Martina Cheli has been with RS for 3 years so far. We caught up with her to discuss her role within our VAS team and to find out about her experiences.
What does a typical day look like for you as our Head of Product Management & Delivery for Procurement Solutions in EMEA?
Martina: A typical day for me is wonderfully unpredictable, and I am grateful for that. Generally, I aim to carve out some quiet, call-free time each day to think and produce valuable work. This could range from drafting an investment proposal, updating a deck for a strategic project I own, creating a development plan for a team member, reviewing our month-to-date performance, or staying informed about the latest moves from our competitors. However, about 70% of my time is spent on calls with my team, EMEA stakeholders, customers or projects teams. You can also occasionally find myself escalating or chasing for incidents to be fixed.
I have only two certainties during my workdays: Firstly, I will talk to Manuela Marchetti - my counterpart on the Services & Solutions team who brings my needs (which are the EMEA needs) to life through her exceptional delivery. And secondly I will have lunch around 13:30 CET.
What is your favourite thing about working at RS?
Martina: My favourite thing about working at RS is the dynamic and collaborative environment. I love the diversity of tasks and challenges each day brings, which keeps my work both engaging and rewarding. There are many reasons why, after three years, I have no intention of leaving (at least voluntarily!). High on that list is my manager, Paul Bailey, who has always supported me and given me opportunities to grow. In general, I adore working with talented people who are not afraid of the continuous challenges we face each day; in fact, they enjoy overcoming them and making each day exciting. Special kudos to my amazing team, whose talent and dedication make every project a success.
Do you have a stand out memory of your time with RS so far?
Martina: It's funny enough that one of my best memories comes from a project that had us working night and day. It was called the Inposia project, and we faced a challenge with a tight deadline and potentially huge business impact. What made this experience so memorable was the incredible collaboration and dedication displayed by everyone involved. This made me feel part of 'something,' and there is no better emotion than the sense of belonging.
