Our verdict on the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine

  • Ease of use: 4/5

  • Ease of cleaning: 4/5

  • Features: 5/5

  • Results: 5/5

  • Design: 4/5

  • Value for money: 4/5

The WiFi-enabled Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro is a time-saving integrated washing machine that most families will like.

With four rapid wash programmes, a 1600 maximum spin speed for reducing drying time and a large 9kg capacity, it’s both high performing and efficient for larger households.

Our tester Rachel says, “I chose this washing machine for a combination of reasons. Fast spin speed, large kg capacity, good brand AND I could buy and collect the same day. For all the factors I wanted, this was more or less the best value [washing machine I could find].”

While the spin is louder than we would like despite the noise-reducing inverter motor, this integrated washing machine cleans everything from clothes to bedding exceptionally well. It’s a decent price for an app-compatible washing machine too.

How we tested the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine

  • 5 months of use

  • Used six times a week on average

  • Tested in a four-person household

Mumsnetter and tester Rachel has used and owned the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro washing machine now for five months. As a family of four with two children, Rachel has been able to put the washing machine to the test around six times a week on average.

During testing, she scored the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro on a number of different criteria to get an accurate and honest overview of how it performs day to day over a long period of time. These criteria included: ease of use, ease of cleaning, features and programme length, results, overall design, noisiness, energy usage and value for money.

Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine: how does it look?

Rachel says, “[The Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro] is integrated so it fits my décor perfectly. It had to be integrated as my previous washer was so the aesthetics are really in the kitchen itself!”

The LED touchscreen is the central point of the washing machine’s control panel, with a spin dial to the right and laundry detergent drawer to the left. While the screen can initially look quite intimidating, it’s both easy to use and navigate, and the spin dial clearly displays the 15 different wash programmes.

An integrated washing machine like the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro is narrower so that it fits within a kitchen cupboard unit, which is the main benefit over a freestanding washing machine. Hoover advises that you add 3cm onto the depth when measuring your cupboard so that there’s enough space for the pipes when installing the H-Wash 300 Pro.

While colour will be less of an issue as the integrated washing machine is nicely hidden from view, the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro is available in either white or black.

Hoover H-Wash 300 washing machine installation

How easy is the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine to set up and use?

It generally takes longer to install an integrated washing machine than a freestanding one as the cupboard door needs to fit perfectly on the machine, and it will usually require a professional.

However Rachel says, “My partner installed [the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro] and, as is normal with these sorts of jobs, it took longer than anticipated. Overall, he found it OK to install, but it took a couple of hours.”

She adds, “I initially found it hard to use as I wasn't used to a touchscreen washing machine. I still need to learn more about the different cycles.”

This integrated washing machine can also be used with the Hoover Wizard app, which is easy to install and set up on either an Android or iOS mobile device or control via Alexa or Google Assist. It can be used to remotely control and operate your machine, download extra cycles and run diagnostic checks.

How well does the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine clean and spin?

The Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine benefits from 15 different wash cycles, including All in One 59, 20, Allergy Care, Eco 40-60, Rapid, Soft Care, and Wool & Handwash, as well as a Steam programme.

The All in One cycle allows you to mix lights and darks so that you don’t have to separate them pre-wash, and you can choose to run the cycle on either a 20 degree, 60 degree or speedy 50-minute wash.

Our tester, Rachel, loves the Rapid cycles in particular as they allow her to drastically reduce washing and spin time for small loads (1.5kg for 14 minutes) or any items that need to be washed last minute such as school uniform or PE kit.

She says, “My favourite features are 1600 spin and 14 minute or 30 minute washes! I use these most of the time for speed and efficiency and they hopefully help in reducing [energy] bills too.”

She continues, “I find it cleans far better than my last machine even on the shortest wash. I pre-treat really tough stains beforehand as this is what I have always done, but I find it cleans all items well. The fast spin is AMAZING, especially with the current [cold] weather. It is a complete blessing.”

The maximum 1600rpm spin speed is more than you'll find on most 9kg washing machines (you’ll usually find the spin speed capped at 1400rpm), so the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro is ideal for reducing drying time, particularly during the winter months.

Other useful programmes include the Steam cycle (which reduces both bad smells and wrinkles without the need for a full wash), Easy Iron (which reduces creases) and Allergy Care, which helps to get rid of allergens and bacteria - ideal if you have allergy or eczema sufferers in your household.

The machine also boasts a KG mode, which weighs your load during the first four minutes of a cycle to automatically calculate how much time and water is needed for the most efficient wash.

There’s a 24-hour start delay so that you can start a cycle whenever you want to, including in the middle of the night when energy costs are cheaper. You can also pause the machine midway through a cycle if you’ve forgotten items such as a sock or pair of underwear.

Is it energy-efficient?

The Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro has an ‘A’ energy rating so is one of the most energy-efficient washing machines you can buy, using just 0.49kWh of energy per cycle.

It has an Eco wash programme that uses less water and energy to help you reduce your energy costs, and it uses just 46 litres of water per cycle - that’s less than many other 9kg washing machines, such as the Samsung Series 5+ WW90T554DAN/S1 with AddWash™.

Is it noisy?

This washing machine benefits from an inverter motor, which helps to reduce noise and vibrations.

While it’s generally quiet, with a decibel reading of 76db, Rachel says, “The machine is loud during a fast spin. It doesn't last too long so it’s not too bad. It spins so fast the vibrations affect the integrated door which compounds the noise. You could still receive a phone call though I probably would leave the room.”

Hoover H-Wash 300 detergent drawer

Is the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine easy to clean?

Hoover recommends that you do an empty wash cycle at 90 degrees at least once a month to ensure the drum stays clean as well as a regular filter clean with hot water. You can also use a washing machine cleaner every few months to prevent dirt, detergent residue and limescale build-up.

You’ll need to clean the detergent drawer regularly with a microfibre cloth. Rachel says, “I am wiping [my Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro] after every use to try to prevent build-up.”

Is the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro integrated washing machine good value for money?

Retailing at £529, the Hoover H-Wash 300 Pro costs more than the average integrated washing machine. However, its exceptional performance, energy-efficiency and excellent features, including app compatibility makes it great value for money for larger families.

It has a similar spec to other Hoover washing machines like the Hoover H-Wash 500, but the benefit of this integrated machine is its unobtrusiveness, which is something that sets the H-Wash 300 Pro apart from its freestanding counterparts. That said, it could be quieter, which is really the only thing that lets it down.

Mumsnetter and tester Rachel says, “I would obviously have liked it a bit cheaper but, overall, I am very happy with [this washing machine].”
