was good for breakfast and lunch but I found it pas not as plentiful as the one in Mexico. Duke's was also a gréât option for lunch. The restaurant situation pas terrible at dinner time. It happened a few nights that not many Family restaurants were open which made the wait time very long around 7:00 pm. other times, it took avec an hour to cet our food. It pas very unfortunate that the main buffet was not open for super as it would have been a great alternative. The Beach buffet pas open at night but it was very médiocre. As for room service, it happened a few times that we did not cet exactly what we ordered but again, I Think it might have been a Language issue...

All in all we loved our stay but the restaurant situation is definetly something that needs to be improved.

What is the alcohol selection ?? Do they have grey goose and makers mark at the bars ?
Answer from Eddie Peña

Our room category was "EXCELLENCE CLUB IMPERIAL SUITE WITH PLUNGE POOL." We had full bottles of top shelf liquor, including Grey Goose, in our own bar in the room. The Excellence club bars and restauraunts also had top shelf liquor. Not sure about Makers Mark as I'm not much of a whiskey drinker, but I'm sure the whiskey is also top shelf at the Excellence club places and rooms. In the room we had a full bottle of Jack Daniels.

The Maxi Club is designed for kids to hang together; they don't make the parents leave, though your kids might! It's a great chance to have an adults-only meal. The staff at the Kids Club is great.
