I want people with a blend of cultures to know that they can discover who they really are between all the messiness of competing values like what career they should be in, how much money they should make, and so on.
Hi there! My license says Navjot Kaur, but you can call me Navi. After a successful decade in IT, I realized I was climbing a ladder I didn't really want to be on. So, after a lot of soul searching, I took a leap of faith and became a therapist. My wish for others is to discover that they have more choices than they think, they have the power to change, and that they are worthy of satisfying and nurturing relationships. I love working with people from different backgrounds, and my experience as a child of immigrant parents gives me a special heart for working with adults who face the challenges of being part of multiple cultures.

I have training and experience working with adults and college students with a wide range of concerns: anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, identity and relationship concerns, and life transitions, including career and parenthood.
I believe each person has unique strengths and experiences to successfully navigate life's challenges. However, sometimes, we find ourselves feeling stuck: struggling with depression or anxiety, stressed by our many roles in life, overwhelmed by loss, or holding the pieces of broken relationships, unable to find a way out on our own. My goal is to create a collaborative, culturally-sensitive and compassionate space in which I offer personally-tailored interventions for your situation while working with you to identify and utilize your own strengths to bring about positive change in your life.

My areas of interest include adolescents and young adults who are struggling with the transition to adulthood; women’s issues, including managing role conflicts of parent and career, infertility, adoption, grief and loss; post divorce coping; chronic medical illness and depression and anxiety management.
I understand that deciding to see a Psychologist is stressful and a big first step toward feeling better. I believe the benefit you receive from therapy is directly related to your feeling of comfort and connection with your therapist. I have a warm sense of humor and use compassion and sensitivity to quickly understand your situation. I incorporate a Cognitive-Behavioral approach in therapy and focus on the therapeutic relationship, warmth and genuine understanding. As a wife, professional, and mom to two teens, two dogs and two guinea pigs, I know life can be hectic! My goal is to help you wade through the chaos to find the calm.

These can include self-esteem issues, conflicts, career difficulties, communication issues, and difficulty with interpersonal relationships.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I received a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from University Texas Southwestern Medical Center. I work with mental health struggles for adults of all ages including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, trauma, and stress. Having received counseling services in the past myself, I know how difficult it can be to take the steps necessary to ask for help. I believe building a good relationship between therapist and client, along with concrete strategies, can help set people back on the road to recovery.

Firstly, I am so glad you are looking for opportunities to grow! As a clinical social worker, my commitment is to assist clients in unveiling their fullest potential. Self-reflection allows us to acknowledge the less polished aspects of ourselves. It's perfectly normal to stumble; the key is learning from every experience. I especially enjoy walking along side individuals navigating life transitions (moving, graduating, new job, leaving or beginning a new romantic relationship, etc). Sometimes past wounds can prevent us from achieving our goals, I can help you build tools to break down these barriers.
