Storytelling for the Global Good: Live From Uganda

Population Media Center Founder & President, Bill Ryerson; Vice President for International Programs, Natalia Cereser; and Uganda Country Director, Ronald Ahirirwe, joined for a lively discussion straight from our Uganda office on May 7th. We invite you to watch the recording if you did not make the live event!

Population Media Center has worked in Uganda since 2018 as a social behavior change communication partner. Most notably the team supported the Foreign Commonwealth & Development (FCDO) on their project called: Reducing High Fertility Rates and Improving Sexual Reproductive Health Outcomes in Uganda.

As part of the project, PMC-Uganda broadcast two long-running radio shows designed to entertain and change attitudes and behaviors. The results speak for themselves.

Beyond Cairo: Time to Recommit to Women’s Rights and Population for the SDGs

At the United Nations Commission on Population and Development, fifty-seventh session the following statement was read on behalf of three international organizations working at the intersection of the rights of women and girls and unsustainable population growth.

Thank you, Chair, for the opportunity to contribute to the 57th session. My name is Simone Filippini, representing Population MattersPopulation Connection, and Population Media Center. We’re all NGOs with ECOSOC status, focused on achieving sustainable development through empowering ethical and practical population solutions for the benefit of people and planet.

While we’ve seen important progress in reducing the proportion of women affected by some of these injustices, in many cases, the total number of affected women is still growing due to population growth outstripping development efforts.
