Ezra Miller has announced they are seeking treatment for their mental health in a bid to counter a self-described "time of intense crisis".

The Flash star, 29, released a statement on their next steps a week after being charged with burglary by Vermont officials. The Justice League alum apologised for their behaviour and announced their treatment was already underway.

The statement released to Variety by the actor's representative on Monday read: "Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.

"I want to apologise to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life."

The move comes after months of those closest to the star trying to encourage them to get help. The DC actor was charged last week for an alleged break-in which took place in Vermont in May in which bottles of alcohol were stolen from an unoccupied property.

TMZ reported that Ezra was investigated after the homeowners made a complaint that several bottles of booze were missing from the property after they returned from a trip out. The publication says that the star has since been charged with felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling.

The latest charge comes at a time the actor had been lying low, but has now reportedly been ordered to appear for their arraignment in court late next month.

It's the latest in a line of legal issues faced by Ezra this year. In March footage from a police bodycam showed them being aggressive towards officers while involved in an altercation. Rolling Stone also reported in June how the Fantastic Beasts star had a mum and her three children living on their farm where firearms were said to be left lying around.

It's reported a one-year-old child put a loose bullet in her mouth at the property, which is allegedly an unlicensed cannabis farm.

While some had questioned whether Ezra would continue to be in the DC movies following the string of offences, it's thought that they are being supported by Warner Bros.
