Mokee Mini Cot Bed review: the sustainable space-saver which is undeniably chic

With all the compactness of a cot but the added bonuses of a cot bed, the Mokee Mini Cot Bed is beloved by Mumsnetters - and for good reason. We put it to the test with the help of parent-tester Zanna and her baby daughter over a period of over five months.

Our rating:
What we like
  • The size of a cot but all the perks of a cot bed

  • Easy to put together

  • Beautiful design

  • Range of four colours to choose from

What we don't like
  • Quite pricey for a cot bed - our tester got hers secondhand and said she probably wouldn't have paid the full RRP (£224 at time of writing) for it

  • Only one side panel comes off when converted to a toddler bed, which doesn't feel quite as 'grown up' as cot beds which fully convert

How we tested the Mokee Mini Cot Bed

Mum-of-one Zanna put the Mokee Mini Cot Bed through its paces over a period of five months. She first purchased the Mokee secondhand when her daughter was seven months old and had outgrown her newborn crib. Since then the Mokee has been in constant use for overnight sleep and daytime naps.

How is the Mokee Mini Cot Bed to assemble?

The Mokee Mini comes with an instruction manual (which you can also download here) which shows a series of comprehensive diagram instructions.

It was really easy to put up and all you need to do to convert it to a cot bed is take off one of the sides. I love the simplicity of it.

How big is the Mokee Mini Cot Bed?

The Mokee Mini measures W64cm x L124cm x H84cm when assembled. There are seven mattress base positions: 19.7cm, 32.5cm, 35.5cm, 42.1cm, 45.3cm and 48.5cm. It requires a cot mattress measuring 120cm x 60cm which is a standard size for a cot (cot bed mattresses tend to measure only slightly bigger at 140cm x 70cm).

It also fits a variety of drawers, changing mats and mobiles as well as Snoozeshade covers as pictured below ('We don't have black-out blinds so the Snoozeshade is a lifesaver!')

The cot is really compact when it's up, which is ideal for smaller areas. It's also nice and light, I've moved it easily from one room to another by myself.

What makes the Mokee Mini Cot Bed a space-saver?

Aside from the compact size, the Mokee Mini is a good option for smaller spaces as even when the mattress base is at its lowest, there's plenty of room underneath for storage. You can also purchase a matching drawer ('great for extra bedding!')

Mokee Mini Cot Bed

t's a great cot for the price, it's got plenty of room and yet it's compact in her nursery compared to lots of other bulky cots we looked at. I put it up myself at 39 weeks and massive, it was dead easy.

Mokee Mini Cot Bed

We had a Mokee cot for [our daughter], looked really nice in her nursery and was good value for money. Just given it to my sister for her [son] when he outgrows his crib. The changing mat that goes on top is brilliant too, the sides are nice and high so they can’t roll off!

The Mokee Mini Cot Bed: Overall verdict

If you're shopping for a cot which converts easily into a cot bed but doesn't take up quite so much space as your average toddler bed, the Mokee Mini is a great choice. It's compact without feeling like it'll only last your baby a few months, it's made from sustainable wood and it looks beautiful. The only downsides really are that the age range isn't quite as expansive as the likes of other cot beds such as the Tutti Bambini Rio or the Boori Alice, and it's not the cheapest at over £200. But for many a Mumsnetter, its many features and overall look make it well-worth every penny.

Very good quality cot and my little one transitioned nicely from his next to me crib. I would really recommend.
