On June 12, 2024, a detachment of Russian warships arrived in Cuba and entered Havana’s seaport. The detachment consisted of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, the nuclear submarine Kazan, the tanker ship Akademik Pashin, and the rescue tug Nikolay Chiker. According to a report by Russia's Ministry of Defense, before entering the port, Admiral Gorshkov and Kazan – which carry weapons such as the Zircon hypersonic missile, the Kalibr cruise missile, and the Oniks anti-ship missile – held exercises simulating the use of high-precision missiles against targets over 370 miles away. The Russian warships left Cuba on June 17. The video of the ships in Havana was posted by Russia's Ministry of Defense to its Telegram channel.
