I was sent here to relax and chill out for 15 days as it was the only way I could gain entry into the USA due to the current Covid restrictions for Europeans. And I was greatly surprised by the hotel and especially its staff.

As I didn’t pay for the hotel because the company I work for covered that, it meant I had plenty of money to go scuba diving everyday, doing 20 dives over the 16 days I was there. So I rented a bicycle from Puerto Morelos village about 5km from the hotel and spent all my morning at wet set divers.

So usually got back to the hotel for lunch, as I was by myself I frequented the adults only pool and bar. The staff there were amazing, special mention to Ever, Javier, Dary they served an a la carte lunch and I would recommend the beef baguette or the Cordon Bleu. Also a big shout out to the pool waiter Ricardo, so attentive and always made sure I had a Piña Colada every time he came past.

Then mid afternoon I’d always go to Mikes Coffee for a good strong espresso with ice and some delicious pastries. After about the third day I didn’t even have to ask proving how attentive to their clients the staff in there where.

Of a night I ate in the Italian, Mexican, American and the steak house and also the buffet although it wasn’t open very often all the restaurants were good although the portions maybe a bit small but there was nothing stopping you ordering another portion, I suppose this is to reduce waste and it is totally understandable.

And as for the beach, yes it is full of seaweed and it does smell, but it’s an act of nature and the hotel can’t do nothing about it so before moaning to the hotel staff about it if we didn’t destroy our planet like we are doing maybe it wouldn’t be so bad as this is a rather new occurrence.

All in all a i had a great time even being by myself and would deffinetly recommend this hotel to anyone, couples, families and groups of friends

Perfect hotel for families but there is so much seaweeds in the sea but the pools have many activities and they are so hot so they can replace the beach. I loved the employees they are so kind and they have an energy that makes your trip so nice. There is activities outside the hotel and i made one the catamaran and it was super nice. The other activities are snorkeling, fishing, diving and others that i forgot. There is a place for younger kids to go swim. There is also a place for teenager to go "chill" if they want to go play video game, bowling in family, baby foot and pool. I recommend it for every ages and it value the price.

Allen family (11407) 3/10/18-17/10/18

Just returned from “O C T” after our 2nd holiday here and it was a fantastic time.
After a long day traveling from the UK, we was welcomed warmly with a refreshing drink and quickly given our room.
A nice guy called Cruz , quickly dealt with our luggage etc, A good man.
Unfortunately I had a problem with my leg and the room was unsuitable, as it was quite a walk to the restaurants etc.
A quick visit to reception and it was resolved.
Hugo and Jonathon were very helpful and we was given room 11407 with a wonderful sea view
We chose to come back to this hotel, as we had such a great time on our last visit and our daughter loved the kids club.
The girls here are fantastic with the kids and our daughter Ruby was very sad to say goodbye to them.
A big thank you to the girls- Indy ,Mariana and Miriam.
You made our holiday great , as we got to spend quality time together, while you kept our daughter Ruby happy.
What really makes this hotel great, is the staff and how hard they work.
Always with a smile and nothing is too much trouble.
All who I will mention, are a credit to the hotel and worthy of recognition for their efforts.
FOOD.
Food is always of a good standard and plenty of variety, something for everyone.
Even as a fussy eater, I always found something I liked at the various restaurants.
Although we wasn’t very impressed with the steakhouse.
It’s just not what it should be and doesn’t offer what should be associated with a steakhouse in general.
Our favourite by far, was the breakfast buffet.
A great selection of food and drinks.
This was made a pleasure every morning, as we was waited on by two fantastic guys.
SIXTO and DANNY - two very
hard working guys and a great double act together.
They deserve a bonus 😊
Nothing was too much trouble and they had us crying with laughter, every morning.
A great way to start your day, so look out for them both, as they are a credit to the hotel and we look forward to seeing our new friends again in the future.
Muchos Gracias, mi amigo’s, it was a pleasure to meet you both.
PLEASE tip these guys, they work hard and appreciate your tips.
Try and book the Asian restaurant early , as it is very popular and an entertaining evening to be had.
The food is very good also.
The Italian restaurant does great food and
has a nice atmosphere.
We didn’t visit the Mexican restaurant this time, but was also quite good on our previous holiday.
Route 66 has a varied menu, as an American diner and do a great burger etc.
Try the fried pickles, they are really good.
You can get a bite to eat and drink here , til around 5-6 am.
Room service is very good and 24 hrs.
Good menu offered and always arrived quickly and hot.
We welcomed this service on a couple of occasions, after our long day of travelling from England.
There are various themed food offerings days and nights, I’m sure you will enjoy.
Our favourite restaurant by the main pool , was closed for refurbishment and due to open again very soon.
POOLS AND BEACH
Several pools to choose from, depending on age and mood.
Children’s pool is being reconstructed at the moment and will soon be a water park .
I’m sure the little ones will love it.
Main pool is very relaxed and has waitress drinks service and small bar.
Great staff here .
Carlos- number one barman !!
Great at what he does and a lovely guy to pass time with.
Also a big thank you to Havier Jemma and Last but not least, Theresa (Tiger eyes)
They fetch and carry all day and work very hard in their job.Thank you all for looking after us so well.
Please tip these guys, they deserve it and appreciate it too.
There is also daytime entertainment, games etc at this pool.
There are fun n games to be had at the pool bar , such as foam party’s and loud music and games.
This may not be suitable for the young ones, especially without adult supervision.
There is also a quiet pool by the crepery at the end of the hotel, that doubles as the steakhouse .
The beach can be nice , but unfortunately has been hit by a storm recently and is in need of some upkeep.
The seaweed is coming in daily and mounting up quicker than it can be cleared.
The hotel have a machine and staff clearing it daily, but it is clearly an ongoing battle for them.
Mother Nature is hard sometimes.
This did not stop us from going on the beach or in the sea and had a nice time.
For the record, it is not the tranquil , Caribbean beach you may be expecting and the water is NOT clear blue , until you go out to sea.
This part of the coast is having a hard time at the moment, but is still a nice part of the world to spend some time.
ENTERTAINMENT.
A lot of new staff here since our last visit ,
All lovely people and VERY hard working.
The shows are very entertaining and a nice way to fill some time in the evening.
Unfortunately , we have seen all of the shows before and feel maybe they should be working on some new material for the future.
That’s not to say the shows are bad, because they are very good.
Just a shame we have seen them already..
There is a dive centre situated in the hotel and they offer various diving courses and boat trips etc .
Or some various excursions can be booked in the reception area .
I would advise doing your homework, as prices can vary between the two and a bit of haggling can be to your advantage.
All in all , a great hotel in a wonderful part of the world.
Would I come again ?
YES, we will be back again next year.
Would I recommend ?
YES😊 don’t believe all of the negative things you read and give this place a chance and experience it for yourself.
Thank you O C T, another fantastic holiday.
We hope to see you all again soon.
MUCHOS GRACIAS, mi amigos.
Best regards, The Allen family.

My gf and I just got back from this nice and beautiful hotel. We paid $850 for one week (9/7-9/14) at this all inclusive hotel in Puerto Morelos (PM). Our primary goal was to get certified in scuba diving, and to relax by the pool and on the beach. This hotel was perfect (or close to it).

Overall:
Consider the price that we paid and the service that we received, it was well-worth the trip. The facility is new, the staffs are friendly, and the food was good enough for one week without getting too boring.

Checking in:
It is likely you will arrive early like we did. We got to the hotel around 10:00 a.m. We requested an early check-in and were able to get into our room by 1:30 p.m. First thing you will do is talking to a hotel staff, who explains to you different facilities in the resort (i.e. where can you go to eat and swim) and tries to schedule a time-share breakfast meeting (though they claim it's not) with you. There should be some waiter carrying rum-punches around; if not, get some of your favorite drink at the bar. My recommendation is blue margarita. We ended up canceling our breakfast meeting due to conflict with our planned chichen itza trip. But, as fate would have it, we ended up not going to Chichen Itza and went to H10's time-share meeting and actually purchased one. (eh if this interest you, go to the forum and read about my EL CID timeshare complaints.)

Back to checking'in and killing time before actually getting into our room, we went down to the snack bar by the adult pool, and had brunch till 12:30 p.m. and went to Casa Del Mar to have lunch again. Snack bar is out door and not air conditioned. We saw flies surrounding the burger and hotdog buns, and we avoided those. (I did end up having a burger there during my stay when I did not see any flies around.) Casa Del Mar is nice and cool, and this is your main buffet hall for all three meals, so you will very familiarize with it.

Rooms:
We stayed in building 11 on the fourth floor. I emailed Erica and let her know that we are here for our 6 year anniversary, and she didn't let us down. There was champagne and chocolate-coated strawberries waiting for us in the room.

The room is nice and clean. Large shower for two, and a rather small but long-enough for one tub. Shower does leak, because of the bad design. However, it didn't bother us a bit. Just put down a tower and all is well. Limited toiletries was a little disappointing; all the essentials are there, but nothing fantastic.

The TV was my nemesis. I was able to get ESPN1 and 2 in English here and there, but never consistently. Maybe it's my fault for tinkering with the settings. (go to menu and do std and auto scan can give you more access to channels, sometimes. But it resets after you turn it off.) Most shows are in Spanish and some movie/tv-show channels are in English.

Maid was friendly, or maybe we were just lucky. Every request that I leave on a note pad, with my 3-5 dollar tips, she fulfilled. (I need my diet cokes and gf needs her water.) We were able to obtain 2-3 sets of white towels form her everyday. We needed extra towel for our scuba lesson in town and she had no problem giving them to us. Our maid always did nice towel arts (Swans etc), tissue arts, and curtain arts that gf loved.

Great view from the balcony - but I wouldn't go out at night to the balcony without bug spray. In fact, past sunset, I would not be out without some Bug-Off. Please do remember you are entering a jungle. Another warning would be do not put food on the table next to Ethernet cable, close to the balcony door. Ants.

Internet works in the room if you got your own Cat-5 cable; otherwise, please visit the lobby. I had no problem using the safe in room with my 12" laptop.

Beach:

This was somewhat disappointing. The truth of the matter is the beach is just full of seaweeds, unless you swim out a bit or go south ( Cozumel or Tulum) . We walked all the way from PM town back to H10 along the shore. Seaweed was at every beach and in front of every hotel. You see four wheelers driving by throughout the day to pick them up. Beyond that, the sand is soft, the water is warm and the sky is blue. It's still nice to swim in and good enough to walk on. I give them benefit of the doubt, because of the past four hurricanes, especially IKE.

Plenty of chairs and shade by the beach in front of hotel, and depending on your fellow travelers, there may be some nude-sunbathers.

Pools (3):

Kids Pool - this is where you play water polo, volleyball, and basketball. During my stay, there were not a lot of kids, so this pool was actually quite enjoyable.

Adult Pool - This pool has music and a swim-up bar, but they seriously need to staff this bar with better bartenders. It's a hit of miss depend on the hour of the day.

Pool by the VIP Lounge - Peace and quiet normally. This is where you can swim lap if you feel like it.

All three pools has jets and are beautiful to look at. The only issue that I have are towel cards. I only found one location to be consistently open throughout the day, which is near the kids pool. Towel cards get you the big blue long beach towel.

About the beds by the pool, I do see people reserve it w/ their blue towel early in the morning, but maybe because it's the hurricane season, we were able to get one usually at night without much hassle. These beds are overrated anyways.

Food:

Casa Del Mar - main buffet place. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Good variety of food. It's just like any college cafeteria, you can make your own omelets for breakfast or pasta (for lunch and dinner.) For dinner there is usually some special foods: fried fish (pretty good), and steak, pork or chicken. These all depends on the chef that's making it. I was able to get them to make my flank steak just the way I like it - medium rare. But, if you don't tell them, it probably will be well-done and to some that just taste like rubber.

Ice-cream is okay, but I ended up having one-three every dinner, maybe because it's just hot outside.

Snack Bar - another place to eat all day long. But see above, we generally avoided it, because it's outdoor. Nothing special here other than you get a good view at the pool and the beach.

Themed Restaurants - generally, you have to wait and cannot make reservations, unless you are a VIP. We ended up becoming a VIP and did not have to wait when we showed up at our reserved time. It's just a change of themes, I would still say Casa Del Mar is better. And for all themed restaurants, guys suppose to wear long pants, jeans are fine. At first I was annoyed, but it's fine. After all, gf does put on nice dress for me, the least I could do was put on my jeans and a polo shirt.

Japanese restaurant - food is mediocre. You should go there for the experience, if you went with friends. It's Benihana like. Cream cheese sushi is okay with me, but gf disliked it. She finds food here to be on the salty side.

Italian restaurant - Salmon is good and lasagna is okay. We ended up eating here twice. Service is hit or miss. They do seem like they are making an effort to please.

Mexican restaurant - Another medicore food place for me. Maybe because I was spoiled with the taste of real guac in PM. Order the Mayan Coffee, it's just a nice fire show to look at. The actual coffee is too chocolaty for me. Fish fillet was half decent.

Mike's Cafe - Coookies, cakes, and coffee. Nothing impressive here. Come here in the afternoon, if you want to change scenery. Gf enjoyed reaching into the big cookies jars and taking out the cookies. Their drinks/food here is eh.

Sports Bar - Wings and Fries are good. I would say no to the nachos. Ribeye steak was a joke. (unless you can get them to cook to medium rare).

VIP Lounge - only breakfast, but it's nice a quiet. Lunch and dinner are just finger foods - kabobs etc. Gf and I ended up having all our breakfasts there once we became a premium member. Very peaceful and quiet at all times. There is room for improvement there though.

Bars/Drinks:

Bartenders are nicer in the lobby than by the pool. There is no top shelf liquor unless you become a Premium member and/or your wrist band is a different color. They generally make an effort to make you drinks and they are not water down drinks either. But, cheap alcohol is cheap. Don't expect too much.
[VIP lounge at night have a very nice female bartender and where they take you to do timeshare meetings have pretty good bar tender too. Plus you get better alcohol there too. ]

You can get water for your morning trip at the front desk or bar. We did not have any problems.

Customer Service

Customer service is great for us. Again this may be because either it was a slow season or that we tried to tip. We are reasonable tippers, 1 dollar per luggage and 3-5 dollar per meal. Nothing exceedingly generous. Yet, the staff always said hi when they walked pass you and the day of our departure, the bellboy ( sorry that I forgot his name) who helped us moving in 7 days ago, asked when we were checking out and wrote down our room number. He showed up on-time at our door and assisted us with our luggage.

Using the lobby phone was pretty easy. I had them calling local numbers for me (which you could do yourself by pressing 9 on the phone in your room. I didn't find out till later.) They are actually quite attentive. We sat at lobby waiting for our "tour" that we bought from an El Cid guy working at an information booth in Puerto Morelos from 6:30 and 8:30. The staff came by and offered assistance. I went to front desk and had them call several number every 15-30 minutes. They had no issues and even asked me if everything was fine a day later.

Nightlife:
This is not a party resort. In fact, PM is not a party town. Go to Cancun for that. There are buses or cabs that take you to Cancun or Playa. The staffs do try their best to put some some events at night, but I was not very impressed with them.

The Spa:
SPA is mediocre. I guess it's okay to get a rub down after you put your skin thru 4-5 days of sun torture. It's just another place to relax. Gf and I had an hour massage together. It was nothing spectacular. But by purchasing their services at the SPA, you gain access to their steam room, and jacuzzi in the back.

The Gym:
Quite a pleasant surprise. It is small but it has almost everything you need. Dumbbells up to 50lbs. Bar/plate weights for deadlift, shoulder press. Machines for legs, chest. Treadmills and bikes. It's not that crowded when we went; but we only went there once.

Summary:

I truly enjoyed my time at the resort and it was money well spent. Before you make a trip here, you need to remember that it's a jungle out here. There are going to be mosquitoes and flies. None in the rooms though. But if you don't put on bug repellant after sunset, you will be a pretty good target. Not sure why others are comparing this to 5 star resorts where they are paying 2-3 times more money per night. If I was paying that much, I would expect no wait at all time. But, I digress. At H10, they are a little understaff at certain locations (esp swimup bar) at times, but the staffs generally make an effort to get what you want/need for you, at least GF and I never had a problem. Final note, this applies to all resorts, but especially not adult-only resorts. It really depends on who else in on the resort with you at the same time. During our stay, there were kids, but all of them were polite and adorable. Didn't really interfere with our stay. Only saw them at the kids pool or the pool near the VIP lounge. But, on our last day, which marked the beginning of Mexico Independence Day, we saw TONs of kids and new guests. We were glad that we were out of there.

Feel free to private message me if you have specific questions.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the H10 Punta Turquesa/Coral from Saturday, Feb 23rd to Sunday, March 2nd and greatly enjoyed our stay. While they are still fairly new, please do not expect 5 star service (after all, that's why we got such a great price!! I doubt it will be this affordable in a year or two). I've put down a few tips here in case you are planning a trip to the H10 in the near future.

Check In: Check in to your room is at 3pm, SO please be sure to keep your flight arrival times in mind when booking. We arrived at 4am and knew that we wouldn't be able to check in until 3pm that day, so we packed another set of clothes and bathing suits so that we could immediately begin enjoying the resort, which we did, and there were plenty of places to have a nap even in the main lobby with all the sofas. They lock up your luggage for you as well (so this comes in handy if you have to check out at noon the day you leave and your flight doesn't leave until later- in our situation, we had our room the last night and then left the resort at 2am for our flight home). Check-in was also a little confusing because we didn't get towel cards or a lock for the safe or a TV remote right off the bat, so we just went back to them later to get everything. I definitely recommend going on the tour with your travel agent rep so that they can give you the ins and outs of the resort, tell you about the activities and entertainment each day, they also give you a resort map and the phone number to call to make your a la carte reservations, and they will also be able to tell you what happens if your return flight time changes. The bars and restaurants are all open at different times as well, so having the map helps because it will tell you when and where you can get some pina coladas and munchies!

A La Carte Restaurants: The H10 has 3 a la cartes that you can reserve to eat at, and we managed to get all 3 but only ended up going to 2 of them. There is an Italian one, which was really good, but has smaller capacity so gets booked up a lot! We lucked out because we called again another day and they happened to have a cancelation for that evening so we got in. In addition, there was a Mexican one (which I wasn't that crazy about) and a Japanese Teppanyaki-style as well. We were really happy with the service, especially at the Italian. We noticed a lot of guests tried to get into the restaurants by talking to the hostess when they opened but they can't really help you because they're all ready booked up by that point so just call the extension number that they give you to make the reservations. Also, for men, pack long pants and nice shoes as they do have a dress code. The other restaurants do not have a similar dress code (you just have to be wearing a shirt at most).

Activities: The activities group were really great and always tried to bring some fun into the vacation - at night, they would get everyone up and dancing, and during the day, they would hold numerous games, like beach volleyball, soccer and water aerobics, as well as a Cancun pubcrawl at night (where you get all your drinks for free and no waiting in lines).
In addition, if you like to get off your resort like we do, there are so many wonderful things to see and do in the Mayan Rivieria! We definitely recommend doing one of the tours to see the ruins (we did the full day trip to Chichen Itza and we had such a great tour guide), as well as the Selvatica Zipline trip (which is super close to the resort and they pick you up). There is also a free shopping tour on Mondays, Wed's and Fridays where they will take you to three different shopping destinations in Cancun, including a Mexican flee market (where you can get all the silver, Mexican pottery and blankets you could ever want), and then to two nicer malls in the hotel strip. All the tours can be booked with the Trafic Tour rep in the Coral lobby. We booked the Selvatica tour over the phone but they're also online. In addition, there is a snorkeling/diving rep right on resort and they have a boat that leaves right from our beach to the coral reef. They had some excellent prices.
If you enjoyed the Mexican city life that Puerto Vallarta offers, Playa del Carmen is a must! It's a $30 cab ride or $2 via colectivo (which we took almost everywhere- the only thing is you have to take a $5 cab ride from the resort to the right side of the highway, and then stand at the highway and flag down a white van, called a colectivo, which come every couple of minutes). Playa is almost 30km away and the colectivo's will stop right at the main bus depot only blocks away from the main shopping/restaurant/night club strip in Playa called 5th ave - it's a great strip that is also closed off to automobiles so you can stroll around as you please. There's great places to eat there right on the beach, and some great shopping (though Cancun's flea market is cheaper).

Our accomodations: We were really happy with our rooms and didn't use the shower too much (the bath was nice and big), but if we did, we avoided the whole flooding problem by always keeping our shower handle facing down and away from the door. The rooms do not have irons so if you're like us and don't bother ironing any of our clothes before you pack, then expect lots of wrinkled clothing. There also isn't any wireless internet there but if you have a laptop, the wireless router is located in the Coral lobby and you can access it for free. Room service was great and having the mini fridge in the room was convenient as well. We left tips every day, and on our last day, our maid had left us a sweet little arrangement of flowers. The in-room safes are free, and they're huge - we stored everything in there, including our laptop, so that was great. There's also a ton of TV channels with all the shows we watch back home so that's sweet if you don't want to miss any favourites. Besides that, there is no door for the bathroom however the toilet and shower are both enclosed, so if you're going with family or other people, just make sure you're comfortable with that.

And just some general tips: We loved the milkshakes at the sports bar and some of the daiquiris and pina coladas were great (depending on who you went to) - they also take your drink orders right from the main pool, which was great. Bring a large drinking cup as the wait time can be a little long for drinks sometimes. We never had problems finding a vacant chair around the pool or a palapa on the beach, and the resort is gorgeous! If you don't want to hear a timeshare pitch, avoid responding to your 'free gift' card which they leave in your room for you.

Hope you have a great trip!
