Deep Democracy

Deep Democracy is the civic engagement arm of the North Bay Organizing Project. It's the fundamental idea that we must forge deep relationships with our neighbors and community members, to identify what is at stake for us, and make sure we can stand up for our collective liberation.

We are here for the long run, to take back the power that rightfully belongs to us: communities of color, working people, single mothers, youth, and our elders – members of the new American majority.

Our Tools

We participate in door-to-door canvassing, candidate forums, community newspapers, and power analysis, to strengthen our narrative that connects civic engagement with the larger problems of structural racism, corporate control of our government and economy, and the erosion of the public sphere.

Together, we are committed to making sure every person in Sonoma County has the ability to shape decisions that impact their lives and participate fully in civic life.
