The 80/20 Rule of Learning: When Do You Stop Hitting the Books and Start Taking Action? 📚🚀 Ever feel like you're stuck in a perpetual learning loop? 🔁 I definitely have! A colleague recently asked me: "You're always learning something new. How do you know when you've learned ENOUGH? When do you stop consuming and start applying?" My answer? The 80/20 rule. 🤔 Here’s how it works: When I'm diving into a new topic (like video editing, for example), I go all-in on books, articles, courses—you name it. But at a certain point, I start noticing diminishing returns. If 80% of the information in a new resource is stuff I already know, that's my cue to shift gears. It doesn’t mean I stop learning altogether, but it does mean I'm probably ahead of the curve enough to start doing something with that knowledge. 🚀 Have you ever struggled with this? Doing one thing differently is often the same as doing everything differently." – Mrs. Elm from The Midnight Library by #MattHaig Confession: I generally don’t read fiction, but I recently came across The Midnight Library by Matt Haig on Amazon, and the great reviews piqued my interest. I decided to give it a try, and I must say, it is one of the best books I've ever read! The core philosophy—doing one thing differently is often the same as doing everything differently—resonated deeply with me. It reminded me of what #Sadhguru teaches in #InnerEngineering: "Whatever is there right now is all that is; it can’t be any other way." The best part is that what we do right now decides the next moment and, ultimately, the entire course of our lives. From the concepts of the Book of Regret and Quantum Jumping to the final realization that life is all about how you respond and that the desire to live is the most important driving factor of humanity, I loved every aspect of this book. I don’t want to bore you with learnings from the book on #leadership, #productmanagement, or #AI. I just want to share this experience and hope that at least one of you reads this book and finds value in it. One piece of advice I would give my younger self in college: Explore and experiment. Not just in your #career, but also in finding the right exercise regime, meditation technique, technology (#AI, #Blockchain etc) and content to consume. Is There Such a Thing as TOO Much Productivity? The AI Dilemma 🤔🤖 A recent discussion got me thinking: Will AI create more jobs, or will it automate them out of existence? It's a valid question. After all, AI is rapidly democratizing tasks that once required entire teams of specialists. A few well-crafted prompts, and boom - you've got the power of a developer, data scientist, and marketer all rolled into one. 🤯 While AI is undoubtedly powerful, its long-term impact on the job market remains uncertain. I am sharing a few thoughts of mine on what the future might hold: 1. Short Term - The Uncertainty Phase:  Expect some chaos as we figure out which jobs are truly necessary in an AI-powered world. Upskilling and venturing out or exploring new opportunities will be key. 🔑 2. Mid Term - The Rise of Global Citizens:  As populations age in some countries, we might see a surge in demand for human-centric roles like caregiving. This could create new opportunities for global talent pools. 🌎 And could give opportunities for creating new Human Supply chains 3. Long Term - The Unknown Frontier:  This is where things get really interesting. What happens when AI can automate almost everything? Will we focus on low-data fields like climate science, space exploration, or even biohacking? 🤔 Will universal basic income become a necessity? Even Mustafa Suleyman, in his book "The Coming Wave," grapples with these very questions. But here's the BIGGER question: What's the limit of productivity? At what point does efficiency come at the cost of our social fabric? As they say, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
