Back when Madame Web was released by Sony, actress Dakota Johnson made some statements against the film's box office performance. She claimed she wasn't surprised the movie flopped because she understood this was an industry product rather than an artistic one. This may be construed as a direct hit at all the super hero genre that goes out of its way to tell stories while spending hundreds of millions per project. Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe was already part of a film of this magnitude that also didn't do great, especially with critics. But Crowe rpefers staying quiet despite the results of the movies where he appears. For him, it's just great he has a job and he can continue earning from this wonderful craft.

Russell Crowe's statements against Dakota Johnson

During a recent video for GQ, Russell Crowe defended Marvel from the comments made by Dakota Johnson when her own movie flopped. Although it may be true the film was nowhere near her control, Russell Crowe believes in just sticking to his role as an actor when he gets parts to play. His role as Zeus in Thor: Love & Thunder was regarded as a nice comedic moment in a fiom that wasn't that great from the trilogy. But also, Madame Web is nowhere near the source material as a Hollywood production. That is probably the reason Dakota Johnson made those statemetns. It just made no sense for her to be part of a film so separated from the actual comics.

This is what Crowe said: "You're telling me you signed up for a Marvel movie, and some f-king universe for cartoon characters ... and you didn't get enough pathos? Not quite sure how I can make this better for you. It's a gigantic machine, and they make movies at a certain size. These are jobs. You know: here's your role, play the role. If you're expecting this to be some kind of life-changing event, I just think you're here for the wrong reasons. But for anything to be ... and you can't make this a direct comment on her because I don't know her and I don't know what she went through, and the fact that you can have a s-t experience on a film ... Yeah, you can. But is that the Marvel process? I'm not sure you can say that. I haven't had a bad experience."
