Deborah 'Kemi Olakunle, also known as Kemi The Changemaker, has one big ambition; a Nigeria where every citizen has access to affordable and quality healthcare, regardless of their socioeconomic status. To achieve this objective, she started raising funds using her creativity. “I love painting, and I started selling my art pieces which allowed me to provide financial and psychological support to 100 chronically sick Nigerians who couldn't afford medical bills. But I knew we needed something bigger. I decided to enroll in a master's program in public health, where I discovered the possibilities around health insurance,” Kemi said. In 2023, Kemi started her social enterprise known as Health4Moni, a healthtech company that provides affordable health insurance to low-income Nigerians using the daily contributions model whilst giving them access to a savings net and investment opportunities to eradicate poverty. As an outstanding women entrepreneur, Kemi is recognized this year as one of the 15 winners of Bayer Foundation's Women Empowerment Award 2024. She brought one of her art pieces along to the award ceremony at our #SocialInnovationDays24 in Berlin, and the painting has since then been displayed on the walls of our Berlin office, reminding us of the vision and drive of our social innovation partners. 🏆 Learn more about our Women Empowerment Award 2024 winners: https://lnkd.in/ekS2HB6E 📰 Read more about our Social Innovation Days 2024: https://lnkd.in/erNcF-e2 #Healthcare #WomenEntrepreneurship #WomenEmpowermentAward

How can we improve access to basic health in rural areas of Sub Sahara Africa? 🤔 We partnered with Healthy Entrepreneurs to support Community Health Workers in becoming Community Health Entrepreneurs, where they receive training and are able to sell quality health products at a lower price. This does not only increase the sustainability of the program, but also increases the reach to the most isolated communities in Uganda.
