Former NFL Commissioner PAUL TAGLIABUE was part of a “prominent group of political donors, civic leaders and business executives founded to protect the institutions of American democracy” that sent a letter Friday morning to President JOE BIDEN “calling on him to ‘cement your legacy’ by ending his bid for reelection.” The letter was organized by “Leadership Now Project,” a group founded in 2018 “in response to rising concerns about threats to democratic norms” (WASHINGTON POST, 7/5).

WELCOME HOME: Former Braves manager BOBBY COX on Saturday made one of his first trips to Truist Park for a game since he suffered a stroke in 2019, and when the Braves put Cox on the big board, the sellout crowd of 41,006 "roared." Cox was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2020 and has "been out of the public eye for years" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 7/6).

NAMES: Chiefs QB PATRICK MAHOMES and his wife, BRITTANY, were spotted at Wimbledon on Friday, taking in the CARLOS ALCARAZ-FRANCIS TIAFOE match on Centre Court (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 7/6)....White Sox SS NICKY LOPEZ on Thursday marked the debut of his 16-inch Softball Charity Classic at Chicago’s Mount Greenwood Park, the inaugural tournament will feature 16 teams duking it out to raise funds for local youth fighting cancer. The tournament’s winning team will be invited to take batting practice at the White Sox’s Guaranteed Rate Field (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 7/5)....Patriots LB JOSH UCHE has "switched agents," as NFLPA documents note that Uche is "back with" agent DREW ROSENHAUS, who had initially represented him coming out of the Univ. of Michigan when the Patriots selected Uche in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft (ESPN.com, 7/7).

IN MEMORY: VIC SEIXAS, who won 15 Grand Slam tennis tournaments in the 1950s, died on Friday. The oldest living Grand Slam champion, Seixas was 100. Seixas was known for his “superb conditioning and endurance and was frequently ranked among the top 10 players” in the U.S. (N.Y. TIMES, 7/6).
