When it comes to the area "down below," most women don't recognize their own anatomy, according to a new survey.

Shocked? So were we.

Feminine hygiene product manufacturer Summer's Eve conducted a listening tour with a diverse group of women around the nation and discovered that 70 percent of us can't identify the major parts of the vagina! So as a brief public health service to women everywhere, we're offering up a helpful "cheat sheet" that explains your lady bits.

  1. Labia: The labia majora are the outer lips of the vulva. These pads of meaty tissue packed with sweat and oil glands are typically covered in pubic hair (unless you're a fan of Brazilian waxes). The inner lips of the vulva (the labia minora) are often referred to as "the flower." They're the thin stretches of tissue within the "big labia" that fold and protect the vagina, urethra and clitoris. Sometimes they protrude outside the big labia and other times they're tiny, hiding between the labia majora. Regardless, they are sensitive to touch and a source of sexual pleasure when appropriately handled.

  2. Vagina: We're pretty sure you can identify this amazing part. The vagina is the canal that leads from the uterus to the external orifice where your genitals are. It's also the channel through which life is born (unless you have a C-section, of course!).

Test your knowledge by taking Summer's Eve's ID the V quiz, which launched today! For every correctly completed quiz, Summer's Eve will donate $1 to "i am that girl," a girls' advocacy organization led by Survivor finalist Alexis Jones.
