In a world that is becoming increasingly complicated every day, therapy is a safe space away from the pressures of daily life where you can explore your concerns without judgement. My aim as a therapist is to create an environment where I can support you in exploring what is bothering you and we can work as a team to find solutions that are tailored to your unique story and circumstances. I draw from a range of therapies but my main guiding principles come from a strengths-based perspective. I believe above all that YOU are the expert in your own life and that I am merely here to help you on your road to self-actualization.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with 10 years of experience providing counselling, training, and group therapy to a diverse adult population. During this time I have witnessed how difficult, and yet relieving, it can be to take those first steps to seek help. I've seen the self-doubt, suffering and pain that comes from unexpected and challenging situations life presents us. As your therapist I will provide a warm, authentic, and encouraging space to be curious about what is causing you to suffer and ways to help you live a more meaningful and rich life.

Kids do not come with a handbook to guide their parents through the challenges of growing up (at least I have not received my copy!). Our world seems more complex than when we were growing up. There is so much for kids (and their parents!) to navigate as their lives progress. I emphasize the role of relationships when working with children. As part of a larger family unit, children need their parents’ involvement and support through the therapeutic process. My goal is to support children (and their parents) adapt to change, seek stability, and build on their strengths and abilities to address their needs.

I have a passion for working with individuals living with long-term health difficulties or those affected by the health condition of a loved one. I welcome those who are working through the complexities of illness and recovery, identity and (dis)ability, and making meaning from the feeling of loss that can often accompany a change in our health and abilities. If you are seeking counseling support for issues related to COVID-19 or the world it created, please reach out. I am also a good fit for anyone living with depression, anxiety, struggles with relationships, major life transitions, or challenges with addictions.

Counselling supports clients understanding themselves and their relationships. It's an important step. An unbiased and open listener helps to create a better understanding of oneself and the dilemma one faces. Couples counselling supports an understanding concerning values, beliefs and emotions moving toward mutual support of necessary attachment needs and hopes.

Do you know the feeling where you just don't know what to do or say? Maybe it is your child grappling with someone bullying them at school. Maybe you and your partner are feeling totally unsure how to be the parents and partners you both want to be. Maybe something tragic and life changing has happened and things are indescribably different - in ways you never wanted. Maybe you are seeing your teen shrink away from life in ways that seem totally out of character. Somehow your own life - your own family, your own children, your own choices - can feel like a mystery.

Everyone is unique and encounters different life experiences. Some of these experiences change the ways we think, feel, and act. Children and youth might begin to say negative things about themselves, start to struggle with school performance and peer relationships, react easily and in ways that seem bigger than the situation, and experience physical changes like headaches or stomach aches. Another component of these changes involves looking at how adults are processing their responses to them. It is important for adults to know that supporting a child or youth, in addition to themselves, is not something they have to face alone.

Welcome! I have been practicing for over twenty years and feel privileged to work with my clients on improving wellbeing and reducing symptoms (anxiety, negative self-talk, depression, relational issues, impact of trauma). I utilize a collaborative, strengths-based, relational, neuropsychological approach. For example, the majority of us experience anxiety but we can train our brains to work for us (rather than against us). Once you become aware of how your experiences have influenced you, you can make significant, positive changes. I have training in individual, couple, and family therapy as well as trauma-focused therapy.

Do you ever wonder why you struggle to feel happy? Or notice feelings of resentment? Do you feel overwhelmed with roles, responsibilities, and a to-do list? And underwhelmed with life? You want to feel grateful for what you have. You want to make yourself a priority, but somehow, what you want doesn't seem to matter. You are not alone. Managing self-care, the dynamics of relationships, parenting, and a professional life can easily feel out of balance. Add medical stress, a child with special needs, co-parenting challenges, and/or workplace stress. Perhaps you notice anxiety, fear, or repetitive patterns that you long to change.

Empathy, compassion, and curiosity are the cornerstones of my approach. I work with adults whose lives and well-being have been impacted by their lived experiences, and who are looking to make sense of those experiences. If you’re struggling with your mental health, or feeling overwhelmed by the things that have happened to you, I can help you to sort through your thoughts and feelings. Together we can work to re-imagine your life stories, and tap into the wisdom and skills you possess.
