We were greeted by Rosario our driver arranged for pick up at the airport, he was polite and kind. We were then welcomed with a drink and info. Our room was perfect with a beautiful view of the sea. We booked half board and the breakfast was plentiful and fresh. The server's were always pleasing, especially Nicholas. The dinners were delicious and service again amazing. We enjoyed the pool and afternoon cocktails made with perfectly by Santos. This hotel is spotless and the employees work very hard to keep it that way. The receptionists Valentina 's are lovely and gave very good recommendations on everything we asked. We took advantage of the shuttle to the beach and Tropes with driver Memo ( Dominic), he was also full of info and very nice. We would recommend the place to everyone. We were due to travel to this hotel during the covid 19 pandemic. We had booked independently with them as they beat all the agents we contacted. Obviously we couldn't travel but the hotel were amazing offering us a choice to reschedule or refund our deposit. I will definitely be going to stay with them when I am able and would urge anyone to give them a call and see how competitive they are. Capo vaticano and tropea are both stunningly beautiful and this place is easy to get to both from.

We really enjoyed our stay. The service was always friendly and the hotel was clean.
We went half board, which seemed to be very popular among the Italian guests. It turned out to be a good choice as there are only a few restaurants within walking distance and the food was very good considering what we paid for it. The dinner was chosen from a set menu, where you could choose between two starters (usually pastas), two mains (one fish and one meat) and four different side dishes, the dessert was the same for everyone. The hotel was also offering vegetarian options to half board guests, but the vegetarian options were not mentioned on the daily menu.
Breakfast was very decent being a middle class hotel in Italy, as they were offering a good variety of food also for us who prefer not to only eat cakes for breakfast.
We also tried the sushi for lunch and it was very fresh and delicious.
There is a decent sized super market about 700 m from the hotel, but you could buy drinks and snacks in a smaller shop just on the other side of the road.
The hotel offered a shuttle mini bus to the beach and to the train station at no extra cost and the ride to Tropea was 20 euros per person (July 2022).
All in all a nice stay and I would recommend the hotel to friends and family who prefer a stay in the country side.

My 3rd stay at this hotel since 2017 and it just gets better.
Customer service was excellent throughout, breakfast quality had improved, the restaurant area is far more modern and the bar area in the garden fits very well.
The pool area is great for both adults and kids.
Can highly recommend paying the extra for superior rooms. Much more spacious than a standard room, excellent view of the sea.
This hotel in the view of a time served travel agent meets the requirement of a 4 star hotel despite being a 3 star
The hotel is cleaned to a high standard. I saw 3 cleaners working on each room.
The excursions the hotel can plan are quite varied and interesting including culinary tours, a trip to the volcanic island of stromboli and also use to an area of a beach that I would describe as being one of the best on mainland Italy.
The hotel can also arrange transfers to and from Lamezia and Reggio Calabria airport, as well as the local train station if you opt for not taking a car.
Enjoy your stay at La Bussola hotel, you will not be disappointed!

Where do I begin…..from the moment we walked in the door it was like coming home again. Every single person makes you feel welcomed. The amazing staff goes beyond to make sure every aspect of your stay is perfect. You can tell their kindness is sincere and that they all are proud of what they do. They went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time. Their kindness was overwhelming. Pepino the owner is a charismatic gentlemen with a twinkle in his eye who along with his 4 handsome sons and his lovely wife treat everyone like family!!
The Restaurant is beautiful and the Sushi outstanding. They also serve mouth watering Pasta dishes, beef and seafood. You never walk away disappointed but instead looking forward to your next meal.
Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent. The whole property is beautiful and well maintained. The views from our room and the sunsets were beautiful, especially seeing the Volcano on Isola Stomboli erupting!
We spent many afternoons relaxing at the beautiful pool, and there is also a shuttle to the beach. Capo Vaticano has much to offer. There are many activities to enjoy in the area so you will never be bored, or you can just relax! You will not be disappointed staying at La Bussola and like us will want to return many times.
Whatever your expectations are, La Bussola will exceed them. We highly recommend La Bussola.💗💗

First of all, I want to thank you for the wonderful vacation you gave us. This 3-star hotel offers at least four-star services. The rooms are spacious, nicely furnished and very clean. It is cleaned daily and there is exemplary cleanliness throughout the hotel. The garden and pool are magnificent. The hotel’s restaurant offers sensational cuisine and the service is impeccable. All staff involved offer services similar to a 5-star hotel. We thank Maria and Ocsana, who helped us with the problems encountered with the Alitalia company. Thanks also to the hotel staff who, together with my husband, organized a birthday party for me, which I celebrated at this hotel. Everything was wonderful. Calabria is a very beautiful region, worth visiting and I recommend to all tourists to choose the hotel La Bussola in Capo Vaticano. I spent 11 days at this hotel and left for Rome for a 4 night stay. We love Rome, we have visited this wonderful city before, but I can tell you that after our stay in Calabria at the Hotel La Bussola, I had the feeling that I left Heaven and arrived in Hell. These are our real and sincere impressions. My husband and I are passionate about travel and have visited many countries and capitals in Europe, Asia, Central America and the United Arab Emirates. We love Italy and we have traveled to various regions, but the holiday in Calabria was more special. I can tell you that the holiday in Calabria, at this hotel, was one of the most beautiful holidays I have ever had. The hotel is very well run by the Giuliano family, who are involved in absolutely all activities and work together with the employees. Many thanks to Maria, Ocsana Leone, Toni, Rino and Francesco for the wonderful vacation we had at Hotel La Bussola. By the way, Francesco makes some sensational cocktails. I haven't downloaded the photos and I can't attach them, but I'll be back to show you these wonderful places. Recommend this hotel to all tourists who love beauty, good taste and quality services.

This review is late in coming, since it was 2008 that I visited La Bussola, discovering it quite accidentally, and loving so much about it. AS others have said, the family is charming and welcoming and the dinner we had at the restaurant remains my highest restaurant experience in Italy, probably because the spices and presentation reminded me of my Italian grandmother's recipes. After dinner, the family offered us some of their homemade Lemoncello and then kindly shared their recipe, which I have made several times, never matching their quality. Our room was clean and basic, but comfortable, with a nice window. However, it looked out over the roadway which was very noisy and could be heard in the room and in most outdoor spaces. I wonder if that has changed for the better or the worse. It is the only thing that gives me hesitation of arranging another Italy visit for my family to La Bussola, from which we can further explore our Calabrian roots.

The moment you walk into the reception area you have to check you are in the correct place… it’s a hidden gem the up to date decor and more importantly the friendly staff make you feel totally relaxed. The beaches are 2.5-3k’s away and Tropea is a quick 20 min drive down the road.. the staff are quick with smile and are always ready to have chat.. they are part of one big family which is refreshing. The only negative is that if you are trying to lose some kg’s then don’t come here as you can’t stop eating the food, it’s that good.

My stay at Hotel La Bussola was a beautiful experience from the very beginning. Their thoughtfulness shone through as they arranged a shuttle to greet me at the train station, and the driver's kindness set the tone for my visit. The welcome drink was a delightful touch that instantly made me feel at home. Maria, Valentina, and Aurora were incredible hosts; they imparting their knowledge of the local gems and cuisine, making my stay truly memorable.
A dinner at the hotel's restaurant is a must. I would definitely be guided by Giuseppe's recommendations. The flavours were nothing short of spectacular. The buffet breakfast was a delightful start to each day, filled with many choices.
