He’s 11 weeks old and currently I don’t have a reliable thermometer.

Preferably from Amazon.

Thanks in advance.

We can see this thread is a little old now and some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best baby thermometer page with lots of great options, (many of which are available on Amazon) as recommended by parents – we hope you find it useful. I’m also wondering this too!
I have one that came in a tommee yippee set but I can’t keep it in my little ones mouth long enough to get an accurate reading.
I seem to remember when I was little a black strip that was placed on my forehead, are these still made?! I’m after something easy that I’m not going to have to wrestle my toddler!

I’ve tried it under his arm but he’s such a wriggler! Then he gets annoyed when I try to stop him from lifting his arm up this dropping the thermometer!

Looking on amazon at the forehead thermometers and there’s so much choice! Difficult to whittle it down, the ones that don’t even touch baby look like the easiest ones.

Braun age precision stick is good. We've tried a fair few and this one is the best and most reliable we've found. You pick the age group and it's colour coded. We got it on Amazon x

Braun ones are good. They are easy to use, go in the ear and mine was about £30 for a fairly new version.

I found the forehead ones that don't touch a good idea in theory, but if you have awful distance judgement like me totally pointless as I ended up getting a ruler out to measure the 5cm away from forehead and prodding it into kids head

I’ve just been looking at Braun but read quite a few bad reviews.
Looking at non branded ones on amazon but a lot of the ‘amazing’ reviews look fake.

In ear, the infrared i’ve found to be unreliable, bought one and returned it as it read anything between 33C and 39C. Have a tommy tippee in ear which seems accurate.

I have the older version of this www.amazon.co.uk/Braun-IRT6020-ThermoScan-Ear-Thermometer/dp/B00M35Y2MC/ref=dp_ob_title_hpc?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

It's the same one they use at my doctors. Before buying it I wasted a lot of money on other inner ear ones, no touch forehead ones, under arm etc, all rubbish.

I've never done a link on MN before so if it doesn't work then search Braun inner ear thermometer, its about £40 on amazon.

We have just bought a no contact forehead one from the Aldi special buy baby deals that are currently on £9.99. I couldn’t bring myself to pay £40+ for one!

Thank you for the Braun link. Good to know that your gp uses it.
Can anyone advise please on what is best to measure, ear temp or forehead temp please?

I have this one, it's great. Works even when baby is squirming Grin https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DC4W4KC/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_sLMoCb987ZWZW

Underarm for the first four weeks but after that time the ear is supposed to be most accurate.

Report
babysharkah · 12/01/2019 23:12

In the ear is most accurate.

Defiantly in ear one. Also gets them used to it for when they go to the GP / hospital etc as that's what they use. Ours is a Braun and is great

I have the same as TwinkleMerrick it is an ear one and forehead combined. It’s been working well for the past year (even with me completely overusing it for the first 12 weeks of DS life Grin)
