How will Remote Work affect productivity?


An increase in productivity has been the most significant selling point for 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤. Many studies have shown a positive correlation between working remotely and productivity. Workers with a healthier lifestyle and flexible schedule are more productive.

Every side has two coins, though. Numerous issues have also come up with workers being remote. The most significant of them is the disconnect from the work culture and lack of face-to-face communication. The human mind is hard-wired for face-to-face communication. Lack of it will have adverse effects.

Positive Impact

Working in natural light and warmer temperatures gives a boost to productivity. A flexible working schedule is excellent too. The customized plan for every individual worker is a boon.

Lack of office gossip has decreased stress. The less the distraction, the better work is.

For organizations, an expanded pool of talent is available at their disposal as one can hire from any geographic location. This has resulted in hiring better workers, thus enhancing productivity height.

Negative impact

In the comfort of home workers, laxity towards work could come up as an issue. Workers may struggle to get the job done in time in their comfort zone. In the latest survey, most Mangers in the US indicate their preference in having their employees in offices.

Disconnection from work and feeling of isolation can put off some of the individuals and can profoundly affect their morale and productivity.

There are too many distractions at home. Kids, spouses, and pets may be impediments that can reduce the focus.

Final say :

Remote Work is here to stay and will be the norm soon enough. There are a few ways and means to make it more efficient and effective

Taking regular breaks, interacting with people at home and office, leaving home for physical activity, and having a clearly defined working schedule primary among them.
