My professional specialty lies at the intersection of grief, career, and mental health counseling. I welcome the opportunity to support clients facing challenges, decisions, or transitions that relate to any one of those areas, and thrive when working together to tackle more. Imagine a triangle with grief (coping with loss), career (exercising our strengths), and mental health (balance and contentment) concerns as its three points. I believe everyone has a triangle of different shapes and sizes with these same three points, and my counseling work strives to help clients reshape their triangles into the form that meets current needs.
My counseling is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a contemporary application of CBT. I have completed, and will continue, focused training in best practices for treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and motivation disorders. I often start with a detailed history, an exploration of values, and syncing client thought, sensation, and context.
I am deeply committed to the individual and their story, focusing on clients achieving their mental health and wellness goals. I am warm and engaging, but also unafraid to confront any client who is undermining their own growth and progress. I often serve as a voice of accountability, supporting clients as they work their personal plans for improvement.
