Update: The victim was publicly identified by police on July 9 as Fei Li of 45th Avenue in Flushing.

A body was found in Kissena Lake Wednesday morning, the NYPD press office said. 

Just after 9:30 a.m., authorities responded to a report of a man unconscious and in need of medical assistance in the lake in Kissena Park, the NYPD said. Upon EMS’s arrival, the man was still unconscious and was unresponsive; he was declared deceased on the scene.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification; police said he was 40 years old.

The incident is still under investigation, and the cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office, the NYPD said. 

The lake is only about four feet deep, per the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
