What was the best present your child got for their first birthday?

So there is a small person in the family turning 1 very soon and I need your help with awesome present ideas.

I ideally want a gift which will last a while rather than be a 5 minute novelty. They don't have much outdoor space so nothing like a playhouse would work.

Child doesn't really have any interests and the present could be open ended and wooden or plastic as there is no real preference, they have and play with both types of toys. Budget is not an issue.

What super awesome gifts did your 1 year old get that made a lasting impression? Ideas would be super appreciated, thanks in advance. Smile

Battat big red barn animal farm from Amazon. She loves it. Just had to google and it says 18 months but Dd is a child who puts things in her mouth and animals are chunky.

Touch and feel books.

These are the most used.

A box of wooden blocks, nothing fancy but he has played with them every single day since.

A wooden ride on identical to this but without the trailer. She's 12 now and until recently it was in her bedroom and she still sat on it. I've put it in the loft for the grandchildren because both my girls loved it so much.

A wooden play kitchen. She’s only just grown out of playing with it at 5 years old but it’s still the main thing her friends all play with when they visit for play dates.

Definitely the wooden blocks. 10 years on they still occasionally get dragged out of the toy cupboard!

DS1 got a Little Tykes car (the red one with yellow roof). It got handed down to DS2 and they are currently messing around with it in the garden (DS1 is now 7!).

Playmobil 123 Noahs Arc.

My ds starting playing with one of these at playgroup & absolutely LOVED it!

We bought one for Christmas so he would have been 18 months.

He's nearly 8 & has now got loads of Playmobil animals, the more grown up noahs arc, farm, zoo, dinosaurs etc & still plays with them daily.

The playmobil 123 range is really good!

Weirdly a playmobil caravan, we thought it was a mad gift and hid away all the little bits but she loved her 'candy van' and still loves it now at 5yrs old, she has all the little bits now too.

Little tikes slide was a hit here-can play with it inside as well as outside and was still used years later as a slide into the paddling pool.

Membership for me for the local zoo which meant he had somewhere to toddle when he started walking and it was nice to go somewhere different and as he aged he loved the animals especially the penguins

It was a set of nesting boxes made out of cardboard. Pic attached I think. She used them until they literally fell apart. Loved them.
