Cosatto Supa Dupa review

Best Statement Double Buggy

Cosatto is famous for its bright colours and bold patterns, and the Supa Dupa certainly fits that brief.

We tested the Supa Dupa in the multicoloured Spectroluxe design, but this fun, eye-catching double buggy also comes in five alternative designs, ranging from vibrant pink flamingos to happy stars.

The Supa Dupa is a lightweight (for a double) umbrella-fold stroller that is suitable from birth. The seats are fully reclinable, and easily adjusted with one hand. It’s worth noting, however, that as a stroller, the this may not be the smoothest ride available for an infant, and seats are also forward-facing only, which some new parents many not like. That being said, there is a handy ‘peek-a-boo’ window in the hood, meaning parents can check on their sleeping babes as they stroll.

British-based Cosatto has thought of everything to help you battle the ever-changeable British weather. In the box you’ll get two extended UPF50+ sunshades and two ‘cosy-toes’ foot muffs. But the hoods aren’t just for providing shade – they come with a built-in speaker and gadget display pockets, preventing the toddlers’ iPads (because let’s face it, they all have them) from getting soaked on rainy days. Genius.

One of the Supa Dupa's biggest successes is its easy umbrella fold, and its ability to stand independently. It’s also lightweight (just 14kg) and convenient: many twin buggies can feel cumbersome to push, but Cosatto has included the standard two handles on either side and a middle handle for comfortable one-handed steering – something not easily mastered with a double stroller option, or even with many single strollers.

Folding the pram is very simple and can be done one-handed: just a pull of a lever and a push with your foot and it's done. I've had lots of double prams but this is a great all-rounder and I'd recommend it.

But, as with most side-by-side double buggies, the Supa Dupa was too wide to pass easily through the aisle of some buses, though it was generally fine for shops. And while it does claim to last to age four, our tester’s almost-three-year-old twins didn’t have much growing room left in the Supa Dupa seat, and no longer fit in the ‘cosy toes’ footmuffs, meaning it may not be an ideal solution if you’re expecting your second child and have a three year old who just needs somewhere to rest every now and again.

Overall, the Supa Dupa is not as sturdy as some of the higher-end double buggy options on the market, and if you’re looking for an all-in-one travel system that will last the duration of multiple children’s early years, this might not be the best option for you. But, the Supa Dupa stands out from the crowd as the the quintessentially 'cool' stroller in regards to design, quirky modern lifestyle features, weight and convenience. And, at just £285, it’s also one of the cheapest double buggy options we tested, meaning that for families on a budget, it will do exactly the job they need it to.
