Pompano Beach Club garners praise for its spotless environment, from the pristine grounds to the clear waters and tidy rooms. Many guests commend the staff's warm and attentive service, though a few inconsistencies in dining service are noted. The rooms, celebrated for their stunning ocean views, have received some criticism for outdated decor and occasional hot water issues. The overall atmosphere is lauded as a comfortable and elegant retreat, suitable for families. While opinions on value are divided, the ample amenities, including golf and water sports, are a definite highlight for visitors.

My family decided to give it a go this holiday. We only stayed for a night and wished we had extended for at least two nights. The fact that we didn’t know the place very well and didn’t know what to expect made us doubtful. After having experienced it, we now know that we will be back and do at least a couple of nights, the food (dinner and breakfast) were included and we’re delicious, not to mention the portions as well as the great service. The rooms were really sanitized (probably too much smell of Clorox when we got there it wasn’t ready, so I’m assuming it needed extra time to be aired) even when they are not very modern for the price we paid it was just right. The kids enjoyed being in the heated pool despite the time of the year, we were very lucky with the weather as well! We will be back for sure!

We had never been to Bermuda but booked a 4 day trip at the Pompano. We had arranged transportation through the resort and transfer from the airport was fairly easy uand about a 45 minute taxi for $60. We were greeted at the resort by Tom and Larry Lamb the owners who were great. They provided us with great suggestions on day trips and arranged for transportation for our excursions.

We stayed in room 61 which had a king or queen be and then a living room with a pull out and we requested a roll out cot. This was a great set up for our family of 4. The room was basic, but we were really only in it for sleeping. The bathroom was large with a great shower and a large tub. the view from the patio was breathtaking, and was a nice place to relax while the kids settled down.

We had originally just booked the breakfast package, but were quickly convinced to add the dinner service, which was $30 for a 5 course dinner. This was the best bargain on the island. We had steaks, local seafood, pasta dishes and wonderful deserts. The waitstaff was unbelievable. Lynn at breakfast greeted us every morning with a smile and some jokes, he was wonderful with the kids and always had a suggestion for activities. Rodel was also great. He was quiet but friendly and worked form breakfast through dinner.

By day 2, we requested to stay an extra day as the resort and the island were so great. We did day trips to Horshoe bay beach, and downtown Hamilton. The resort shuttled us to the bus stop or arranged for a taxi. They provided us a cooler to bring to the beach.

The negatives were that there was alot of seaweed at the hotel beach a few days. They worked tirelessly to clear the beach, but the good thing is there are so many nearby beaches that we easily found a beautiful beach close by with no seaweed. We also spent an afternoon at the pool, drinking frozen rum drinks while the kids swam. The pool is on the smaller size, but was not crowded due to the size of the resort. The other negative is the Covid testing process. I think they may still be tweeking the process, but it does require going back downtown to take a test. This is a 30 minute ride, so you have to factor this into your trip. Larry and Tom were also great helping us manage this aspect of the trip.

I'm sure there are newer, flashier resorts or hotels, but for our money the hospitality, food plan, on-site beach and family vibe was worth it. We will be back.

The PBC is a wonderful property and sits majestically on the rocky limestone cliffs of Bermuda. The pink bungalows are spacious and reasonably appointed however in need of a refresh. One can forgive a little shop wornness given the world pandemic that shut this place down for a year and robbed locals of their living so I am careful not to be harsh . We love that is has that 50’s era vibe that makes you feel like a 007 dinner jacket and martini kinda of place but without the stuffiness. The Ocean dining room is the most beautiful room and the property has a wonderful pool area and terrace with 2 hefty 6 person jacuzzis for your tired muscles after a day on the Port Royal links which are immediately next door. The views from your deluxe room balcony are breathtaking; the Atlantic today is a beautiful turquoise leading off the drop to a purple blue Gulf Stream. The quaint little bar opens at 5:30 and encourages a convivial vibe for the guests. We were on the American plan and the breakfast was delicious but nothing fancy, eggs and bacon; also Belgian Waffles and eggs benedict. Our dinners were very good and the 5 courses included were “fancy items “ like escargot and main staples of steak and seafood, we had scallops, we tried the turbot grilled and I had a NY Strip that was a little chewy. The wait staff of Michael, Lyn, and the managers Kevin, Larry, and Shannon were all eager to please . The property has a small but pretty pink sand beach and the water is crystal clear for wading and swimming. We were well fed and well taken care of; we played 2 courses, both top flight in Port Royal and Mid Ocean. Shuttles will take you free to Port Royal and friendly local cabbie will charge you 50$ for the longer ride to the airport. You want to be on the south facing properties, there are better beach options. Some properties were closed still aka the Hamilton Princess. I would close with this; the PBC is a timeless beauty in a first class location, in need of an update to the rooms if it is to maintain a 4 diamond rating. Have fun in Bermuda, the people are super welcoming and the yards are all tidy, it is a proper island with a proud people who aim to welcome, we would definitely come back!

The perfect baby moon destination! I wish I could give this place more than five stars. We booked our stay at the Pompano specifically because it is a family owned and operated business. The staff here is amazing! We had a few questions after booking and the owner got back to us right away! They also met us at the reception desk and introduced themselves. We got a facility tour while our luggage was taken up to our room. The staff at the hotel is phenomenal! We ate almost all of our meals at the choice of two different restaurants there which were seriously so good! The food and service were five star. The meal plan is an awesome deal and all gratuity is included so no need to bring cash with you. The made to order breakfasts were delicious and there are several gluten free options on all of the menus. We ate lunch there some days, and went next door to the golf course a couple of times as well as Hamilton. The hotel will take you to the grocery store, golf course, and bus stop right in front of the hotel, there is also a ferry terminal across the street. The golf course next door is beautiful the most holes with sea views that we have been to.The food at the course is good and their twilight golf rate is $50 and club rentals are $60. We did a massage at the spa there and it was amazing. We had a sea view while getting a massage, I got a prenatal and my husband a Swedish. There are a few different options for hot tubs and the pool is nice all with sea view. The hotel has a beautiful sunset view you can catch every night from the restaurant or bar. There is a private beach for hotel guests only, and there were plenty of chairs, umbrellas, and noodles for guest use. The only draw back I can think of for some people is this hotel is built on the side of the hill. To get to the beach there is a flight of stairs and to the rooms its a little bit of a walk up. If you have mobility issues at all just email them and they have great rooms right by the main building with the restaurants and pool so little walking will be involved. If you are coming to Bermuda please stay here you will definitely feel like part of a family.

We liked that it was family owned, staff was very friendly. Rooms and property was outdated and in need of a face lift. Found 3 roaches in our room, saw a few outside while walking around near pool/outdoor beach bar and one ran under our feet while sitting having drinks in the Lounge. Unfortunately due to this bug issue we will not be returning. The food was good some nights and some other nights it took way way too long to arrive and then was cold when we finally got it. Seemed very expensive with the additional fees/costs compared to some other more 4/5 star experiences we’ve had at other resorts.

Response from TLIII, Owner at Pompano Beach Club
Responded Mar 4, 2020
We're so sorry that you had a couple of bugs find their way into your room during your July 2019 stay with us. Palmetto bugs are unfortunately indigenous to tropical climates and our island in general. We always do our very best to remove them from a room whenever we are notified, so I hope you mentioned this to us while you were there (??). We fortunately do not have many issues with bugs, however, we do routine preventative spraying around our buildings to try and keep them free of ants and other bugs. Regarding your comment that our resort seemed very expensive due to "the additional fees/costs" you were charged compared to other upscale resorts, the only additional fees/costs we charge are our nightly 10% resort service charge (which covers gratuities for our bellmen, housekeeping staff and breakfast & dinner waitstaff - since meals are included in our room rates) and the Bermuda government's daily 11 3/4% occupancy tax (which all of the island's hotels are required to charge). All our bar drinks, wines and lunches have an automatic 17% service charge added to them (in lieu of gratuities) - which is pretty common throughout Bermuda. Some of our competitors charge a separate "resort fee" for use of their fitness centers and other facilities, however, we do not. Thanks for giving us an opportunity to address your concerns. We hope you'll give us another chance to regain your confidence by choosing to stay with us again some time in the future. Sincerely, Tom Lamb, Managing Director Pompano Beach Club

We are locals here in Bermuda, and have LOVED going to pompano growing up next to them (almost 30 years). They were a HUGE part of our life, spending multiple nights, always there for lunch, sometimes dinner. A place we loved to bring friends to & show our paradise too.. My feelings towards this place has drastically changed after experiencing discrimination because we have an “active” kid, as the manager said. I was appalled at the fact we were not allowed to use the pool & service we pay for, along with lunch for 5, beacuse he had to be carful with they types of kids he has at the pool. I have worked in hospitality for over 7 years.. a manager as guest experiences, and pompano did just the opposite of that. For the out dated rooms, there service should be striving to make their guests happy. We did not get that service, nor did we feel welcome.

When I mentioned why he does not have the information to call ahead of time on his website, his response was “I’m not really trying to put it out there like that.” Way to make locals feel welcome, as if they don’t help carry the hotel through winter months.

With all this said, people with kids, be carful when booking this hotel.. locals with kids, who would like to pay for an enjoyable day, I would recommend grotto bay or any other hotel that offers the pool beach amenity. It will avoid disappointment, I promise.

As much as pompano is a family tradition for us, after our experience we will be rethinking where to spend our precious family time.

I stayed here with my father for four nights and we thought it was excellent. It has a lot of amenities available but also does not feel like a cookie-cutter resort. As a hotel that has been operating since the 1950s it has some character and history that makes it stand out. The beach on the sandbar was clean and absolutely beautiful, as was the view of the ocean that is accessible in so many places indoors and out. The shuttle takes you to the main road any time you ask which makes the public transport easy to use. The shuttle can also take you to the nearby Rockaway Ferry that is a fast and easy way to get to Hamilton (more pleasant than the bus). The front desk answered all our questions and were very friendly. Our room was upgraded on arrival due to some reservation changes, but the view from our original room would also have been fantastic. We highly recommend the breakfast/dinner food plan, the food options were interesting and delicious and we got a lot of value for our money. It's a lot easier than trying to get somewhere to eat via public transport, and we tried some new things we might not have if we were in a regular restaurant. We loved out stay and would come back again.

The previous positive reviews give a good picture of the Pompano. If you know what to expect and can look past the concrete steps and rugged hillsides you'll see a wonderful 60s building (plus modern additions and renovations) with solid walls that don't carry sound, hot powerful showers (that don't flood the bathroom) and high quality and comfortable furniture.

More importantly we were warmly welcomed every minute of every day and nothing was too much trouble. Our young kids were always served with a smile and they loved the beautiful beach and pool (with large kids' pool).

Free pick up and drop off to the dive shop (Blue Water Divers is 5 minutes away) and the bus stop is really useful. Use the local bus to get to Hamilton or the Dockyard, you can buy the super cheap tickets from reception and it's cool and efficient.

If I could improve one thing it would be curtains that join up better (they wouldn't allow any light if they overlapped) but with big comfortable beds and a quiet resort we slept well anyway.

Food is very good with plenty of variety and options for the kids. The staff are really helpful in every restaurant and make mealtimes as easy as possible for the family.

A really friendly family run hotel in a beautiful location.

This was my husband’s and my 5th visit to the Pompano, our daughters’ 4th and our future son-in-law’s 1st. We reserved the 3 bedroom villa Bonita which is perfect for 3 couples. We originally planned to visit in June but due to Covid, the trip was postponed to August and then again to September when the hotel was able to open fully to guests. The six of us waited all spring/summer for this trip and we were not disappointed.
Since we were there the first week of reopening, the hotel was very quiet and we had it and the pool and beach all to ourselves the first couple days. The only thing we missed was the convenience of the beach bar hut for getting drinks but the kids were more than willing to run up to the pool bar for them. The food was as delicious as always with plenty of variety at both breakfast and dinner. Lunch on the terrace was the highlight of the day because the food was great and drinks flowing. The young people had a blast fishing from the shore and caught a bunch of fish but none large enough to eat! Snorkeling is good right off the beach as well.
One unfortunate thing. On the third day I fell after missing a small step by the hot tubs. This was due to my own clumsiness and not the hotel’s fault. A staff member came over to help me and cleaned my abrasion and dressed it. I found out I broke my elbow after returning home but just dealt with what I thought was a bad bone bruise during the rest of the stay. The staff and the Lambs were extremely kind and attentive. Bonita villa is located up a rather steep hill and there was always a golf cart with a staff member ready to take me to and from the villa which I greatly appreciated.
Once the young men played Port Royal golf course, they wanted to every day. We didn’t get the opportunity to try out the new pickle ball court but there’s always next time.
And that’s the best news about this trip. While our little family has been coming to Pompano for 28 years, it’s safe to say that future generations will also be regular visitors as both daughters report their guys love it as much as they do!

If I could give this resort a higher score, I would do so. We stayed for eight nights in a Deluxe room and it was a fantastic week! The property itself is aging, but with character and finesse. The room and balcony are both quite large. The only thing I missed was having a desk and chair, but there are plenty to places to write on the premises, both indoor and out. The staff was exceptional, as was the food. The pool area and the pool bar are exceptional. Our plan included breakfast and dinner, so we had lunch a couple times at the pool bar. Larry is the owner and General Manager and is totally hands-on. He was moving sand, mowing grass, cleaning the pool and everything else that needed attention. The resort is about 1km from the road. The staff will drive guests to and from the road, to the bus stop or to the grocery store anytime they want to go. I could go on and on, but I will just say that I recommend the Pompano Bay Beach Club without hesitation. you WILL enjoy your Bermuda vacation if you stay there! Bon Voyage!
