Best Eurocamp Netherlands

Combining the charm of outdoor adventures with the comforts of home, Eurocamp holidays offer a winning combo for families, and sites in the Netherlands are a big hit with Mumsnetters.

Eurocamp sites are equipped with fantastic facilities like impressive pools, kids’ clubs and restaurants and offer an array of family-friendly activities. And you can choose to stay in holiday homes or pre-erected safari-style tents depending on your family size and budget.

One of the many advantages of a Eurocamp break in the Netherlands is that lots of the sites are really easy to access from the UK, whether you’re taking a ferry or flying into Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Eindhoven. Several are conveniently located close to public transport links, making them an excellent option for families looking for a car-free holiday. And the Netherlands' compact size means that you can easily explore its best bits, from Amsterdam’s historic canals to the thrills and spills of Efteling. Each Eurocamp site serves as a great base to experience Dutch life and culture without straining your budget.

The following sites come highly recommended by Mumsnetters on our camping and holiday forums and are based on real family experiences from kids and adults that have visited each one.

"Duinrell is a Mumsnet favourite. I have friends who go there every year. It's close to a lovely sandy beach, not too far from Amsterdam and has a good pool complex and small theme park adjacent to it, which when we went, we had free access to (used to go first thing and later to avoid the crowds)."

Tested by MNHQ: Read our full review of Eurocamp Duinrell

Duinrell is incredibly popular with Mumsnetters and it pops up time and again on the forums as one of the best Eurocamp sites in the Netherlands. It has its very own theme park on site and is home to one of the best water parks in northern Europe. The Tiki Pool complex has 21 waterslides, including the Pelikaanduik which ends with you splashing into the pool like a pelican dives into the sea.

The site also features a choice of restaurants, a bar, and a supermarket, as well as a range of amenities including padel tennis courts, football pitches, crazy golf, trampolining, and some brilliant children's playgrounds.

With so much on offer you might not want to leave the site, but if you do then Amsterdam is just a 40-minute drive away, or you can hire bikes and explore the nearby beach and the local town of Wassenaar, with its pretty houses and boutiques.

It's also really easy to get to from the UK - just a 30-minute drive from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and less than an hour's drive from the Hook of Holland for ferry crossings.

Do Eurocamps in the Netherlands have WiFi?

Eurocamps in the Netherlands do have WiFi, but check the site you intend to visit for specifics. It might only be available in certain parts of the park and charges may apply.

Can you take dogs to Eurocamps in the Netherlands?

A lot of the Eurocamps in the Netherlands do allow dogs, but some ask for them to be kept on leads and a handful don’t allow them at all. It’s best to check the individual site you’re interested in to find out what they do and don’t allow.

What’s included in the price of a Eurocamp stay?

A Eurocamp stay includes your accommodation, access to kids’ clubs, and use of on-site facilities such as swimming pools, activities, and entertainment. Meals aren't included, so you'll need to prepare your own food or dine at the on-site restaurants. Duvets and pillows are typically provided, but you will need to bring your own linens or reserve them in advance of your trip.

What’s the best Eurocamp site in the Netherlands?

We think the best Eurocamp site in the Netherlands is Duinrell, and lots of Mumsnetters agree. It has one of the best water parks in northern Europe on site, as well as a free theme park with over 40 rides and attractions. And with Amsterdam just a 40-minute drive away it’s also a great base from which to explore more of the Netherlands.

How we chose our recommendations

Because we know that there's nothing like a real recommendation from a fellow parent, we first headed to the Mumsnet forums to find out which Eurocamp sites were being recommended for families.

We then did some research looking at which Eurocamp destinations had won accolades and what customer reviews said about them. We looked at on-site amenities, accommodation options and location. Having collated all that information, we then narrowed our list down to the best Eurocamp sites for families.
