A few years back, they had a little massage place just off the resort property; can anyone tell me if it's still there? Thank-you from Canada.

The service, food selection, pools, are all very good. We have been 4 times and each time we find something new, this time it was a bowling alley which was fun. Our rooms are always clean and fresh smelling. The Massage I think are very expensive but you can go upstairs to the tranquility room with a pool and low lighting or the hot
tub and sauna. People please give a tip for good service especially in the fancy restaurants a peso or two bucks American.
End you evening with a drink in the main lobby with bartender Gustavo Lopez a great bartender with a really good sense of humor!

Gustavo Lopez, great bartender, lots of fun to be around, fast and efficient and will make any drink you can come up with! Thank you Gustavo!

We got back from a week at OTC last week. American travelers as a couple for our 8th visit to this resort (non-timeshare member). The resort is still a great value but had its high points and some disappointing times so I’ll break into two groups.
Positive - the food continues to get better every time. Privlege, Italian and Japanese continue to be very good. Mexican has stepped up their game. We ate their twice the food was so delicious. Well done to improve that restaurant!
Privlege staff - Jose Luis CID on the beach always had a spot for us before we got to the beach and Karen was excellent with beach service. Muriel- this woman is a superstar. Pleasant, smiling, remembered us every time and was constantly asking if everything was ok and if we need anything. I miss the days when the staff in privlege would come by at breakfast to ask if everything was ok, needed dinner reservations etc but she actually delivers. On the last day she knew we were checking out and while walking me to the table at breakfast asked if we needed to schedule a bellman. It’s the little things. The privlege restaurant service staff - Jesus, Edgar, and both Angels not only remember us every time, but they remember our likes and really make us feel like family. It makes it so easy for us every time we return. To that list I should also add Cynthia from the buffet service staff. Every year she greets me with a smile and a hug. Also I should say that we got there the day after tropical storm Michael blew through and the beach maintenance staff did a good job of cleaning up and getting the beach back to normal in 2 days. We were in room 2306 and our housekeeping was excellent the whole week.

Now the unfortunate negatives, which I hate mentioning but I also know that OTC takes this feedback seriously and has done a good job to make improvements to the resort. Juan in Privledge was just lost. He had to ask our room number at least 25 times this trip, he made our dinner reservations wrong twice...it was not a the right level of service and he seemed to always be at the desk for us to interact with. Also I thought the quiet pool was the privlege pool but when the beach was being cleaned after the tropical storm everyone was at the pool and they didn’t enforce the “if stuff has been on this chair for than an hour we remove it for other guests to use the chairs” so we had to go to the “party pool “ with the combo go music just to get a lounge chair.

All in all we will probably be back but i hope the privledge service gets back to where it was in the past.

Pro tip: you will probably get better spa pricing when the therapists come around to the pool or beach to try to book appointments and the. I’m on services are worth it. I have never had a bad massage or facial at this place.

My husband and two children stayed at this resort over spring break in late March. In our experience, the hotel was overall really good. Our trip had a very rocky start. I booked the hotel directly through the hotel’s website and arranged transportation through the site provided. When we exited the airport upon arrival, there was no one holding a sign with our name as the I formation we were given explained. Fortunately my husband, who is a native Spanish speaker, was able to track down the company and get our van. It took quite some time though and they didn’t have a car seat, as per initial our request. One of the agents was able to snag one for us so we got lucky. Make sure you have your voucher printed.

The hotel was about 15-20 minutes from my the airport which was great. We paid extra fo Preferred, so we go to check in at the desk. The check in agent asks for a credit card to pay for the room, but I booked through their site and already paid. I paid through PayPal so had to log into my account to show him the payment, in addition to my online confirmation I fortunately had printed. It looks like they use a third party for payments and it possibly didn't get to them yet, but who knows? Then He proceeds to tell me I owe about $400 in taxes. Uhh, no. I show him my paperwork which says taxes are included. Finally I end up only owing about $7 for the environmental tax, which was fine and what I expected. One reason I booked directly through the hotel was to avoid issues like this...

Once we are taken to our room, things only get better. It appears that the snafu at checkin was worth it, as we were upgraded to a very large ocean front suite. We had a view of the ocean and the kid’s pool and a nice wrap around balcony. It was nice and spacious and we were very happy.

We were able to try most of the restaurants and the quality of the food was much better than most of the resorts I’ve stayed at previously. The biggest weakness was their deserts which seemed very store bought. The people that complain about lack of variety, especially at breakfast are the people that are trying to eat everything in one sitting. Pick a few things for breakfast and switch up everyday. Of course you’re going to get bored if you try to eat every option available in one sitting!

The ocean/beach had good days and bad days. Our first day the seaweed was heavy and covering the beach, but the other days it was fine. The water looked more like lake water and not what you’d expect to see in Mexico unfortunately. Obviously no fault of the hotel and they do their best to keep it clean. We walked down the beach and the other hotels had the same problem and seemed less successful in keeping it clean.

The pools were great but chairs fill up early, so I recommend getting a spot before heading to breakfast.

Our kids are 4 and 7 and loved the kids club so much that I had to practically force them to hang out with us for a few hours each day. I do wish they had some evening hours though so parents could have a relaxing dinner alone every so often.

The spa was nice and had a pretty good massage. Just like any resort, they are pricey and you can get cheaper ocean front massages if you walk down the beach.

The shows we saw were fun and entertaining and we really enjoyed the music in the lobby, as well as the special events like mixology class and the flaming coffee show.

Overall, the staff was excellent. Most seemed happy to help and happy to be there. The timeshare people didn’t bother us too much. Just act like you have somewhere to be and keep moving, you’ll be just fine.

Biggest tip: make sure you have all paperwork printed so you can prove you have arranged it paid for certain things.

I would say this place is a solid 4 1/2 stars and we would absolutely return.

This hotel is not even a 4-star in my book. The outside is beautiful (except for the seaweed and unswimmable water) but the standard rooms are outdated and dirty despite the constant cleaning. The room has minimal pictures online and most close-ups are of the "Privilege" rooms. Of course, the hotel bombards you with information upon arrival making it rushed and confusing and then they offer you a free romantic dinner or romantic massage (30 minute-couples) or $100 for an excursion by offering them 60 minutes of your time. We accepted and showed up as requested. Three different people, although very friendly, asked us the same questions three times and proceeded to take up 2 hours worth of our time in an attempt to get us to purchase a $50k vacation membership for various H10 hotels. This included about 5 minutes in one of their 4-star Privilege rooms (not the tour I was expecting). Luckily they shooed us out quickly after that and we got our vacation underway.
I would definitely say that this resort is family-oriented. The only entertainment after ~8pm is for kids outside or the elderly in the lobby. There was music at 10:30pm but by then we had been practically put to sleep with the lack of activity.
No doubt everyone went to bed early in order to wake up at 6AM and reserve a lawn chair. The pools close at 8pm but they are empty by about 6pm when everyone goes to change into their evening attire to meet dress code for the restaurants.
The restaurants had long waits and the buffet got old after a few days. It was nice to try the variety of foods offered. The best meal we had was probably the barbacoa tacos at the Hacienda Los Girasoles restaurant. I encountered several meats that were not fully cooked, especially the chicken at the outdoor buffet (Villa Marina). The egg whites in the fried eggs, scrambled eggs, nor omelettes were fully cooked either.
The best part of the trip was the staff that worked endlessly for tips and a good review. One such man was Abel Hernandez, a waiter in the front lobby. There were a few people who weren't friendly, but most went out of there way to be helpful.
The worst part of the trip was the tainted liquor that we were served from the lobby bar on our last day. After about 20 minutes my husband, who had only had 1 1/2 drinks, started acting as though he had had at least a 12-pack. His limbs felt heavy and he was instantly sleepy. He was asleep by 8:30pm and when he woke up in the morning he still felt groggy. So, be careful. And watch them make your drinks each time!
We will not be visiting Mexico again, maybe a US territory but the good price on a "nice" room is not worth the worry of being taken advantage of in a foreign country.

First of all, we would like to express our gratitude for having chosen Ocean Coral & Turquesa as your host for your last vacation in the Riviera Maya. We lament to read that some aspects of your vacation were not at the height of your expectactions regarding the tainted alchohol you mention please let me advise that this is not correct as we manage a very strict food, drinks, health and hygiene program which an external audit comes and takes tests of all our food drinks including ice in order to see that we are doing the correct procedures and never expose our guests health, Rest assured that we take good note of all of your comments and that we will transmit them to the different departements implicated so that we can make our service offer even better.
