Unconditional Positive Regard is something that we are all deserving of. A lot of times, life becomes all-consuming, and not only do we feel a lack of acceptance from others; but many of us internalize our experiences in a way that keeps us from feeling confident. Self-Actualization is a fancy way to say "I love myself and I trust myself". It takes a lot of courage to step into the realm of discomfort and as for support - but it's not out of our reach.

It’s all too common for us to doubt ourselves or face mental health struggles. It’s natural to experience unhelpful patterns or symptoms when we’ve experienced trauma. We may feel disconnected, chronically stressed, withdrawn, or depressed. We might engage in unhealthy patterns of behavior and self-talk and we may become unsure of our “authentic self” because we become stuck in “survival mode”.

I see individuals and couples 18+. My style both in session and in life is one of authenticity, humor, and empathetic directness. I believe in approaching one’s wounds and struggles with compassionate curiosity and remaining open to the idea that healing is a lifelong journey of evolving and getting connected with ourselves over and over as we navigate the many seasons of our lives. My work is grounded in Feminist and Attachment theory, and I believe that the power of a collaborative and client autonomy focused therapeutic relationship is the foundation upon which healing is facilitated.

You do not need a diagnosis of ADHD, anxiety or depression to benefit from therapy. Life can be hard enough without barriers at every turn. Constant challenges within a child’s education system, adolescents unhealthy social media habits, difficult relationships, and even from time to time conflict within the family can cause stress. Stress can explode in detrimental ways and times when not fully treated. Together, we can help break down life’s barriers so you and your child can achieve their full potential.

The funny thing about life's hurts, they generally do not just get better on their own. Running from a problem is a race we will never win. My goal is to create a warm safe and relaxed place for you to explore, to discuss, to learn and maybe laugh. The outcome is for you to feel empowered in your life and to have HOPE. Changing or healing often require learning new skills so my approach is as much about coaching as it is about counseling. My primary counseling modes are Cognitive Dissonance and Reframing and REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy). Together we create the tools for HOPE that are custom made for you.

For over twenty years I have been working within the field of Individual and Family Intervention. My education in Masters of Arts in Counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary which is now referred to as Missio Seminary has provided me with the ability to help so many. I am certified in child sexual abuse treatment through Widener University and Family Support Line. For the last 15 years I have been a member in good standing with AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). Biblically based counseling with the intention to glorify God while helping others to navigate through life's challenges has always been my priority.

Congratulations on taking the first step! It can be overwhelming to start something new, but remember that you have already made progress by acknowledging that you want to take action. My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and become aware of their inner strengths. As a therapist, it's essential to have a wide range of therapeutic tools and techniques to help clients navigate their challenges. Whether it's helping adolescents and teens manage stress and anxiety, assisting adults with depression or trauma, or supporting couples in strengthening their relationships, each client requires a customized approach.

Throughout my 10 years working in mental health, I have learned how important it is to our healing to be connected in heart and body. I believe building a better understanding of this mind-body connection and the impact it can have on both our physical and mental health is critical in symptom management, emotional regulation, stress management, overall health and wellness, and navigating our everyday life in this world.

I use a holistic approach to treatment emphasizing on rapport building. "There is a reason for all behavior and when it comes to people seeking true wellness, I don't want people to depend on medication." I enjoy helping people change and explore themselves. "The scarecrow, in the movie The Wiz, thought that he did not have a brain. He believed that he was just a sack of old newspapers; but, it took the experience of a "journey" to help him realize that he was not just a sack of newspapers but a wealth of information. "Lets find your wealth!"

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana, graduating in May of 2014. In the Fall of 2012, I received training as a victims’ advocate and crisis line operator at the Family Justice Center in South Bend. For the rest of my time as an undergraduate, I continued volunteering for the FJC, focusing on taking crisis calls, yet unaware of the skills I was building in attending to each caller’s concerns. I utilized my training again during grad school to volunteer for Crisis Text Line, where I honed my skills in crisis management and planning.
