Erling Haaland has claimed the Golden Boot for the second straight year after another prolific season with Manchester City.

The Norwegian wasn't able to replicate the highs of his record-breaking debut season in the Premier League but he still ended up with 27 goals to his name. Haaland has, once again, been City's main source of goals as he continues to become one of Europe's finest marksmen.

Haaland added another two hat-tricks to his name, the latest coming as part of a four-goal haul against Wolves at the Etihad. He missed six games across the season through injury and was left on the bench for the win over Aston Villa several months ago.

The City star can now further etch his name into Premier League history by winning three straight Golden Boots. Alan Shearer was the first man to do so, beginning in 1995, whilst Thierry Henry landed his own hat-trick by topping the scoring charts from 2004 to 2006. Haaland has the chance to replicate their achievements next term.

He began the season with a bang, scoring eight times in six games, which included a treble against Fulham. He did though endure a two-month period across February and March whereby he only scored four times in nine outings, with Pep Guardiola having to defend his forward after he failed to score in crucial games against Liverpool and Arsenal.

"He's the best striker in the world," said the Catalan. "He helped us win last season and the reason why we didn't create many answers from Erling is we need more presence in the final third with more people."

The stats show that, despite criticism coming his way, Haaland has the best goal per 90-minute numbers in the league. There was a period where the likes of Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak were looking set to challenge the Norwegian for the Golden Boot before a purple patch to finish the season took him clear.

He scored a match-winning brace at Tottenham days before the final day which set City up to claim their fourth straight title. Haaland has been well supported by team-mate Phil Foden, who has enjoyed his most prolific season at the Etihad.

The Norwegian could yet add to his impressive campaign by adding an FA Cup with his side taking on Manchester United at Wembley next term. Across all competitions, Haaland has scored 38 times.
