If there’s one thing that means that autumn is well and truly here, it’s the return of Pumpkin Spice Lattes on the menus of our favourite coffee shops. The PSL trend has long been associated with the cosy season and has a loyal following - and now, your dog can get in on the fun too.

After selling out last year, Pooch and Mutt has brought back their highly popular Pumpkin Spice treats - and Mirror readers can bag an exclusive discount to try them out for less. The limited edition treats are perfect for enjoying after a walk through the fallen leaves at your favourite woodland spot, a trip to the pumpkin patch and even make the ultimate topper for your pet’s puppaccino.

Seeing as dog’s can’t have a PSL of their own since coffee is toxic to dogs, these healthy, probiotic meaty treats are a fantastic way to help you feel like your dog is getting into the seasonal spirit without adding anything harmful or unnecessary into their diet.

I bought these treats for my two Staffy crosses, Phoebe and Frank, last autumn and they absolutely loved them - I even made them a ‘pupkin spice latte’ with pumpkin puree and coconut milk, adding the Pooch and Mutt treats to some dairy-free whipped cream for a show-stopping, yet one-off, treat.

The limited edition treats usually cost £3.99, but with Mirror’s exclusive discount code SPICEY, shoppers can try them out for £3.20. The clover-shaped treats are hypoallergenic and puppy-friendly, suitable for all breeds from 12 weeks.

While it might seem like Pooch and Mutt are simply jumping on a ‘trendy’ flavour, let it be known that the ingredients actually offer some brilliant health benefits to your pet, too, with pumpkin promoting a healthy immune system and is great for digestion, while cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties. There are other pet brands who include pumpkin in their recipes, such as Lily’s Kitchen with their Protein Bites , and Plant and Paws carrot and pumpkin chews - but in appealing to coffee loving dog mums, I feel like Pooch and Mutt has really nailed it with this launch.

The treats also contain chicken, probiotics and collagen which can help improve skin and coat - much like it would in humans, too, which is why collagen based beauty products are so highly sought after.

Another reason these Pumpkin Spice bites may prove popular is because none other than Stacey Solomon is a fan of the brand, having recently become an ambassador. Her two adorable dogs Peanut and Teddy have become faces of the pet products after being ‘Pooch and Mutt superfans from day dot’.

Frank is also a Pooch and Mutt superfan

Other pet parents have loved these treats, giving them a near-perfect rating on the Pooch and Mutt website . One said: “My dogs love these and they smell amazing! Always handy to have pumpkin based products for any gut upset,” while another added: “Second time purchasing these, love the zip lock on the bags as it makes them really convenient to have in bags/pockets when out and about - and they don't stink like some dog treats.”

One customer rated them three stars as she found them a little big, commenting: “Big size but it makes them chew their only allowed two because their not 10kg but they love them,” That said, they’re a semi moist recipe which makes them quite easy to break if you have a smaller dog or just want to make the packet go a little bit further.

As with all Pooch and Mutt treats, the Pumpkin Spice bites have no added artificial flavours, colours or preservatives, with no grain, cereal, gluten, beef, soy, dairy and non-genetically modified produce, making them easier on the tummy too. My only issue with them? They always sell out so fast and I wish they’d be available all year. That said, it does seem to generate excitement because as a superfan myself, I’m signed up to their newsletter and immediately ordered a stash ready for the upcoming autumn season the second the email announced they were in stock.

If you want to bag some for your own doggo this autumn, I’d do it sooner rather than later because once they’re gone, they’re gone - but don’t forget to use the code SPICEY for 20% off.
