Co-op has announced major price cuts across its stores with up to 54 fruit and veg lines seeing prices slashed.

The price cuts will be available to the supermarket chain's "members". Like Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury's Nectar, member prices are lower for people signed up for the Co-op loyalty scheme. Co-op Membership costs £1 to sign up to and there are currently five million members. The price cuts will be rolled out across stores from this week and some of the cuts include:

  • Baby Potatoes with Seasoned Butter 360G – Member price: £1 - (normal price: £1.80)
  • Little Gem Lettuce 2(S) - Member price: 80p - (normal price: £1.20)
  • Irresistible Cherry Tomatoes 225G - Member price: £1.85 - (normal price: £2.25)
  • Plums Punnet - Member price: £1.35 - (normal price: £1.65)
  • Jersey Royal potatoes 750g – Member price: £1.60 - (normal price: £2)
  • Pink Lady Apples (4s) - Member price: £2.25 - (normal price: £2.55)

According to Co-op signing up to their loyalty scheme could give shoppers access to reductions across fresh produce of up to 44% compared to former standard retail prices, and savings on average of nearly 20%. However, just because something is lower in price for members, doesn't mean you can't get it cheaper still elsewhere. Always compare prices online using a shopping tool like Trolley.co.uk.

Price cuts will also be seen across the Co-op's "Fresh 3" promotional offer which will be making a return to stores from June 19. This deal slashes the prices of three seasonal fruit and vegetable products with the new member prices set to cut them further. The supermarket chain says it wants it's Fresh 2 deal to be the "cornerstone" of its membership scheme.

From June 19, the Fresh 3 promotion will offer members further savings as it becomes a cornerstone of the retailer’s member promotional offer- increasing value for Co-op members as the retailer targets membership growth to 8million by 2030.

Rosie Bramley, Commercial Buying Manager, Co-op, said: “We know that quality, freshness and price are key when it comes to fruit and veg, and we are committed to creating ongoing and additional value for our member-owners. Our price investment is focused on great quality home-grown seasonal produce and further underpins Co-op’s commitment to backing British farmers and growers, while helping our members to make healthy choices, conveniently.”
