How we tested the Elodie changing bag

Mum-of-two Bethan used the Elodie as her main nappy bag for a testing period of over a month. During this time she used it day to day to store all her and her children's essentials whilst out and about.

The Elodie changing bag was a lot larger than I expected it to be. It's a very nice design.

What is included with the Elodie changing bag?

The Elodie changing bag comes with a small changing mat, which Bethan said "in an emergency would be OK," adding: "I prefer to use one I already have. However it did come in handy as an impromptu picnic mat for my daughter on one trip out!"

The bag also comes with two handlebar attachments to fasten to a buggy, but Bethan had limited success using these.

How big is the Elodie changing bag?

Measuring 41 x 36 x 16cm, the Elodie changing bag is definitely on the larger side, which has its pros and its cons.

Elodie Changing Bag

This bag is huge! It has a few compartments on the sides where I put my keys, but items in the actual bag can get a bit lost in its vastness! However, the size of it means I can use it as an overnight bag or a travel on-flight bag in the future!

How easy is it to carry around?

"It's a large tote bag and it has large straps which fit onto the shoulder well. It also has a strap to fit it onto the buggy."

How well does it fit onto a pram or buggy?

"I found the velcro on the straps provided weren't very strong so I use my own clip onto the pram."

Is it waterproof?

Bethan said that the Elodie repelled water pretty well when taken out and about in light rain. The manufacturer does recommend that the bag is weather-proofed every now and again if regularly used outdoors, "using an impregnation method suited to the fabric."

What are the stand-out features about the bag?

The overall look of the bag - thanks to Elodie's team-up with designer William Morris of Morris & Co - is one of its stand out features. For Bethan, the look of the bag was definitely a deciding factor.

It doesnt look like a changing bag which is why I was drawn to it initially. The size is my favourite thing about it. It's a bag for mini bags to fit inside, i.e. nappies, spare clothes, lunch bag, bottles.

Overall rating

While Bethan liked the fact that the Elodie changing bag doesn't look like the typical changing bag and therefore scores points for longevity, she felt that it was a little pricey for its overall effectiveness as a changing bag.

Finally, we asked Bethan to score the Elodie Changing Bag for the following factors out of five:

Practicality:
Look:
Size:
Ease of use:
Longevity:
