The species-richness within a family is highly correlated with both its prevalence (A) and the MRA across samples (B), shown here with Spearman’s correlation tests (two-sided P values). MRAs are correspondingly correlated with prevalence as already shown in Fig. 3. The correlation between all three measures is in line with predictions made by the neutral community model.
