Sports media and marketing firm Playfly Sports revealed its 2024 Fan Score report for the NHL, with teams such as the Bruins, Leafs and Rangers leading the field, reports SBJ's Alex Silverman. In addition to touting the virtues of the league and its trajectory to marketers, the report, produced in conjunction with Vision Insights, ranks NHL teams based on three different fandom-related metrics: fan passion, fan receptivity and fan marketplace.
- Fan Passion Score measures size of fan base, attendance and viewership; team performance; fan engagement and participation; and fan commitment.
- Fan Receptivity Score is the measure of a fan’s responsiveness to advertising. Playfly measures this based on sponsor recall against actions taken from team sponsorships, positive impressions, consideration and the concentration of avid fans (referred to as “forever fans”).
- Fan Marketplace Score is a mix of advertiser demand data from Playfly’s Home Team Sports ad sales unit and franchise value. It aims to provide an industry-first look at how teams are “valued” by marketers and investors.
