Clotted I bought that one too. I find it takes a while to get to a decent temp so I switch it on at least 10 minutes beforehand. Plus I leave it doing it's thing for a good while too (well except when making jam and marshmallow toasties for the kids and me.)

Basically you can make lovely pancakes in sandwich toaster. Just regular batter mix and bung in a spoonful, if you make with American batter you get puffy ones.

Omelets couple of eggs, wisk up, fry anything in in sandwich toaster first (onion/bacon) then add egg + cheese + anything else.

Fried eggs crack egg in. Don’t use large ones though.

Haven’t tried yet but you can cook cake brownies in it too, basically like the cake pop machines you can buy.

Sneaky - I am not putting anything yet as I don't have one, had a couple of normal ones but gave the last one away as I got tired of the fillings leaking out, hence looking for a deep one.

I would like one that I can use for other things too, removable plates, but no idea where to start.

Does that Breville one actually hold 2 pieces of bread side by side? My normal 2 sandwich maker only really makes one at a time, otherwise a good 2" of bread hangs out each side. sadface

My parents had an amzing Breville one back in the 80's. It was orange and the pockets were deep enough to crack an egg in (if you pushed the bread in a bit) and have an egg toastie. Was delish with plenty of s&p mmmm.

That Diabolo one is so cute, however if I got one I may as well continue with making them in a frying pan on the hob, which I am aware is known as a fried cheese sandwich.
