Do you want to feel better about yourself and your life? Are your frustrated with how you show up in relationships, work, life balance? Have you tried other therapy before, and you are still here, looking for a life that you love? Knowing something will make little difference when our bodies are convinced otherwise. This is why I primarily work somatically. When you have a new experience of yourself, in your body, in a way you may not have known was possible before, this will lead to lasting impact on how you function in this world.

Waitlist for new clients
I will help you access your body based intuition so that you can find answers that are right for you. Your inner somatic wisdom holds the answer to what you need to feel good. While our minds are busy trying to figure things out, our body's felt sense has a sense of what resonates. Art therapy uses colour and shape to express what words can’t convey. For over 20 years I have helped people heal from personal, intergenerational, and collective trauma, depression, and more. I am currently only accepting new Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Therapy clients and will be accepting new counselling clients in September. Email to waitlist.

Clients often come to me when they decide that survival is no longer enough. Whether it's past trauma, depression, anxiety, disconnection from self, lack of purpose, or lack of hope (etc). As humans, we all carry rocks in our proverbial backpacks. I am awestruck by the human capacity to survive and endure. But sometimes the weight that holds us down becomes so familiar that it is almost comforting. If you are reading this, you have found the courage to ask the question, "What if I allow myself to believe that I deserve better?" I love nothing more than helping clients explore what that might look like, and how to get there.

Whether you're dealing with past trauma, difficult family dynamics, or are stuck in frustrating patterns, feelings of disconnection and anxiety can easily become your day-to-day. In a world that can be challenging to navigate at the best of times, the struggles we face can sometimes feel insurmountable. It is my belief that we all need support and connection in order to process our experiences and to feel safe and secure in our own skin. With the tools somatic therapy brings we can support the body to complete it’s natural healing processes, helping us find the freedom to live our lives to the fullest.

My hope is that the work of counselling can be a transformative, comforting, and challenging spot to land during difficult circumstances. I have enjoyed the collaborative moments of insight into ongoing painful circumstances and sharing a laugh despite mountainous difficulties. For over twenty years in various capacities, being able to share in life’s joys and heartaches has been a great privilege.

To all appearances you’ve got a great life. You’re smart, driven, & successful. But privately, you sometimes struggle with negative thoughts you have about who you are, what you are worth, and what you've done with your life. These stubborn thoughts and beliefs affect every aspect of your life: your health, your school, your career, your relationships, and your self-esteem. You try to keep them at bay but you're exhausted from the effort and you want to break free of them and live again. You want to feel seen, supported & understood by someone you can trust. You're ready for something new.

Your body and mind communicate clearly when something has been overwhelming. So many experiences can knock you off kilter and make it hard to feel your genuine self. You have likely landed here because your symptoms have become intrusive. Anxiety, panic attacks and anger are hard to ignore but what about the more subtle signs? Strained relationships, feeling numb, avoidance, disconnection and irritability also have a huge impact in your life.

As a parent, you are the one who knows your child best. If you are reading this, I trust that you have been doing your best all along--you are just temporarily lost about how to relate with or help your child. May be you have been observing one or more of these behaviours in your child: aggression, anger, lethargy, or anxiety. The list could go on. You have tried to seek advice from the teachers or other parents; you research parenting advice or strategies. Somehow, your child continues to struggle. You are exhausted from trying to cope and being supportive.

Therapy can be an opportunity to bring awareness to your unconscious patterns, to discover where you have choice and to connect to your authentic self. Therapy is one way you turn towards yourself, this can be challenging when we’ve spent a life time turning away. We need time, space, and guidance to transform ourselves and forge a new path.

Have you experienced a traumatic event which caused feelings of fear, helplessness or horror; do you find yourself reliving the event or avoiding reminders of the event? Are you easily startled? Do you find that talking about it hasn’t led to the results you're looking for, such as freedom from your symptoms? Are you feeling stuck? Do you find that you are still easily triggered and unable to gain control over your life? When talking isn’t enough, EMDR is often the answer! Treatment includes history taking, assessment, symptom reduction strategies, followed by processing the trauma, & re-evaluation to ensure trauma is cleared.

All grief is not the same. You might think that you cannot survive your traumatic loss and life will never seem right again. You might think that the pain you are in now will never end. You wonder how other people get through the day. My clients seek to make sense of what has happened in their lives, to be understood and have a place of safety to explore new ways of living. Having helped clients in many areas of counselling and psychotherapy and with most age groups over the past 20 years, my experience is broad and deep. This informs my current work with clients, who like you, are looking for hope that life can get better.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.
Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
