The Westin Reserva Conchal is celebrated for its pristine cleanliness and an array of amenities that include a stunning beach, a vast pool, and a host of activities. Guests experience exceptional service and encounter local wildlife, adding to the hotel's charm. While the atmosphere is lively with entertainment, some suggest it could use an infusion of energy in certain spots. The location is a hit for its scenic beaches and natural surroundings, ideal for family events. Room opinions vary; they are typically spacious and well-kept, although a few guests have noted issues with A/C and lighting. Opinions on value are mixed, with some questioning the food pricing relative to quality.

We were able to truly relax at the Westin because the environment was so lush and full of nature. You will see monkeys, birds and pesty coatis everyday. The resort was built many years ago, but it was built very well. The layout from the check in right down to the beach flows beautifully. Upgrade to the Club Section it is well worth it. You will receive better service, alcohol and comfy chairs and towels.

Pools: The adult pool was huge and just gorgeous, full of trees and flowers. The service was impeccable, but the pool lunch menu needs better choices. We enjoyed this pool immensely because there were no children.
The main pool was massive and gorgeous, and there was an area especially for Club Members. The servers were also good here, providing food and drink service.

Room: The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. We enjoyed room service every morning outside on our deck.

Restaurants: Our favorite was Faisinella. It was an international restaurant that served good quality food. The managers Roger, Antonio and Howard are superb managers looking after everyone with great attention. The washroom at Faisinella definately needs a renovation.
La Sabana was a Brazilian style restaurant in the evening, the host is so polite and professional. The food was very good at lunch also. Manglar and Cauri were also very good. The Italian/Trattoria was one of our favorites for lunch, it stayed open late and had a lovely environment. We enjoyed an amazing dinner at Bamboo, the manager created a special dish for us. The Sushi was amazing! Every restaurant had great service and food!

The beach was our favorite! It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. On the north end the beach was full of shells and had good snorkelling. Walking to the south of the beach is the "W" resort and the beach is wider, flatter and has soft white sand. The ocean is very clean and clear and is 100% safe for swimming. Though, You have to watch very small children in the small waves. The beach boy with the blue t-shirt will set you up chairs and an umbrella everyday, hes such a hard worker!
Our only recommendation to the Westin resort is to purchase reusable plastic cups. The throw away cups being used now are ending up in our ocean! This is very environmentally irresponsible for a million dollar resort. We watched lazy tourists leave their plastic cups and bottles on the beach daily.

We came with a large group of over 500 people and stayed for 6 days. We loved the resort. Everyday we would get out to the beach around 8am and would have it practically to ourselves. The beach is gorgeous. The water is so clear and the waves are not too strong. There are people on the beach offering 1 hour massages for $20. We had them every day. We went to Laura and Jenny’s tent twice and ended our trip with Nina and her family. Both massage tents were wonderful and well worth the money and then some. We booked an atv trip through Eric Garcia. He wears a hat with his name on it and has a sign that says “check reviews”. He is legit. We took atvs up into the mountains on dirt roads. It was a good way to see the country without having to drive super far like a lot of the other excursions offered by Swiss travel. Francisco on the beach had little clay bird whistles we bought for our kids. He gave us a good deal on a bunch of them. He gave us a good deal. The food was good and the service was outstanding.

My husband and I returned from a quick four-day trip to Costa Rica last month and wanted to share what a beautiful resort and prime location the Westin has for future visitors. It is conveniently located one-hour from Liberia Airport and we had no problem getting to the resort with transportation booked before arriving. Our room was on the second floor of a Spanish style casita and surrounded by lush plantings and flowers. The resort is expansive with several restaurants and a large pool area, but we always enjoyed walking along the scenic pathways instead of taking the resort trolleys that run continuously. We tried almost every restaurant and our favorites were ordering pizza for lunch at the Italian place and outdoor dining at sunset at the seafood restaurant. The spa was gorgeous and I enjoyed my massage and time at the private spa pool afterwards. Other than leisurely time at the pool, you will enjoy the fabulous beach and gentle warm water with few waves that rivals those I have seen in Hawaii. If you prefer to surf, we had a wonderful time one afternoon at nearby Tamarindo Beach that is known for great waves and cute beachside bars and restaurants. Our favorite excursions were an afternoon horse riding along the beach and an eco boat tour through a national park to see monkeys and crocodiles. Theses two outings really completed our trip and we are so appreciative to Erik on the beach that coordinated these adventures for us. Mostly, we loved meeting the wonderful people of Costa Rica who were always lovely and friendly whether at the resort or beyond. Pura Vida!

There are a lot of pro's (this review will not discuss golf since no one in our party played).
1. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, everyone was great, no exception.
2. Getting around the property was fairly easy, there are golf carts to bring you around as needed.
3. The drinks at the pool bar were quite good!
4. The refreshed rooms were also very nicely updated.
5. The spa was a bit pricey, but the massage was lovely and you have access to a private indoor hot tub, spa and sauna.
6. Cleaning the rooms daily is great!
7. I really love the wildlife all around! The iguanas are amazing! And the Raccoon beasties are adorable.

Con's:
1. The food is okay. It's just okay. This is from an American's perspective, mind you. There is no one Japanese working in Bambu, there is no one Italian working at Spirulli and while there is a variety of food at the Mitra Buffet, it was pretty average. At the breakfast buffet, you need to ask for bacon, they keep it in the kitchen.
2. It's great that there are shuttles to take you places, but it also means there's a lot of vehicles on the walking paths.
3. The included "mini-bar", is really just a pepsi, a water, a tecate and a fruit drink. Maybe one other drink.
4. Room service is extremely limited, though it is 24/7. If you order wine or alcohol, be warned it will come in small glasses, not even airport bottles.
5. This is NOT a place for "foodies".

Yes, there are vendors when walking on to the beach, but there is security right there as well, so a quick acknowledgement will keep them at bay.

In the refreshed rooms, There is a king size bed (and many have adjoining rooms), but there are 2 steps down from that bed as well as a small slant into the bathroom. It can catch you off guard in the middle of the night.

As a Marriott Ambassador I always look for quality and great customer service when I stay at a Marriott brand hotel and the quality and services at the Westin Resort and Spa Playa Conchal was exceedingly superb and superior. We stayed in Villa 4035 which was an amazing room with an ocean view. The sunsets were impeccable and the access to all the activities on the property was very convenient. There are plenty of wonderful activities the resort provides like kayaking, biking and paddle boarding. Biking the property you will see amazing views of the countryside, the golf course, the volcanos and of course the ocean. The views are breathtaking. The beach is also very splendid and clean. You are met with local vendors that have nice authentic Costa Rican products at a reasonable price. We also met a gentleman named Erik Garcia who is on Trip Advisor who helped us plan amazing excursions. We booked a hiking tour where we saw active volcanoes, took a mineral mud bath and then soaked in the hot springs, went to a waterfall and got to soak in a pristine clear water. The hiking in the national park was amazing too because we saw white face monkeys and all types of cool and interesting foliage and species. I highly recommend Erik Garcia and our tour guide Brian. Overall the hotel is amazing, the food is amazing and you have to experience amazing coffee. The wonderful part of this hotel is that it is all inclusive. The swim up bars in the lagoon style pools are extraordinaire. The bar service is remarkable and Juan on the adults only side took amazing care of us. The restaurant choices on the resort are outstanding and they have 24/7 room service. As I finish this review it would be a disservice if I didn’t mention how important and how much attentiveness that the resort, transportation company, and even our tour guide Brian focused on sanitation practices to prevent the spreading of COVID19. When our transportation company picked us up they sprayed down our luggage, took our temperature and gave us a clean and sanitized vehicle to take us to the resort. The resort was clean and they were always sanitizing surfaces and had alcohol based hand sanitizer everywhere. The staff all wore masks despite the 90 degree weather. The patrons all wore mask except while eating and while in the pool but people were still social distancing. The tour guide Brian wore a mask the whole trip and made us feel safe. Everyone at the resort did a great job following best practices to prevent COVID19 and I highly recommend if you’re looking for a trip that you would want to feel safe then the Westin Resort and Spa Playa Conchal is the place for you.

I visited this hotel, during August - September 2019. All I can say, is that it was the best hotel which I have ever stayed at. Firstly, the staff are absolutely amazing. They are always available to help with a smile. The service is always quick and friendly, and as it is all inclusive it really makes the stay even more enjoyable. Secondly, there is a large range of different restaurants with different cuisines from all around the world. All of the restaurants offer delicious food and they are also very open when dealing with allergies and intolerances. Thirdly, the pool is spectacular. The size of the pool, the deck chairs around the pool, the swim up bar makes the pool the best place. The beach is also absolutely beautiful, with many people offering water sports. The hotel rooms are air conditioned, and kept cleaned with a very spacious area, making it perfect for families. It is an amazing hotel, with astonishing views, and a varied choice of activities which you can do during the day. You dont even need to leave the resort as everything is included there. I loved every bit about this hotel. There is an onsite cafe, gym, market and bar which makes the experience even better. I will definitely be visiting this hotel again in the near future.

We visited this resort during the Nov 2020 covid era. They were very respectful of all the regulations, cleaning protocols and mask wearing requirements.
We stayed for 3 weeks and found the poolside umbrellas/lounge chairs and restaurants were well set up for proper social distancing in all venues. The outdoor spaces were very clean and the grounds were well maintained. The wait staff and poolside staff are very attentive and friendly. The food choices were varied and walking to the different food venues was very pleasant and when it was raining they have lots of extended golf cart vehicles to get you there without getting wet. We ordered our lunch to our poolside loungers every day, that was heaven.
We appreciated the separation of adult quiet pool areas and family areas which were much more active and noisy.
Our room was well cleaned and we had a choice of how often we wanted the linens changed.
The beach is wonderful and you can walk along the pathways in the shaded areas in the trees or along the shortline.
We did the short walk to the north end of the beach and into the very small community of Brasilito for a change of scenery. It was an easy walk.
Lots of bird life and animal life around the property. We could hear the howler monkeys but we never actually saw them. We did speak people who did see them near the family pool area.
Loved trying all the different poolside drinks made by the friendly and attentive pool bar staff. They were proficient in English and they were happy to help us with our spanish.
Loved the meandering pool and 'beach style' entry points at several places around the edge.
Spa services were reasonably priced.
Didn't try the golf but the course looked very well maintained.
We did one, resort booked, off the property tour to see the nesting sea turtles after dark. Again, very good at social distancing and masks wearing while giving an amazing and informative tour.
Overall this was a very relaxing vacation and a good way to socially distance and get fresh air and exercise in a safe manner.

I want to start by saying that I been in others all inclusive during this pandemic and I this is the only resort where I truly feel safe. There are only using royal beach rooms which really went beyond my expectations, in the restaurants they clean after a person leaves the table, mask is mandatory all the time (except when you eating or you are the the pool) quality of the food is terrific. I been in this hotel before and this time has been my best experience so far. If you looking to escape the city relax get good food, good drinks and feel covid safe this is the place to go.

We are currently staying at the Westin and must say we are very disapointed with the overal holiday. We have upgraded to a suite in the royal club and the room is very nice but the mini bar is never replaced the coffee machine does not work and they have to deliver hot water to us at 7:30am each morning each to make a cup of tea. This took 5 conversations with 3 rude and uninterested staff and 2 helpful staff to organise. The club room is unusable with no service and really unhelpful staff and it closes when it likes so why do we have a club room. The bar staff by the pool are very helpful but insist in serving in one use plastic cups because of covid really how is that helping anyonesurely glasses and plastic beakers in a dishwasher are better for the environment and safer. The management have been non existant. The food in the Italain was very good and breakfast is good. But the steak house do not know how to make food or serve it and the asian bamboo restauarant was awful. We said to the server it ws bland and everything tasted the same to get a shrug of the shoulders and ignored. On the whole we are really disapointed and cannot understand why the resort gets such great reveiws. The food at best has been medeocure. The best meals we have had have been in Masala and Patigonia outside the resort and we intend not to eat much in the resort any more. Why do all inclusive when they do not serve you a s drink or food whne and how you want.

We had a large group of family staying at the Westin for a week and had a great experience! Some of our party stayed in the adults only beach club towers and the others with kids in the main rooms. Both were very nice options and not to far of a walk from each other. The grounds are expansive and beautiful with something for everyone. All of the staff were very attentive and friendly and made us feel comfortable and very safe. We tried all of the restaurants and the buffet and all had good options for kids and adults with good size portions and delicious, fresh options. We had a large party ever night for dinner and it was no problem for the staff. The Italian restaurant was our favorite! The house cleaners did a good job each day and were very trustworthy with our belongings. There are lots of activities offered by the hotel and also some offered by the local Tica people right at the main entrance of the beach - including beach massage and adventure tours. We booked all of our tours through the local Erik in the blue shirt, including zip lining, horseback riding and a beautiful waterfall and hot springs hike. Erik offers a great deal for families, and the travel to and from the hotel is very easy using his people and felt very safe. I highly recommended using Erik to book your excursions!

We greatly enjoyed our vacation at the Westin and would recommend to other family and friends!
