Fantastic place! There is good parking, cafes and toilets. Quite a lot of people in July, but there is enough space for everyone :)

The drive to the beach was challenging, with rough, mountainous roads but stunning views. Upon arrival, parking near the beach was full, so we parked along the road with the help of a local, paying 1 Euro per person to enter the area. The walk from the car to the beach took 30 to 45 minutes downhill, which was easier compared to the uphill return trip that took around an hour.

    Key tips:
    - Bring water and head covering due to the sunny conditions.
    - Wear comfortable sneakers for the hike.
    - Pack beach towels and a picnic mat.

The beach itself was breathtaking, featuring sparkling light blue water and pink sand. There was also a canteen offering pizza, sandwiches, chips, and ice cream. Despite the challenging hike back, the beautiful beach made the entire trip worthwhile.

This was my favourite museum in Greece. Amazing collection, and I loved how it was laid out in time periods of ancient Greece, with conscise and interesting descriptions. The large wooden replica of Knossos Palace was cool as well, as we had visited the site that morning, then got to see many artifacts, frescos, etc. from the site later!

We really loved Rethymno old town. Great range of shops, lots of picturesque side alleys, and heaps of history. We wandered from the bus station near the Fort and headed towards the harbour enjoying seeing everything in between!

It was very interesting. The reconstructions gave a good impression of how big the palace was and what it used to look like. The placement of the palace is really beautiful. There’s barely any shade, so be sure to bring a hat.

The centerpiece of the old city. It’s a gorgeous area to stroll, shop and/or have a drink as the sun goes down. We recommend heading to a tavern with seats facing the harbor and enjoying a Greek spritz.

One of the best hikes I ever experienced and I came from mountains. I wasn't sure at the beginning as I am pregnant and I have also 2 years old girl but I didn't want to go without her. And I don't regret it! You will definitely need carrier as it's mainly hikes on stones and you will need suitable hiking shoes as it will get slippery. I witness some of the people slipped and it wasn't pleasant. Rangers did worry a lot with us but we were extremely careful and made it in 6 hours. We were lucky because they let us but definitely check before you go. She did want to stay on me first 2 km as she only woke up but then my partner took her and she did enjoy the whole trip and I am so proud of her! The hike itself is down the mountain and on the end of the hiking you will feel your feet lol. But as I said it's worth it and it was the best trip we did in Crete and I love beaches. Following day we stayed at hotel as we needed to recover lol

Had low expectations having visited these places before and observed small, overfilled tanks. This place may have been small, but totally different experience, tanks were not overcrowded, tho lots to see. Loved the octopus, fascinating, beautiful and clever creatures. Having an iguana jump on me to use as a high vantage point was a highlight! Nice to see these creatures roaming about interactive with people on their own will. Albino boa constrictor curled up around my arm and made itself comfortable. Wanted to adopt it! Carers Were excellent, cleaning up after any 'messes' left, and very knowledgeable about their animals. These people care about their rescues and to me, it shows. Healthy happy interactive animals. Just be careful not to stand on the critters tails!

Through Tui we booked this trip to Spinalonga and had a great day and made friends on the trip. Took the coach from our hotel and had a guide enroute then we arrived at the boat which was a beautiful trip across the bay to spinalonga. Had to laugh as when we arrived my hat flew off and landed in the water with both the wind and the current dragging it further out. I decided to dive in to retrieve it not being the greatest swimmer or realising just how far it dragged out I managed to rescue it with a cheer from passengers on a boat I had to swim back against the current and wind. Thankfully I managed to swim to the nearest rock but had to climb bear footed up them which was covered in sea urchins 😣.
Anyway back to the trip. Such a sad story of total segregation and lack of understanding and unbelievable just how recent the last case of leprosy was. Great history great views then we went for lunch when back on the mainland traditional moussaka very nice. 😊

Very nice little lake. We arrived somewhat late in the afternoon. Not overly crowded. Parking was available for 2€ - probably also some for free. 15€ for a paddle boat big enough for 4-5 people. We saw lots of turtles and had a great time swimming in the lake.

DON’T BRING FOOD ON THE BEACH. The goats put their heids in the bag and eat everything. So make sure you have a bag with a zip.
