  • Reflecting on our recent visit to The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) in Bangalore, the Bayer LifeHub Bangalore team was privileged to engage with Dr. Neelanjana Janardan and Dr. Jameel Khan, PhD, whose comprehensive overview of C-CAMP's activities left an indelible impression on us. This esteemed establishment, supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India, deeply inspires us with its focus on bioscience research, entrepreneurship, and innovative early-stage funding initiatives. Our discussions on Agri-entrepreneurship, along with the identification and nurturing of Agri startups, shed light on the remarkable work being undertaken in this sector. The evident entrepreneur-friendly culture and support for early-stage funding at C-CAMP are truly remarkable.   During our visit, we also took the opportunity to highlight the pursuit of innovation at LifeHub Bangalore, emphasizing our engagement with the vibrant startup ecosystem. We are truly grateful to Dr. Neelanjana and Dr. Jameel for granting us the valuable opportunity to explore the innovative startups working on Agri and Biotech solutions. We eagerly look forward to potential collaborations and are excited about the meaningful possibilities that lie ahead. #teamBayer #LifeHubBangalore #Innovation #Collaboration

  • 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗴? 𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁! 👩 No one player can transform agriculture 🌽 No single organisation can transform agriculture 🚜 No single company transform agriculture If we are to make agriculture sustainable, ensure farmer's livelihoods, global food security and restore our environment then collaboration is the king and queen 👑 #regenerativeagriculture But collaboration is not a given: building ecosystems, supporting partnerships and co-creating solutions across industries, with start-ups, with farmers, with innovation networks (and more) takes time. But it is worth the effort. Last week #LifeHubMonheim and EIT Food hosted the AgTech Start-Up session at Bayer | Crop Science. Hosting 10 fantastic start-ups covering everything from plant vaccines to disease predictions through analysis of the soil microbiome (check out the start-ups here https://lnkd.in/eKVDnTsH), we connected this breakthrough innovation with industry experts before fostering less established networks between the start-ups and the farmers with a visit to DamiansHof - a working farm - to better understand the real world challenges a farmer faces. 👏 So many thank yous to the great team that made this happen: Samantha Gadenne from EIT Food; The ICS Team from Bayer that opened the door to bridging internal and external innovation at our internal global innovation summit Katerine V. Matthieu Willot @Ana Paula Diaz. The #LifeHubMonheim Team Allyson Schönnenbeck @Nisha Mahendrarajan Karl D Collins for hosting and driving the event. Our #ForwardFarm team Enno Ommen and @Bernd Olligs for hosting us at #DamiansHof And special thanks to Verena Herrmann for leading this fantastic event.

  • 🌱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲!   This month, LifeHub Bangalore had the incredible opportunity to host a group of enthusiastic students from Garden City University pursuing their master's in bioinformatics. It was a wonderful event filled with curiosity, learning, and insightful exchanges.    Our data scientists had the pleasure of interacting with the students, providing them with a glimpse into the day-to-day activities that fuel innovation at Bayer. From discussing the intricacies of GMOs and Bt Cotton to diving deep into how bioinformatics plays a crucial role in marker-assisted selection for crop improvement, the conversations were enlightening. The students were particularly keen on understanding the application of Large Language Models (LLM) in our work and exploring the diverse career paths in Data Science.    But the day was not just about data and crops. We also took this opportunity to shed light on Bayer’s Nutrient Gap Initiative. By aiming to reach 50 million people per year by 2030, Bayer is on a mission to reverse the cycle of malnutrition, fostering healthier families and communities.  Through intervention, education, and advocacy, we believe in making a difference, and it was inspiring to share this vision with the bright minds of tomorrow.    A huge shoutout to the amazing team behind this successful event and to the curious minds of Garden City University for engaging with us so passionately.     #LifeHubBangalore #teamBayer #Sustainability #NutrientGapInitiative #Innovation  #LifeHub Anik Luke Dhanaraj Aravinthakumar V Sunil Takekar Dr. Preethi Rajesh Parth Sanghavi MD YAKUB TOSMIN AHMED BRC, Bangalore- Bayer Biotech Research Centre SUSHMITHA CHENGAPPA A

As we continue to develop our highly valuable (and fun) relationship with the excellent CEPLAS - Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences at #LifeHubMonheim, we were really excited to take part in their Exchange Platform 2024 with a strong focus on #biologics in Crop Protection. Thank you for the invitation to take part alongside such a fantastic group that are at the core of NRW’s innovation ecosystem for agriculture: KWS Group NPZ Innovation GmbH CinSOIL Gateway Excellence Start-up Center University of Cologne BIO.NRW BioRiver Biotope Anne Helfer Frauke Hangen Dr. Nils Schrader Ingo Stefes Marc Kley Jens Uhlemann talked about Open Innovation at Bayer and how this can be leveraged by academia. Bjoern Hahn gave insights into how academia can best prepare for partnerships with companies in field of biologics. 🗝𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: 🌉 The Bayer Crop Science | Innovation Ecosystem has great opportunities help early-stage research bridge the dreaded innovation “valley of death”. 🏃♀️ As with all types of crop protection not just biologics: know your competitors. Benchmark your product against the market standards. 📜 And one that comes up a lot, but always needs driving home. Make sure you know the difference between IP and FTO. Just because you have “Intellectual Property” (patents) on your invention, doesn’t mean you can sell it or use (no “Freedom To Operate”). #Ecosystem #CropProtection #TeamBayer

The competition is aimed at scientists who want to start thinking about the commercialization of their research. At last week’s kick-off event, 12 startups received guidance from industry experts, gaining fresh perspectives on their research. 🧐 The highlight of the ideas challenge will be the grand award event in June at the Henkel Innovation Center, where the best startups will be presented and awarded in front of representatives from science, industry, the capital market, and politics.
